*This is likely his biggest hit ever. In the 70s...the radio stations would play this over and over when school was let out for the summer break. Everyone driving away from school would have their car radios playing loudly and their windows rolled down as the drove off into summer. For seeing the early stuff, try his first big hit...ya gotta react to "I'm Eighteen" from 1971.*

Yeah, you're so right 'bout "eighteen"!!! "School's out" 's not da gut (as a vocal nand musical performance) comparing to some of Alice's best ones: "dwight fry", "no mr nice guy", "Under my wheels"

Saw Alice Cooper in concert when I was 15. My dad asked me what concert I was going to and I said Alice Cooper. He said who'd she? Lol years later Alice Cooper would play golf with my brother in law in Phoenix Az. Quite alot.

The singer is Alice Cooper (Vincent Fournier)
This song came out in 1972 and I was in 11th grade. I got to see him the next year when he was doing the Billion Dollar Babies tour.
You talk about a show? Holy hell!

This song has been an anthem for summer and Graduation for DECADES. Alice's dad is a Preacher. He got the name Alice Cooper from A Ouiji Board. He looked up the name, and found it belonged to a 16th century Witch ( Supposedly)

Yep, everyone who went to school in the 70s adopted this as their theme song. My dad was a school principal back then, and even though he wasn't into rock & roll, he used to blast the vinyl record of School's Out over the PA system as the final announcement on the last day of school.

This song was a hit In `72 and he was here in Germany when we elected a new government and many people who at that time still had faith in a social workers' party called the SPD. I wasn't allowed to vote yet :-( The boss at the time was Willy Brand and yes, he was really good. There were badges that bore his name "Willy vote" and Alice Cooper wear one of those. He then also has five D-Mark bills in them the crowd passed - today about 5 bucks I think that was a great party at the time thanks for sharing and best wishes @all from hamburg (Germany)

It's hard to believe now, but in the 70s we could turn on the radio in the morning, leave it on all day. On the same station. And hear everything. Alice Cooper, O'Jays, ACDC, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Debbie Boone, The Spinners. On and on. There was no such thing as every station being owned by some corporation, that did all the programming in L.A.

Ah, yes. Humming this in class to annoy the teachers.
And another song, with the lead singer whose sideburns looked like Axminster has been glued all over his face who also had giant teeth, with the chorus, “Shhh! Oooh oooh shhh ah!” I can’t remember the title of it. Best retort from the Scots history teacher - “OK, let’s have a little more of the shush, shall we? Now, turning to Henry VIII and Cardinal Wolsey. What caused the rift between the two?”
