    Great content. I have a powder coating channel myself so I know how much time the videos take to do. Great job 👏

    Great work!, I'm not familiar with iron phosfate, after aplying the wash how long does it need to activate and does it need a clean water rinse afterwards? Thanks for your attention, new to this trade

    • @CrosslincBiz
      @CrosslincBiz  2 роки тому +1

      It only needs to be on the part a few minutes, you can watch it change color. Rinsing is optional, I typically just blow it dry and it works fine for me. Happy to help!

    I like your wash bay. Can you give me some guidance on where to get that plastic grated floor?

    • @CrosslincBiz
      @CrosslincBiz  2 роки тому

      Before we had the stainless tray and walls, we just had a curtain around a set of drum spill containment platforms. We just took the grates out of the platforms and put them in the new stainless tray. (Search "drum spill containment platform")

    Excellent Video! You mentioned briefly having the first layer of powder coat almost cured before applying tape and foil over it to avoid the masking from damaging the first coat. I just experienced this damage from not having the first coat nearly cured before taping/masking off to apply a second color. My tape and masking ruined the primary color and now I have a mess! If roughly 4 minutes is a partially cured powder, then what time frame do you use to determine a nearly versus a fully cured paint? I am at the point of not risking the masking damage and just fully curing the powder first color before masking and applying the second color. Any help would be appreciated! Thank You!

    • @CrosslincBiz
      @CrosslincBiz  2 роки тому

      To be completely honest, it's more of an estimate as to how much it has cured. It all depends on the mass of your part and the heat capacity of your oven. Cure time goes by the time the part is at cure temperature, not necessarily by just how long it is physically in the oven. The best way to get around this for this type of project is to just go ahead and full cure the first coat, do your masking, and then scuff the area that's inside the masking. Then you're sure your second coat is going to stick. You may not have the same bond as the two coats would if they melted together from a partial cure, but you'll get a nice mechanical bond that will be more than satisfactory.

    I feel like I have spent a fortune on media blasting but it's so slow and media doesn't flow well. Could you give advice on PSI and what gun you use for blasting?

    • @CrosslincBiz
      @CrosslincBiz  2 роки тому

      Well, I've spent many hours behind the gun on a siphon feed cabinet. We finally splurged and purchased a pressure blast cabinet and it makes all the difference. Are you on Instagram? DM CrossLinc and I can give you some info on the best siphon feed type gun and setup.

    I don’t see why you trimmed the 2tone the way you did. Looks wonky. Should’ve gone in the crease of the curve or to the edge unless where it changes color will be covered. Pretty sure that’s visible when installed and customer was like wtf.

    • @CrosslincBiz
      @CrosslincBiz  2 роки тому

      I went over the masking line with the customer when he brought it in. So, that's where I put it. And if the customer's happy, I'm happy. 🙂
