      @@UnknownCoatings Actually there is Amber, Blue, Green and white. They all have different heat values but they are all Kapton tape. You can even purchase them in different size dots as well.

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 місяці тому +1

      @em1tuning797 no. Kapton tape is specific to amber. Kapton tape is non conductive. Unlike other traditional blue or green high temp tape. Google image search kapton tape and tell me what color there is. I appreciate you trying to help. But not a fan of spreading misinformation

      @@UnknownCoatings Kapton is a trademark of DuPont. They do add the amber pigment to the polyimide, however, it's possible that non-DuPont polyimide tape can be another color or that DuPont could produce another color for a large order on request. I'd say you're generally correct that most retail Kapton is amber, but the real issue is that we all call it Kapton when Kapton is just a brand.

    They turned out great, that color really pops. Personally, I'm probably one of those weirdos that enjoys watching things get sand-blasted 😂 I love seeing the transformation from old and crusty to fresh metal. It's like visual ASMR.

    These are awesome my worry about doing candy colours will always be an uneven spead. Seems like an easy mistake to make what is a good way to get the correct mm / even spray. Across the whole part? What have you noticed works the best for this? Normally with spray paint it's just a feel / look type of thing. Not staying in one area for to long & have a consistent movement with your wrist.

    This reminds me that I need to refinish my calipers. But, they'll need vacuuming or something for the logo inlay.

    Dryer sheet?! No sheet! (Sorry had to) but seriously I’ve never thought of that! I wonder what I will learn tomorrow. When I get those strings I let it cool just enough to just break em off. That said I’m sure you don’t have that kind of time to wait and I’m working with sheet aluminum. Absolutely brilliant work though bud! Thx for spending the time making videos for beginners like me! I’ve learned a ton from watching your videos!

    Hey Man, appreciate your content, that's a lot to learn. I'm a beginner in powder coating and sometimes I have difficulties with Bmw/brembo calipers. I paint calipers without halving them and they are outgassing at the junction of two halves, even though I outgas them in the oven for an 1.5 hour. Should I spread calipers on halves to prevent this?

  • @Mr_BUSINESS_24_7

    Why do you want paint/powder where the caliper bolt shoulders contact the flange ? I figured for most accurate torque, you probably don't want to torque the bolt onto painted/powdered surfaces. ...no ?

  • @hanhu3337

    Masking vs rubber plugs for the bores? I’ve had success with using Delrin knobs + threaded rods to press in rubber stoppers. It keeps the bores clear, though it does allow paint in the crevice where dust boots press in.

    Love it! Quick question, can you take the graphic off right after spraying before the oven, and wouldnt that avoid the "stringy" and also not knowing the temperature of what the graphic can handle? Thank you in advance, love the vids

    • @UnknownCoatings

    can the seals withstand the heat from baking? i have a set i want to get coated that only have about 4k miles on them. wanna avoid getting/removing seals if i can

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 місяці тому

      Seals need to be removed. Yes they can handle the heat with fluid. But when dry the seals will become brittle. You also gotta worry about blasting media finding it's way inside. Not worth the risk. I have reused low mile seals with no issue

  • @EVILUTION9
    @EVILUTION9 5 місяців тому

    Lovely finish. The mounting faces should be bare metal. If you make the masking circles bigger so it covers the recess the dust boots will fit properly as they will be too tight with powder on them.

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  5 місяців тому

      Untrue. The seals are already in and dust seals can't fit too tight at their pinch point. They either fit or don't. As the pinch point doesn't actually move... I have done countless sets of brakes here. Check out my other videos to see similar results

      @chrisbradley3224 you were misinformed because I have videos of them being powder coated. Some are painted. But it's rare. Some receive other surface Coatings. Most are powder coated. Wilwood also powder costs their brakes. As do most high end brake companies

      @@UnknownCoatings I’m not convinced. Your info goes against everything they say publicly also. There is an explanation of their paint process on their site. Stoptech paints everything and real race calipers like AP and Alcon are anodized or nickel plated. I’ve also chipped mine and looks like paint to me. In any case it’s not that important and you do amazing work. I’d have no hesitation powder coating calipers.
