This seems like a good companion for my bass....all I use now is Trillian and sampletank3...i need some make believe basses if you will......

Sampletank 3 has some good real basses and Trillian has everything synth and electric very high quality. You dont need anything more but if you wanted more Sampletank 4/Total Studio Max upgrade is worth considering for alternative real basses but Trillian by itself is all anyone ever needs for Bass.

I notice the tabs at the very top. What’s that about?
they dont have anything to do with the vst, those are the other instrument tracks in my studio one session, you can click on them like browser tabs and they will switch between what ever vsts you have open in the session

I see it's samplebased. i guess as long as its sounds good it is good but, i prefer literally making my own bass sounds from scratch.

I disagree... the control you have over the sound in 808 studio is crazy... sounds like you lean on presets to much..
