Hey! I had a question I am looking at the lanshan 2 pro but i think the normal lanshan may be better for me because I am 5,11 do you have any suggestions!? I am also considering dropping a bunch more money to get and ultra light free standing tent because I am worried that I may go on a hike and the ground will be too hard, but do you think that idea is crazy?
@@greendayscoolgreendayscool7563 Hello. Both are excellent tents. The pro is larger single wall & definitely need to seam seal it. Ther is condensation at times. I love the ten though. The regular is smaller double wall. It’s super sturdy & mine is ingress shape after three years of hard use. Go to my video pro vrs rgluar & the best reliable links are at the bottom of the video. Hey !! Great review :) Just wondering which tent was better for condensation ? on windy nights did wind blow up though the condensation mesh? Thanks so much !!
The Lanshan 2 Pro looks like a great tent. I am using an older style Lanshan 1 currently. Got me thinking of the Lanshan 2 pro in brown really hard. Just have to convince the wife. Thanks. God bless.
Thanks for making this video...I made the switch to hammock camping but I've tentatively got a big trip out west next year that I'll need a tent for. The duplex would be my choice if price weren't a factor but my Big Agnes Cooper Spur UL3 is just too heavy for what I've got in mind. I'm going to look hard at the Pro version...this video was extremely helpful at pointing out the differences. Enjoyed watching!
Great comparison and thanks for sharing. I was wondering what those factory knot for. Can you tell me the location and distance of the factory knots in the guide lines, I untie them by mistake.
The most important ones are the two opening guidelines. I would have to measure when I have tent up again. I guess just play around with them so you can adjust the tension between the two trekking poles.
Ordered a 2 Pro last week. After checking tracking info it was already here in the states and is now at the local distribution center so should have it to check out in a couple of days. Thanks for the comparison of the two. I’m looking forward to getting out on trail with this thing.
I would rather order from 3F UL Gear directly. I had a very negative experience with JY Equipment Store. They charged me VAT prepaid, but didn't mention it in the customs documents. Upon entry in Norway I had to pay it again and..... JY Equipment refused to give me a refund for the prepaid VAT.
I saw this on FACEBOOK and I've never watched this one! I'm getting one of these soon for when my hammock won't suffice! I haven't decided which one yet but this was great timing Tom!
Nice comparison video. Nice tip with the clothes line clip. I don’t think that bug bivy is feasible for an adult. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Restless Wonderer 👍👍 Yes it’s annoying. I’m excited about using this pro version. The extra length & width makes a world of difference. Appreciate the comment.
Would be curious to know how you think the Lanshans compare with the Backbone? I recently got a 2p backbone and I'm happy with it, but I have been looking at potentially lighter weight options that don't cost an arm and a leg. From what I gather online the Lanshan 2 is a biy smaller than the Backbone in terms of inner width, but the pro is basically on par without the tapered end.
Hello! I do like the pro a lot. It’s a bit lighter but not that much. I think it’s an easier setup. But, I like the Backbone 2p High bathtub & large pockets. Not sure that helps. I usually switch back & forth. Long multiple nights i’d go lighter with the pro. 👍👍
Yea I guess it all depends on the trip. The pockets were a huge deciding factor for me on the Backbone. Not sure why other manufacturers skimp on that detail
I don't use trekking poles to hike & have no intention of buying them just to erect this tent. Add the poles to the overall weight to get a fair comparison with other similar tents.
What are other similar tents at this price? Don’t use trekking poles? But the 48” carbon fiber folding ultra light tent poles. Zpack duplex ones work great. 👍
@@FOLLOWINGWALKERSWORLD I am hiking 650 miles over 35 days next May & am looking at a tent for the job. I love the weight of the Lanshan but doubt its durability & build. 711honved Sounds good. You should go with what you feel comfortable with. I know 3 AT thru hikers that used the regular Lanshan 2 the whole trip. I personally have about 1500 miles on one. Worked great on my JMT hike. Not familiar with those other tents nor seen many reviews on them. Thanks

Hello Thanks. Yes I have used the Pro a few times since. I prefer it. However it has to be seam sealed (I have a video on that). Since it’s single wall, there can be condensation. It’s larger & easier to set up & lighter. Both tents are really good. If I had to pick only one, it would be the regular Lanshan 2. Hope this helps & please subscribe to the channel. Good luck. 👍

Hello Dan, Well I have had some condensation issues off and on. I really think it’s where you camp. Stream, lake etc. I was out for a few extreme cold nights with no condensation. Wandering Wiley Thanks. Pro is a great tent. That company for AliExpress in my video really came through quick from China. I think I put a link to them in that video. Good Luck!👍
Bro, thank you for this comparison. But I really don't understand how the Lashan Pro solved the "bug between net and tent" problem. Would you please care to elaborate? I cannot find clear images on this...
Oh, I looked at another video... I guess they removed the net? So you are sleeping straight under the Nylon bit? Doesn't it make it colder? I guess you can't buy the 4-season version, like you can with regular Lashan, is that right? Would so appreciate if you could clarify this. I love my Lashan and might add some upgrades to it. ;)
@@millanferende6723 Just a little clarification, I learned this in another youtube video: the tent does nothing to keep you warm besides keeping you dry and blocking the wind. It's insulation is negligible. What separates 3 and 4 season tents is their durability, namely the strength of wind they can endure and the amount of snowfall they can take without collapsing. Hope that helps some!
Hello. I’ve spent many of cold nights in them. No tent is warm. You can close up the vestibule to block wind but should keep some air flow to reduce condensation. Great Tent!! Thanks 👍👍
The Lanshan 2 pro is a hair over 2 lbs. It is very similar & even lighter than most Free standing tents that are Sil Nylon. However the expensive Dyneema tents (zpacks) are much lighter at a high price. Weather it’s the regular or pro Lanshan 2, they are extremely light tents. 👍✌️
FOLLOWING WALKERS WORLD yeah I’ve been seeing more and more companies using the Dyneema. Tarp Tents have most of their lines with that option and they’re all over $500
I usually find that 125 cm or between 48 to 50 inches is a good height. All depends on how high you feel comfortable with. But those heights work for me. 👍👍
John, if your going to get one tent, go for the Lanshan 2 regular. It’s been great for me for over 2 years. I have a link in my Lanshan 2 vrs Lanshan pro that seems to be the most reliable one. 👍
So the lanshan pro is a single wall and the Lanshan 2 is a double wall.. So basically the Lanshan pro is just a Zpac Duplex made of 20D silnylon instead of CubanFiber
Nice review Tom. You made me laugh trying out that coffin. Bugs bother me too but I've had my pro out 1 time and was slapping bugs off the tent all evening. Might be the smell since the tent was new but at least they not between the mesh.
@@halabujioutdoors I do, but I didn't get to it yet. I still had a problem with bugs after treating with Permethrin on the yellow Lanshan 2. My new gray one doesn't attract as many bugs.
Interesting video! As a tall person (191 cm, a good 6'3) I'm looking for a light weight tent and interested in the Lanshan 2 pro. I'm also a side sleeper and have the Big Agness insulated Q core matress, which is 10cm (height). Do you think this will still fit in the Lanshan 2 pro without touching the outer wall?
Hey from Sweden! Love the video. I have the regular Lanshan 2 and the extra length to keep the tent wall off my feet and/or head at night seemed like a good enough reason to upgrade. That was the only problem I encountered with condensation while hiking on Iceland with the regular one. Was using an Exped pad, seemed to be the same thickness as yours and I'm only 5'9 so the Pro is looking promising. :) I know this is an older video by now, but for us across the Atlantic I'd love to see some grams on screen when you're talking about the weight of things! Keep it up and thanks! :D
I love those mini groundhog stakes. I’ve never used a Lanshan before. There really popular. Looks like a whole lot more headroom when your sleeping. Feel like your in a coffin 😂. I don’t like those either. Cool video my friend 👍
Leapin lizards! We all bought the same color! 😂 They say "Great minds think alike"... 😄 When I got this, I immediately thought that this was the size tent for you! Great review of both tents! Thanks IceBear. Yes I had to get the tent. Got to keep up with the rest of the tramily. Yes there are a ton of critters down here in Florida many people do not know exist. I see you out on the trail again with sweeps. Cool. Hope to see everyone again soon.
Review? You mean preview. Right out of the box is useless to others. Use it, test it, take some time with it. Only then you can say something meaningfull

Thanks Tony... I thought you had one already. I know you have the 1 person right? Appreciate it. Tom
@@FOLLOWINGWALKERSWORLD yeah we got 1 person havent gotten 2 yet
I'm a bit afraid to order stuff from China, but it works out most of the time. Thanks for the review, a good one! Greetings from Belgium
Nice review Tom. You made me laugh trying out that coffin. Bugs bother me too but I've had my pro out 1 time and was slapping bugs off the tent all evening. Might be the smell since the tent was new but at least they not between the mesh.
Have you treated your tent, fabric and mesh, with permethrin?
@@halabujioutdoors I do, but I didn't get to it yet. I still had a problem with bugs after treating with Permethrin on the yellow Lanshan 2. My new gray one doesn't attract as many bugs.
nice review,thanks
have a great day
Thanks, you too! I appreciate it.
What’s the music at the start? 😀
Just from UA-cam audio library
Interesting video! As a tall person (191 cm, a good 6'3) I'm looking for a light weight tent and interested in the Lanshan 2 pro. I'm also a side sleeper and have the Big Agness insulated Q core matress, which is 10cm (height). Do you think this will still fit in the Lanshan 2 pro without touching the outer wall?
Yes that should fit with no problem.
Great review Tom. I’m still holding out and am actually looking into getting a hammock. Definitely won’t get the bivy 😂
Hiking the 2nd 1/2 of life Ahhh. Going the swing route! Lol NO don’t get the bivy. I though I was trapped. 👍
Nice job man. Very thorough....👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Much! 👍
Are both double walled?
No the Pro is single wall & is subject to some condensation
Pro is single walled. 👍
Hello Stefan. Thanks Much & Yes!! I will start using grams in the future. Good luck!!👍👍
I love those mini groundhog stakes.
I’ve never used a Lanshan before. There really popular. Looks like a whole lot more headroom when your sleeping.
Feel like your in a coffin 😂. I don’t like those either. Cool video my friend 👍
great review!
Thanks Dan! 👍
Leapin lizards! We all bought the same color! 😂 They say "Great minds think alike"... 😄 When I got this, I immediately thought that this was the size tent for you! Great review of both tents! I absolutely love the beginning of this video too. Beautiful footage of some unique critters! I've never seen several of them. I can't believe you got that Lanshan in 8 days- blows my mind. Oooh, that is a tiny bivy. ⚰ Great video! #lanshanclan 👊
Thanks IceBear. Yes I had to get the tent. Got to keep up with the rest of the tramily. Yes there are a ton of critters down here in Florida many people do not know exist. I see you out on the trail again with sweeps. Cool. Hope to see everyone again soon.
great video!!
Thank you!!
Ok so i guess with my 193cm height i will go for lanshen 2 pro :) thanks
Yes! Go to that link in one of my Lanshan pro videos. Reliable place to buy it. 👍
Review? You mean preview. Right out of the box is useless to others. Use it, test it, take some time with it. Only then you can say something meaningfull
Mine came only with 7 specs
That Bug bivy was probably designed for dem Chinese fellas.... 😂 I don't think there will be a condensation problem at all the lanshan 2 already being so well ventilated at the vestibule ends... ATB Dave Mc
