QUICK NOTE for the hybrid one. (IF it is not working, switch the chest area to the middle since hopper minecarts won't unload if it's too fast, also only use two powered rail, one at the end and at the beginning.)
you can make it less chaotic and laggy by using "quasi connectivity". Basically in this farm you could power some things like pistons from diagonally upward if that block is a power source, and then update the block by providing an update, then it will extend. So using this, you could put blocks where the redstone was in the back, and under that put redstone dust below that on its own block. Then, the block is technically powering the piston, and the redstone gives it an update, so only 1 piston fires. (sorry if my explanation was unclear)
The slab water thing is relatively recent, since slabs could be water logged, 1.13 I think. Before the max efficiency layout made rails a nightmare to avoid all of those water sources.. if you changed the flying machine slightly to have the observers facing upwards, you could use the two middle rows for sugar cane, bit it does make the redstone a bit bigger.. Overall a great video, especially the frustration you had changing to levers on the 2nd design. Glad you didn't cut that from the video!
Needed a simple design so opted for the third design, even though the slab placement was little exhaustive; the effort was worth it. Happy to report that the farm still works in Minecraft 1.20.4 Java.

I built the second one, but you can actually build it with much less resources. You can leave out every second or even more of the observers. Instead of the redstone block you can just use levers. Also there is no loss in efficiency if you only power the first few rails.
Also, you don't have to use glass if you don't have the sand for it. Also also, you can just plant the sugar cane on dirt or grass, it's equally efficient to sand. (Can you tell that I still haven't found a desert in my world?)
For the first farm, you can place the observer facing the bottom part instead of the top part. Sugarcane grows by pushing the cane up, unlike bamboo which just add another block on top of the existing bamboo.
You can place as many observers facing the sugarcane so when it grows, it updates and turns the flying machine and minecarts on :) (which means you don't have to manually flick the lever to farm it)

I'd say based off your comment at the end about older videos, it might seem redundant, but I kinda like the idea of grouping and revamping some older videos into this newer style.
I've made the second farm in my survival world, with the sugar cane on dirt. It works amazing (bedrock), but can be broken if you don't cover the dirt. I found this out as an ender man stole one of the dirt, so all the rails were flooded :D
@@hikton7293 if the sugar cain grows in front of the observer, it can trigger it in the wrong moment, and the flying machine may break. So if you point the observers upwards, that cant happen. If you do that though, just be sure to build it somewhere where it can't snow, or you might run into the same problem ;)

I really like how you show how to deal with things when they go wrong. It feels more human, that things can go wrong even for the people who make the tutorials, and also demonstrates the process for how to fix things when they do.

@@stariron7113 this might be because the dropper isn't around the end of the rain system, or your using a powered rail over the hopper. Maybe the hopper isnt connected too the chest
I play mc bedrock edition, and when i tested the flying machine in the extreme design, it just kept shuffling back and forth. Is there a way to fix this and make it so the machine can still bounce off the other end?

LMAO, when I made this farm I was confused why it wasn't working, until I realized I used a regular minecart instead of a hopper one. Great farm! It helps a lot lol

Made a couple of those mini ones in last last world. They served as neat little art pieces, but made too little sugar to matter. The second style has been good for most of my book and paper making needs.

Thank you for accurate materials lists! I built a bamboo farm the other day from someone else and their list of materials was wildly inaccurate, v frustrating. Left a list in comments for others there tho to hopefully help!
The extreme one does not work sadly, the flying machine pretty much just breaks the end and keeps on going. Wasted my time getting all the resources. 👎
The extreme design is literally what my bamboo farm looks like. Tbh I thought if I could just rather copied the same design and put in sugarcane instead rather than bamboo. I like this design more because it rather use less resources and I could honestly say it gives also decent rewards. It has loud and many minecarts, but I'd rather be willing to make hoppers and minecarts rather than making observers which requires me to go to the nether and overworld constantly.
Thanks for the tutorial and showing the different options! I want to build the third one on bedrock 1.18. Does it need to be in a chunk or does it even fit? Also, does it matter which direction I build certain things? For my pumpkin and melon farm I had to build certain stuff on the south side.
For the Hybrid Farm. Couldn't you add a circuit from the observers to the rails to be powered when an observer sends a signal? Adding some kind of Redstone clock, to extend the power to the rails, giving the Minecart enough time to pass through and pick up all the sugar cane and return to the hoppers. Seem it would be inefficient to use levers to turn on the Minecraft when you feel like it. But I wouldn't want to hear minecarts always moving.
false I had more than enough resources to build it (except for slime I was a few slimballs short but I have still about 30 blocks of iron and gold left) and I need sugar cane mostly because of my like 20 librarians I'm trying to level up
note for the 2nd design, you only need 1 observer per side if you're NOT exceeding the 30 blocks lenght. redstone travels 2 ways so 15 blocks in each direction from the observer. saves on Quartz mining! for 60-ish blocks you need 4 observers, not 120 then ;)
These also work for bamboo. Well, not sure about the last as I've not made it, but I imagine it would work. Bamboo grows so quick that you shouldn't need the extreme design.

What do you change when you build it facing upwards the? Like you sure have to change some blockplacements as well as the observers facing

Bedrock doesn't want flying machine in their game, switch to java

It works perfect for me so i don't know maybe u build it wrong or maybe because your on bedrock but it works perfect for me on 1.19.3 Java Edition

use mud and you can use regular hoppers instead of a minecart but it is more expensive so you do need an iron farm for this method
