i don't know how it is possible to hate this song. it's a song that can be perceived in so many different ways. in one perception, it is serene and lovely. in another, it is as if a journey is finally come to a close. and in yet another, it is as if you are having a fresh start on life and in a new sort of universe full of opportunities. you can also see it as somebody you love passing on to some sort of astral realm. what a brilliant tune.
Really sets the mood with space in the background and makes us realize how small we are and how scary space can be. It also sets primarily the leitmotif and how amazing it is. Maybe it's thanks to this that I started appreciating sci-fi much more.
I just realized that this title theme is called "Ghosts" and the ending credits theme is called "Ghosts in Flight". That's pretty neato... unless it's just a coincidence, but still that's pretty clever.
Cognitive Dissonance deserves more praise. It wasn't featured anywhere and took huge amounts of work to create. I get Mother 4 is amazing in all, but cmon! CogDis may have used a pre-built engine, but it is still as good as a game as Mother 4 will be. This theme depicts to me of Cogdis' Neverending sad and happy moments. It's whimsical, yet oddly nerving. It fits Cogdis' plot well, considering what it's about and how it affects Mother and it's canon games.

They aren't alien war commanders anymore, and even if they were their spaceship fucking exploded. They can't go back to their weird alien colony, because things like love and happiness don't seem like they are welcome there, so... they just become hitchhikers? Wait, it's the ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide refrence! Giant Space Pickle you've done it again!

My headcanon is that Niiue joins the Applechasers' band as a singer. They travel round the universe and give concerts, which sell out every time because everyone loves the heroes who saved the solar system from Giygas. Niiue raises baby Giegue like he was his own child, then Alinivar teaches him how to play the drums so he can fill in for Zarbol (you will be missed, buddy). As they grow more famous, more people join their crew and they travel the universe looking for adventure, more galactic threats to vanquish, more concerts to play. Giegue becomes content with the love he's shown from Niiue, the Applechasers, their adoring fans. One day, he returns to his people, the Geegs. He shows them all the power of love and emotion, and they become a peaceful race. Giegue eventually leaves the Applechasers to forge his own path on his home planet. All is good. All is well. "Porky looms in the corner."
My thumbs up for all the people involved in this game. This music alone is enough for me to go back to my mind and remember the journey of a new team of heroes wanting to change the future.
Hey. If you speed it up to 2x it sounds truly bizarre in a good-wonky kind of way. I'm sure it's cause of some audio thing but it also sounds like an old out of tune piano, kinda neat.
