Does the Tempus rank at all? Used the Arahis for a long time as an overpronator with flat feet, but I’ve switched to the Tempus for a long time and I think I’ll be using the Tempus for my upcoming marathon. Is there another shoe with super foam you’d recommend?

Could you maybe do a review on the Hoka Gaviota 5. I am really interested about your thoughts. I also just started listening to this podcast on my runs and it is awesome. I love learning more about running shoes and I am looking for a new daily trainer. I am in high school so I am entering winter track season in about 4 weeks. I have mild overpronation I believe. I also run about 20-25 miles a week

Asics GT 2000 12 or GT 1000 13 are the best for overpronation! Haven't tried GT 2000 13 but i think it will be great too

I love shoes that are Max support and Max cushion and the ASICS Kayano 30 is the best I’ve seen!! Just get that!

100% agree. The Kayano 27/28/29 sucked. Zero responsiveness from day one.
Asics realised they had to fix the Kayano model and have succeeded with the 30. A really good shoe.👍

A lot of people confuses stability-shoes. Most users overpronate, told that they need a more stable/wider shoe. If you overpronate, like most stability-shoe users, wider shoe gives you no more support. Medial suport is key.
My prime example(litteraly) is Prime-X. That is widly regarded as an unstable shoe. Overpronators dont have problems with this shoe. it have "higher medial stack) so the "incorrect angels" in ur foot are corrected. Saucony guide 15/16 has the best medial support for foerpronaters. My opinion

    good views, i use a chart on a 4d axis stability>neutral and fatigue>fresh.
if im super fresh its SuperBlast but if im hitting the wall its the Kayano28. between them shoes i use guide15 kayano29 GT2000/12

Have you tried the Kayano 30? I've used Kayano's for 20 years and the 27's and 28's sucked. Zero responsiveness from day one on both those shoes. Kayano 30's have had a complete revamp and are a much better/responsive shoe. 👍

@@rosslogan4154 K30 poor update, step backwards. Bulky heavy harsh, NB 860v13 far superior for myself if I’m feeling fatigue. Currently enjoying brooks glycerin21 stealthfit none gts or brooks Hyperion max, both work well if a passive to moderate stability.

I've been running in the Pegasus Trail 4. Very stable, nice and cushy, has eliminated any foot issues I've had in the past. It basically has guide rails on both sides, and your foot sits down in the midsole. I feel like I'm part of the shoe when running in the Trail 4.

How about the need for just overall cushion and support for working and walking and standing all day long at a retail store on concrete?? I have always been a neutral person in shoes. But at age 56 and having a problem in the last few years from poisoning from an antibiotic. I lost my ability to walk last year for a while..I am fine now and in good health. So I have been wearing Asics Gel Kayano 28 and now the 29..29 for last 4 months..before hand NB 880..but that shoe changed or my feet did. I dont do inserts. They always seem to intrusive. I don't have problems with ankles..just sore heels around the plantar now and then because of how long I am on concrete. Mainly the right foot. I am interested in the Kayano 30 but will wait till the price comes down. I have medium arch. But would all neutral be ok like the Nova blast? I switched from NB to Asics because of widths. I am a 10.5-11 4E. I just want comfort in shock impact and support and long lasting. I have no issues moving again and am a fast mover. Is a stability shoe that feels like a neutral shoe a problem? I have felt no issues with these new Stability/neutral shoes except that I noticed in 3-6 months they wear on the inside and the inserts break down. Any helpful in would be great. I hear great things about the Novablast for everyday, but width could be a problem. Not a runner, just a fast walker and on concrete 8-9 hours a day

I’m a neutral runner and it seems like I can run on almost all trainers nowadays unless they’re extremely tight in the forefoot. I tried out the saucony tempus this past summer and really struggled finding a balance with them. I had to send them back because I think the stability aspect was trying to change my gait. Is that typical with stability shoes?

I have knee and lower back issues . I think I need a shoe with a low drop at 6 mm heel to toe and for flat feet with wide toe box

To me the arahi is probably hoka’s most supportive shoe, the gaviota aka bondi 2.0 only have the EVA h plate isn’t really that supportive.. like for me the Kayano 30 I would fit neutral people that need a bit of support. Asics don’t really make any real stability shoes anymore… I also totally agree the GT 2000 feels more of a stability shoe to me. I probably would have put the arahi as the most support shoes out of the bunch. With that J FRAME it’s really only a few brand shoes that are that support still
The H frame is the same as the Vongo support system. I think the Vongo does a lot better tho.

Looking at me running, I can see I pronate alot, to what extend is it an option to go for a Super Shoe for like a 5k or 10k Race knowing what my body gets to endure already on Stability shoes ?
Also, if stability shoes are so key, how come all top marathon runners use Carbon shoes, U can't tell me that none of the top athletes overpronate.

  • @TomUK7

Is there more to consider than just pronation with stability shoes? For instance, if you run over uneven and degraded roads should you avoid a neutral shoe to avoid twisting an ankle? Would you need a stability shoe because it makes you less prone to losing your balance?! 😂 Seems like a dumb question but every review talks about stability shoes only with regards to pronation.

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  10 місяців тому

Having stable elements can be helpful for situations like that if you are having issues. There are subtle stable things we see in shoes we call stable neutral that would help provide a little more control if you run on uneven surfaces all the time. Some might benefit, some it might not matter. We really focus on just showcasing shoes that do have some or more stable features for those that want it.

We wanted to focus on thinking about stability through 10 fairly different shoes, and also shoes both have had a chance to put a lot of miles in. Not really about just 2023 shoes, but shoes with different characteristics too that runners might choose between. Hard to just pick ten!

The adrenaline is NOT as stable as the launch GTS . Launch GTS is probably the most stable shoe on the market . The extra stack height on the adrenaline negates the function of the guide rails especially for severe over pronators . The problem with the launch is the traction in the wet as well as the lockdown can be abit fiddly - but incredibly stable

Whats with Adidas and that lateral heel bevel.? Ruins several Afidas shoes. And no escape, no adidas that is more neutral with a plate.
