14:10 Now that I think about it, it would’ve been funny if they found some way to incorporate the “Bitch, I’m adorable” line here with Bulma like they did with Vegeta and Trunks
I just realized that Piccolo shouting "WHAT?" Has a double meaning! The first obviously being that he ripped his ears and can't hear, but also a Stone Cold Steve Austin reference since his catchphrase is also "WHAT?", fitting since he came in with Stone Cold's theme earlier! Lani, I fucking love you!
Stone Cold Piccolo and "Papa Metamacha's gonna make you his bitch" are some of the peak moments in this series for me. This is easily top 3 DBZA movies IMO.
Piccolo's lines in this movie were some of your absolute best. It's a shame that those seconds-long snippets are probably gonna be the only parts of Bojack we're gonna get, though.
The movies being non canon also hurts my brain with Piccolo all the time, cause in certain movies he should be the strongest character after fusing with Kami.
Piccolo arriving reminds me of the Directory's Commentary livestream they had, where they watched all the movies. During this movie, when Piccolo shows up, Lani and Taka just start yelling "STONE COLD STONE COLD STONE COLD!!" "MY GOD, MY GOD! ITS THE TEXAS RATTLESNAKE! ITS THE TEXAS RATTLESNAKE!!" And it _killed_ me.
They also gave Videl the Chi-chi treatment. In the one unholy Broly movie where she actually kinda fights a little in that dress staring Broly down over that lake was awesome. Also I will agree that I discovered Dream Theater through the History of Trunks dub. It was awesome.
I love it when Kaiser and Lani spoil us with these long movie ones! They are such great people. I hope they are very successful with their Original shorts and new content that isn't based on abridging.
No, I have the perfect way to explain this timeline: This is the timeline where Guru trained Nail in the _NEW_ way. He still lost to frieza, but when he fused with Piccolo, they rekt Frieza, so Goku never had to go super saiyan, and they all went home early, till Guru's other half showed up, who was also trained in the "new" way, due to being part of Guru. (Guru didn't die in this one, so he wrote the letter)
So happy they are able to look back and love their old stuff. They haven't become cynical to it or view it as something to be forgotten like so many artist do. I am glad they stayed humble and are able to look back on so much of their work with the same love we give it.

"YOU WERE DOING IT WITH YOUR MOUTH! .....WHAT?!" is easily my favourite moment in this movie. Makes me lose my shit every time
That moment KaiserNeko says he was introduced to Dream Theater through History of Trunks and you get a flashback and realize that your own music career literally started with that as well. I feel that on a spiritual level!
These episodes are now my DBcember.
Change my mind.
Oh yeah, if the trade off to losing DBcember was getting these we came out way, way ahead in that deal
I love the small detail of the pause symbol being in the center of Vegeta's tv instead of the center of the actual media player while talking about the clip
When I first saw that, it freaked me out. I thought something was wrong
I always took Lord Slug's timeline as the Spirit Bomb working on Frieza. So Goku never went Super Saiyan, which is why he "does so" here.
Yeah that was my interpretation as well.
A timeline that the Cooler duology also fits nicely into, I suppose.
I like this idea.
I subscribe to the idea that the movies are just "What If" timelines of the series
I use “I’m not the brightest knife in the crayon” box un-ironically now. Best quote
I always loved that "That's what makes it special" joke
Gotta say I'm pretty sure "Hell there's even a new building"
Is one of my favorite random lines
Don't worry Kaiser, I never realized Bulma's line was cut off. Also, something I really like about false Super Saiyan is how his aura sticks onto Slug as he punches him, like it's fire. Woulda been cool if Ultra Ego vegeta worked like that since he's got swirly flame-ish ki stuff.
I don't think there is another movie that will make me so sad to not have Taka's commentary for.
Having Taka around would have been nice. Maybe we’ll get him for Hellsing Ultimate.
Does Episode 60 count as a movie? His most sincere performances as Perfect Cell are there.
RIP taka
@@BlusterTheBenevolent i wouldn’t personally count them as movies. I do hope that Taka is able to come to America to talk about them though. If they do end up doing a full Hellsing Ultimate Abridged commentary like this.
We need to buy Taka a plane ticket.
Kaiser's look into the camera cause he knows what episode of HIFL is coming out after this airs is gold
45:53 "NAIIIIL, come and MAIIIIL this for me!"
I love this line lol. I wouldn't be too surprised if half the reason they had that scene at the end was for that line.
I literally thought the line was supposed to be “think it’ll work”
Until you pointed it out, my brain smoothed it over. But now I can hear it.
22:42 what I love about that part: in Germany Piccolo IS Batman! Both are voiced by the same voice actor. Nice coincidence :D
This one is so great. It's just one word in the entire thing, but the delivery of Piccolo's line, "Neat!" slays me every time.
14:10 Now that I think about it, it would’ve been funny if they found some way to incorporate the “Bitch, I’m adorable” line here with Bulma like they did with Vegeta and Trunks
This was way too long before that line, I think. Maybe they would have if it had existed then.
I love that 90% of Slug's lines seems to just be Taka improvising xD
I just realized that Piccolo shouting "WHAT?" Has a double meaning! The first obviously being that he ripped his ears and can't hear, but also a Stone Cold Steve Austin reference since his catchphrase is also "WHAT?", fitting since he came in with Stone Cold's theme earlier! Lani, I fucking love you!
The Charlie Brown joke is underrated, and I think it works fine the way it is
Perfect timing, just got finished with the workout. THE TIMING IS ACTUALLY IMPECCABLE
Stone Cold Piccolo and "Papa Metamacha's gonna make you his bitch" are some of the peak moments in this series for me. This is easily top 3 DBZA movies IMO.
Can we take a second to shoutout to the person who edited the pause symbol to be in the center of Vegeta's tv screen?
It's the little things.
Piccolo's lines in this movie were some of your absolute best.
It's a shame that those seconds-long snippets are probably gonna be the only parts of Bojack we're gonna get, though.
13:37 I love the small, precious windows of actually intelligible Slug Speak 😂
Maybe but nothing tops "ohhh bsshh bsshh bsshh" imo :D
Leet
The movies being non canon also hurts my brain with Piccolo all the time, cause in certain movies he should be the strongest character after fusing with Kami.
Piccolo arriving reminds me of the Directory's Commentary livestream they had, where they watched all the movies.
During this movie, when Piccolo shows up, Lani and Taka just start yelling
"STONE COLD STONE COLD STONE COLD!!"
"MY GOD, MY GOD! ITS THE TEXAS RATTLESNAKE! ITS THE TEXAS RATTLESNAKE!!"
And it _killed_ me.
I hope they are very successful with their Original shorts and new content that isn't based on abridging.
i cannot wait for the World's Strongest commentary, and im loving this series. Shaz' "please dont break my arm" has always made me howl
Watching Lani just fanboy out with us brings me life.
"The kid in the ghost costume" MF THAT'S CHARLIE BROWN! PUT RESPECT ON HIS NAME.
I was looking forward to this creator commentary on the king piccolo movie!
GO TEAM SLUG!
GO TEAM GURU!!!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
Oh my god, I never noticed Goku said "Nobody rakes Christmas" and that's hilarious!
So happy they are able to look back and love their old stuff. They haven't become cynical to it or view it as something to be forgotten like so many artist do. I am glad they stayed humble and are able to look back on so much of their work with the same love we give it.
I mean, there are some things that they say they would rather do differently. Mainly the humor. But otherwise yeah, they view it rather positively.
as someone who has been a fan since episode 13, lord slug has always held a special place in my heart and may still be my favorite project of yours to date. i think it's genuinely a perfect project - consistently funny throughout, excellent delivery from all your talent, perfectly paced, and almost every single line is memorable
always appreciate your work, and really loving this retrospective commentary - thanks so much for all the joy y'all have put out into the world
Also, I started watching them around 18-19 when episode 7 or 8 was coming out. I'm 30 now. So glad these guys stuck to it as long as they did and found so much success!
This is definitely one of my top favorite DBZA movies and probably the one I've rewatched the most.
Piccolo had some really good moments in this film! Also, “I AM CHAMPION CHRISTMAS!!!” will always kill me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As someone who watched the entirety of the OG Dragonball anime in order to understand the jokes and context to DBZA, the King Piccolo references made me so happy
I consider this era the height of TeamFourStar. Lord Slug, Helling Ultimate Abridged #2, and the Namek starting to wrap up is when they really hit their groove and everything just worked.
“Higher dragon’s kinda clunky”-Kaiser
“That’ll be snoop lion’s next name”
😂😂😂😂😂
