Uhg. I hate this Group HD setting. It forced my camera to go HD even though I did not have that selected on my personal settings. Going HD caused my camera to ZOOM out when I started to speak and everyone could see all the clips holding up my backdrop. I didn't know it had done that until after my speaking was over. Terrible idea!
Hi Thanks for the video. Please explain something to me; Do I have to enable this setting in my personal account or it's supposed to be the host's account that needs this setting?
Paul, correct me if I'm wrong here, but 720p is not available with the free version of Zoom, but only Pro and above. Can you confirm? Cheers and thanks.
Is GROUP HD setting only for gallery view? I record in the cloud both speaker and gallery view, and I need to have at least 720 HD for speaker view. What should I do? 1. click 'HD' at the video settings 2. click 'Group HD' at the In Meeting (Advanced) Is this correct?
Hi @StreamGeeks Im using hardwired connection with 200 to 300mbps. I am using OBS where I input there my 2 HD cameras, and then I use the NDI Virtual Input as the camera input for my Zoom but still, the send output is 360p
Great content as always! @ 4:33 I see that Zoom will currently support 720P under 2 conditions: #1) 2 person meeting #2) Speaker view (with 3 or more people) After updating to the latest Windows client I've been able to see 720P for #1 (but NOT for #2) As soon as the 3rd device enters all video (in any view) is capped at 360P 🤔
@@StreamGeeks Yes, I'm not sure why I can't get speaker view any higher quality than 360P? Also, I've noticed that once the 3rd person is added the resolution drops down (from 720p to 360p) however if I eliminate all but 2 participants the meeting will NEVER return to 720p. (only restarting the meeting with 2 participants works) . .
That's terrible. I teach online classes and wanted to record it for UA-cam channel later. But I have usually 20 students at a time. The 360p is annoying.
It's sad that Full HD used to just be on when possible. Now you have to contact Zoom support to even have the option show up in your settings. And they ask you WHY you need it when you request it...maybe because 240x180 is almost worse than having no video...
Hi Oscar, it is possible to brand your Zoom waiting room. Maybe we should make a video about that? But no you cannot send audio into the waiting room yet.
Hello, thank you for this video! Question: I used to use my desktop with OBS & Zoom but my desktop is too old to recognize my ProFX audio interface. So I switched to Zoom on my MAC so I could use ProFX. I want to connect OBS for better video, but it creates extremely choppy video on Zoom. Thought maybe I needed to connect ethernet cord instead of use Wifi, but my MAC, funny enough, won't recognize ethernet connection! Any thoughts? Thinking to throw my hands up and get a new desktop, LOL.
I have had group HD enabled and HD enabled for camera.. But zoom seems to downscale virtual camera inputs from VMIX and OBS, on it's own whim. Occasionally I'll see 720p, but often it drops 360p or lower. Do you have any tips for virtual camera output settings to get zoom to stay at 720p?
Once you have group HD enabled and HD enabled for the camera, the best thing you can do is update your client and use a hardwired ethernet connection. We have had so many issues we have switched to LiveToAir but, it shows Zoom is capable of 1080p and they are likely soon going to roll out better access to higher resolution video.
@@StreamGeeks it also seems my local CPU/memory load influences downscaling... One work around is to share my camera feed that forces higher res... and yah.. I've been waiting on an eventual zoom update to make it better..
@@StreamGeeks I have used it share 2nd camera in the past for smoother video & HD, but with retest now, I see zoom also can downscale the resolution.. ugh..
Hi. I'm a class teacher and want to buy the premium Zoom account for 1080p video quality. In this case, will the students who do not have the premium account be able to view my video in 1080p as well?
thank you so much for this video but Im still having a problem with my ZOOM pro Account. I already enabled the "Group HD" on the account settings, then on my Client Desktop Zoom application the "HD" option is checked too but my "SEND" resolution in the statistics window is still on 640 by 360
@@StreamGeeks Im using hardwired connection with 200 to 300mbps. I am using OBS where I input there my 2 HD cameras, and then I use the NDI Virtual Input as the camera input for my Zoom but still, the send output is 360p
If I have Group HD checked and I have a Spotlighted participant that does not have strong bandwidth, will my audio quality suffer as a result, making the audio choppy and/or dropping? In what I am trying to accomplish, it is more important to have better quality audio than video. Thanks!
Hi Lance, the good news is that Zoom will always optimize audio over video in low bandwidth situations. In fact, Zoom will simply stop video all together in order to preserve audio quality. Audio takes less bandwidth than video so it should be pretty smooth. Audio streams require roughly 128 kbps of bandwidth
It's not clear to me how other participants are affected by this setting. Can setting to HD cause issues for participants due to limited bandwidth or will Zoom sort it?
Hi Peter, Zoom will most definitely sort out low bandwidth situations. This is just optimizing HD video for those who have the computer and bandwidth to handle it. Have you found this feature in your Zoom settings?
I have Core i5 so isn't there any possibility that I can get the Group HD? In its system requirements, i7 Quad Core (physical core) CPU or higher is mentioned..
This video would have saved me endless hours of troubleshooting Zoom video image quality issues for a big live stream back in January.
Yeah, this isn’t even a new feature which is why we wanted to share it. Have any ideas for an upcoming video about Zoom?

When you get the recording files, if you've used >>> "FULL SCREEN" + "SPOTLIGHT" + "SPEAKER" mode

It was mentioned in the video that it needs to be paid.

This only works in spotlight mode correct so if you are sharing a desktop or application it will revert back to SD?
It depends, but yes you can also pin the person you want in full HD

Can you broadcast your own audio into the Zoom waiting room?
