That was a fun World Cup. Ireland did itself seriously proud as I recall.
Just realised the line "pure as any Lilly and as gentle as a dove" is borrowed from "spancil Hill" when I saw a clip of Shane performing it with Christy Moore on the late late show. Christy also borrowed a lyric from it for his own football song "joxer goes to Stuttgart"

in this song Shane had such a sober look on his face while everyone around him is dancing and jumping.
I like how the male dancer in this video tries to headbutt the rotating disco ball above him like it was an actual soccer ball. Apparently that was also how David Lee Roth broke his nose while Van Halen were filming an Italian TV clip in 1980.
