    Thanks for sharing the update. Good to see your sequoias keep nicely growing. My seedling came to light this January 3. It is still healthy but seems to be dormant, because it stopped growing after about 6-8 weeks and there is no branching yet. The height is only 6 cm. I wonder if anybody had any idea about what may be going on in my sequoia seedling.

      ... and the seedling has always been on a windowsill inside the house with no direct sunlight.

      They usually go dormant during the winter and they are back to grow in spring. Another thing may be an issue, they need outdoor humidity and they struggle indoors. Can you put it outdoor?

      @@howtogrowfromseed Thank you your prompt reply. Good idea, I give it a try and see how the seedling will behave outdoors. (avoiding direct sunlight). Cross my fingers. :)

    They are so pretty. Too bad the climate here is too harsh for them, I would grow some.

      They grow in the sequoia national park and canada where temperature can get very low. How cold does it get where you are?

    Hi
    Do you use a fertilizer and if so which one and how often thanks 😁👍

    • @howtogrowfromseed
      @howtogrowfromseed  11 місяців тому +2

      After the third year apply a Slow-Release Fertilizer. It is particularly suitable for coniferous trees, as these trees generally don't require frequent fertilization, try to minimised the amount of salt in them and look for fertilizers having iron, manganese, and zinc. I don't have one specific to suggest. I hope this helped.

      👍 Started the year with 34 trees but only have 1 left , think I feed them to early, along with gnats and too much rain 😬

    Hi, what's your potting soil mix, what ratio do you use to achieve a well draining mix
    Thanks

      20% sand, 50% normal soil and on the top 30% of compost. On the surface I put always bark mulch 👌🏽 good luck 😉
