@@Thelawncarenut thanks! I’m trying to find reference on how much water to add in a tank sprayer versus hose end. I have the ortho and understand that. But how do I know how many gallons per 1,000 sf for himic, air8, and micro Greene? I saw in another guide RGS is 3oz/gallon/1,000 and also air8 I think...

Always been a do it myself guy across the board. Funny, but doing my own lawn has always been the biggest challenge for me. Who in their right mind would think that their is such a methodical science to all of this. Lets start with I have personally re-sodded my lawn 3 times. OUCH!!! "LEARN HOW TO SHARPEN YOUR LAWN MOWER BLADE". Listen to this man, every 5th cut sharpen your blade, do not mow under 4 inchs!!! Most people think you just cut the grass right?? Wrong, Allyn changed the game for me!!! I got frustrated! I live south in South Florida! St Augustine Floratam - Love this grass type, .. Everything in South Florida seems to be to the 12th power of application. Fungus, who ever heard of "Rhizoctonia" before Allyn! Could never figure all this out until, I Found the Lawn Care Nut! The Bullet Proof Strategy!! This is greatness!!! I started with basic's watching his channel, and unable to MATH (LOL). I could never figure out the sprayers and the breakdowns per 1000 square foot and spray setting, so I never invested in his (4) Pack bio-stimulant package until now!! PS its a great value you when you break it down, basically $25.00 a gallon of really high quality product. This video is exactly what I needed to explain how the heck to correctly use the Ortho Dial N Spray - sprayer. I followed the basic modification on the sprayer, after sizing down the sprayer hose and cutting off the end, I added a seconded zip tie just above the weight inside the sprayer. in 10 Minutes I am going outside to start the fun!! The only thing I am still concerened about is "WEED FEED", Pre-Emergent time, I am phreaked out to use this on my lawn, as I have previously had a bad experience. I am trying to use the Greencast tool, and I am using the Yard Mastery app, and I downloaded Allyns book online, I just don't have the confidence yet to put weed and feed back on my lawn!! I absolutely do not want to re-sod again!! Need to watch more videos their, especially on temperature! So for now I am trying to build a tough turf, and hand pulling weeds "Good Therapy", bad on time!! Thanks to the Lawn Care Nut for all the education and great products!! We appreciate you! - Great Video!

I took my Ortho apart and drilled out the smallest hole in the dial to a bit larger than the 8 oz hole so I have a max dump of whatever I’m spraying and it clogs less. I’ve divided my lawn into larger areas of 3-4000 sq ft (got 18,000 total!) so I try and get as much product in as I can so I don’t have to fill so much. Just gotta walk faster. As long as we get down the right amount of product on the size
area we’re spraying we should be good. Great explanation of all that, thanks.

I took your previous advice with the Ortho and actually did a bucket test, because at first I was having trouble with running out of product and still having square footage to cover going off the 2gal/1 min. I determined that my HES put out 1 gallon of water every 27 seconds, so I ended up buying a cheap wrist watch that has a stopwatch feature and I generally just do 1000 sq ft at a time, and will take 1:48 to spray that 1000, and get out 4 gallons of water, that way I’m also diluting the product as recommended on the label of most of the NeXT products. Thanks for the vid Hane. 👍🏼

Great video. I have a smallish yard, just over 2000 sq ft between the front and back. I would prefer to dial everything in for 1000 sq ft at a time instead of the 2000 sq ft since I have to do the small side of my house & switch hoses in between. What would be the ortho setting and dilution rate on that? Same question for the pump sprayer because I am going back and forth between which I want to use.

    • @ejordan74
      @ejordan74 Рік тому

      Same question.

    • @ejordan74
      @ejordan74 Рік тому

I think I figured it out. On the "8" setting, the sprayer is pushing 8oz from the tank per gallon of water. The sprayer sprays 2 gallons/min (or 1 gal/30 seconds). If I have 8 oz in the tank, it will take 30 seconds to empty (8oz/gallon at 1 gal/30seconds). If you can dilute the concentrate the way LCN suggests, the only real variable is your walking pace. For example, if I need 5 oz. of whatever product to do my 1,000 sq ft front lawn, I can add 11 oz of water to the sprayer (to get to 16oz total in the tank) which will then take 1 minute to empty because the "8" setting means it's pushing 8 oz per gallon and the sprayer is pushing 2 gallon/min. If, however, I fill the sprayer to its 32 oz capacity, it will take 2 minutes to empty the contents so I'd be walking a LOT slower over the 1000 sq ft. Does that make sense? It will always take 2 minutes to empty the full container (32 oz.) and 1 minute to empty 16oz; just depends on how fast or slow you want to walk.
I really hope this makes sense.

So about double what is mentioned here. I would need to be moving very fast to cover 2000 sqft with one full container. A dilution setting of 6, or 4, seems more reasonable although I am concerned about clogging going to a smaller setting. I'm now concerned about using a hose end sprayer with these products.

I lost the weight on my original sprayer after it fell off the shelf(I'll keep looking for it). On my new one, after cutting the tube to length I trimmed of the "flange" of the original tip and pushed it back onto the tube. Plus also after removing the screen. There is now way I can walk fast enough to cover the space on the 8oz setting. I use the 1oz setting for everything but the micro green. I've learned how fast I need to walk to cover each zone of my lawn and have the container come out empty. With micro green I fill half full with the rest water and use the 4 oz setting. Just have to fill up a few more times. If I don't feel like dragging a hose around I use my 10 gallon tank sprayer and I will mix all 4 bio stim products together.

Pickup a hose barb coupling (used to join 2 hoses) as well that fits inside the 1/4in hose. Optionally slide the weight back down over the barb., but the barb is also a weight so you technically do not need the oval weight it comes with. If you do it this way then length of cut for the hose should be 4.75in
    - 5.50in if no barb, and you want the hose just barely touch the bottom.
    - 6.00in is perfect if you want the hose a little more than barely touching the bottom.
-6.50in just in case someone messed this up, lol. But you can always start at 6.5 and see how that goes first.

I have no problem walking the yard and breaking it up in sections to do 2k sqft sections, but it would really be difficult to set up a sprinkler...I'm on 3 acres but I only really care about the front yard which is about 320x100. If you have to water it in, what about just walking it again with the Ortho spraying just plain water? Would that be enough?

Why not pull off the filter (it’s just a barb fitting) then when it’s off remove the screen (which can be done with a small flat blade screwdriver) then put it back on the end of the hose. I figured there is some reason you used the zip tie instead of what I described. Thank you sir keep up the awesomeness!

Allyn I just bought the micro greene waiting for delivery. I also have ortho hose and spray. I can’t see how I am going to do my lawn at 15 k yard. I will be forever be in lawn to do only 2k per at 6 oz. I was told I could do 6 oz x 5 to spray = 30 oz add 2 oz to add water for 5 k Sq ft per fill up of dial up spray. So 3 times to cover my 15 k yard. But you are saying only 2k Sq ft spray since ortho dial can’t handle 30 oz of concentrate plus 2 oz of water cause of grains in dial Spray.
I only have pump 2 gallon and no battery back pack. I plan to buy your YM back pack but wait until later plus out of stock after July 4th sale.

I usually put some blue dye in the mixture to ensure I'm covering my areas. Do you find that helpful?

Allyn, awesome video! Can Microgreene still be applied with Ortho hose sprayer once it's modded? Seems like the pump sprayer would take a lot longer to apply with such a small spray pattern. Thanks!

As a business owner, I want to start treating lawns with these organic products. However, most of the the clients don't have an irrigation system. Should I water it in for them after I spray their lawn with the fertilizers or should I warn them that they have to?

I just received my Ortho sprayer from Amazon. Looks like mine has an upgraded strainer on the end of my tube. Should I still cut that part off? I'm assuming that is done so the sprayer has an easier time to suck up the thicker contents of the bio-stimulants?

Great video and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just got the bio-stimulant package and have a question. Are the lawn leaves supposed to have brown stains “iron” even after I watered down the app? Am I doing something wrong? My grass is looking great btw. Thank you!

    • @Thelawncarenut

Sometimes you will see the brown spots. As long as you are mulching your clippings when you mow, nothing will be lost, so all good.

Just curious on how many Ortho sprayers people went through before they got a good one? Was spraying my lawn yesterday with RGS and Green Punch (8oz setting and moded sprayer), got my front yard done and as I was cleaning out my tank the sprayer started leaking from everywhere. Just went over to my local Home Depot and picked up two more sprayers so I can do my back yard.

I have a bunch of the old Dial N Spray models that work fine. Is there anything about the new one shown here that makes it better for applying these products? Or are they the same internally?

  • @jasonheath5306

Saw a video on the N-ext UA-cam about mixing. You can mix the RGS humic and the air8 together but the micro green on it's own. With that music it sounds like you took your lawn out to dinner.

I'm always on the hunt for great quick-connect fittings as most tend to leak or break after a certain amount of time. I can't find Eley's at the current time, everything on backorder. Would you mind sharing the link of the quick-connect fittings the subscriber sent you and/or possibly do a review of them after a bit to see how they've held up?

Hi what is the hose pipe connection size that threads into this please? I'm in the UK and just ordered one from the US that's on its way. Our standard hose pipes here are all different sizes. I have a 3/4 thread hose and a 1/2 inch quick connector hose. I've heard two conflicting answers that this Dial n Spray is 5/8 but I've also heard its 3/4. Can you please confirm which one it is so I can get my adapter ordered online now as well because I think I'll need one? Many thanks

I know this video is old buddy, but just a little confused. I just bought some Bifenthrin for cinch bugs and the label says 1 ounce per gallon per 1000 feet. I’m still not sure how to set my sprayer ha ha can you please help?
I’m thinking, put 2 ounces of insecticide in the container and then fill it up, and then I have two minutes to spray over 2000 ft.² correct ?

I have cool season grass. This season I have applied Scott's step 1, 2, & recently step 3. I discovered your channel after putting the Scott's down. Great channel! Can I use the bio stimulant pack & 7-0-0 greene effect this season even though I've already used scotts? Also at this time what is the order of application?

I would wait on the 7-0-0. Should be just and don't need to spend extra on more fert. But he has a Yard Mastery app you can download for a schedule and quick links for info and to buy. Fertilizer > RGS > Humic 12 > and MicroGreene is recommended for Round 3 in the app right now.

One of your best videos LCN and I have been flowing for many years. I know you and when you started to take sprayer apart I said to myself this is going to get ugly. When you pulled out wrench I LMAO. But with two taps it opened right up. I stopped laughing and sincerity apologize. I feel as if I should go outside and eat some dirt like you did in a video to redeem myself. Lol
