    It would be lovely to meet your mom on your podcast - if I remember correctly you mentioned she taught you to knit. She must be very proud of where knitting has taken you and your beautiful makes.

    It's amazing how parents-to-be give us so much warning about their upcoming babies, and we're still frantically gift knitting to the last possible second! Thanks for reminding me I've got one to finish quickly

    Hi! I definitely found it helpful to measure preblocked and blocked swatch both stitch and row gauge. Then you can calculate how much growth in length you will get and work backwards to figure out when to stop arms and body!

    Hello ladies!! I have a twin brother, so it’s really neat to watch you all together. I also grew up in Kansas, albeit the opposite corner of the state. Love your projects so much. I’m a very experienced crocheter, but I just figured out how to knit. Would you all mind on one of your episodes recommending some beginner sweater patterns? That would be so awesome. Thanks for the great videos!

    For the button hole worries, I would suggest some quiet time "embroidery" with the same yarn and making some blanket stitches around the holes or some satin stitch around the holes.

    Once I bought a cashmere sweater at Hudson Bay, a department store here in Canada, I thought it was oatmeal beige, and I got home, and threw it on the counter, forgot about it, then saw it and was like, “what is that? “ , as it was totally lavender, and I picked it up, and yes, it was my “oatmeal” cashmere sweater. So there must be something about lighting and mauve, and beiges.

    Someone else already mentioned it and I agree that I would call Jessica's buttons toggle buttons. I just finished a cardigan for my nephew using them and was also worried about how they would work in practicality. What I found is that the more traditional way to use toggle buttons is to sew the button at the end of a crochet chain and to also crochet a toggle on the other button band instead of making buttonholes. I didn't like that look too much and I had already made buttonholes so something that really helped was sewing them on with a shank to lift them away from the fabric a bit. Roxanne Richardson has a great tutorial for that.

    • @thosetwinswhoknit

      This was my first time using toggle buttons, so it was definitely a little different than what I’m normally used to! I’ll look up that tutorial! Thank you for the suggestion!

    Your knits are lovely. Just a question. In Australia and aran weight yarn is a 10 ply and worsted weight yarn is 12 ply. Is this different in America as I've heard a few podcasters seem to refer to aran as being heavier than worsted?

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 місяців тому +1

      I’ve heard the terms can definitely vary depending on your location, but I’ve always considered them pretty similar with Aran yarn being slightly thicker. I usually think of worsted weight as knit on US 7-9 needles and Aran weight as knit on US 8-10, but I’m also a super tight knitter, so take that with a grain of salt! 😅 ~Jess

    I’m curious to know how your socks made from the coast to coast yarn wears. I noticed they don’t seem to have any nylon in them except for the cashmere one. You seem to love them for socks and they’re yarns are so beautiful, so I’m hoping they are also durable. Or do you do something to strengthen the areas on your socks that wear harder than other areas? Love your podcast!

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi! Thank you so much! We mostly have used the “Classic Sock” base which does contain nylon. To be honest, we are probably not the best source to confirm durability because we try to be super gentle with our knit socks. We don’t tend to wear them all day everyday, and stick to shoes that don’t rub them too much, and also always hand wash/air dry. We’d definitely be curious to hear how someone who’s a little rougher with their socks finds them, though!
