the endings of the game can really change the way this theme feels for you. spoilers: bad - it's a sort of goodbye for good. all the friends and people which the applechasers met, will never meet them, or remember them for the rest of their lives, a ghost in flight, a fleeting memory. good - a bittersweet ending where everyone but niiue and giegue get to see the people they know, but niiue and giegue are nowhere to be found. but just like a ghost in flight, you can still feel niiue wherever you go. paradox - thanks to the mistake you've made, you've created a paradox which causes an unknown amount of damage to the entire timeline. but because you're still in the magicant of the now-nonexistent giegue, your flight as ghosts has stopped abruptly, and for good. cow - cow severance - with you bringing back giegue, you and the applechasers are now likely forgotten in the main timeline, but, although the people you met have forgotten you, the changes you caused and the things you've done for the solar system and likely the universe will never be forgotten. and just like ghosts, you continue changing things and doing deeds which will never be forgotten, and disappearing, only fate may tell where these ghosts in flight will end up. if you haven't noticed, i love this game and this track.

The game has truly ended, who knows pheraps in the future you'll get to see them again together for "the first time" in another game. ...man it hurts to have completed this game... i feel like i am the only person i know who truly adores this song. i don't really tell people how much i love this song because i couldn't imagine any of my friends being into it. the use of the already beautiful ghosts letmotif, the melodies and the amazing lyrics and the vocalist who sings them just propel this song into being one of my favorite songs to listen to every once and awhile.

Wow....just wow.....firstly, I only played this amazing game just because of my curiosity of the game having megalovania in it. But now this is one of the best game I've played in my life.... I'm feeling lucky because of that curiosity....I get to play one of the best games I've ever played. And I'd say I do love Undertale and the original Mother series but this just blew my expectations out of the water, exceeding every single one of them.
After hearing this after beating the game, I didn't know what to think, other than thinking about how great the excperience that was this game was. I loved and enjoyed evey second of it. Almost enough to make me forget that this was all made in RPG maker, which is even more mind blowing. To think that this was all just a fangame and not the real thing was baffling to me, It felt like another real Mother game made by Itoi himself. Well done to the creators of this game. Kenpokid4 In order to get Severance, though, not only must you obtain Nightmare Empower, but you also have to replace a party member with Niiue before you enter his Magicant (pressing cancel will cause him to leave). This is because he only has enough time to formulate a plan with Future Niiue if the two meet at the end of Niiue's Magicant. If you refuse Niiue, then the rest of the game proceeds as if you didn't get Nightmare Empower. I, unfortunately, found this out the hard way.

Just recently finished playing this game after like... never touching it for over 6 years (since 2018, the last time i completed it with the Severance Ending). This time i had a majority of the cards to all endings in the game in my hand and for some reason... i couldnt bring myself to do any of them except for Severance. I wanted to see the characters happy tbh, and i feel like Severance encapsulates a true happy ending because of how hard you have to actually work for it. The hardships and struggles you must embark upon, just to see Giegue be given a second chance. Honestly it makes it all worth it in the end.
The guitar solo is Alinivar's theme, A Guitar For Tentacles. Also, during Severance - you can see Giegue is still wearing Ness' hat after Niiue is done singing. He also runs instead of walking down to the Applechasers.
Ya know, I hope the team at Giant Space Pickle decides to remake Cognitive Dissonance one day. . .cause, it's a wonderful, amazing fangame! I have played it so many times! I just wish it could be remastered one day. So it can be in like a Mother Direct.

3 years late, but the actual fangame site has a copyleft symbol (not to be confused with copyright) with "all rights reversed," so I'd assume anything in it is share-alike.
