I met Sean many years ago and still have the Motorola jersey he signed for me! A real gentleman and truly talented cyclist. If I remember correctly Sean did 13 TDFs!! Yes, he is a real legend of the sport. Great interview, loved it.
Sean Yates. Biggest legend in cycling!
Sean Yates what a cycling 🚲 legend 👏👏👏👍🇬🇧
"If you got a job to do, you might as well get on with it, and do it properly" Big respect, Sean 🤟
Around 1979 I was one of the first to sport lycra balaclava and over socks at the uk track championships for the individual pursuit. I had them made. Sean had my spare pair, wore them both and won. I wore the socks but couldn't come around to wearing the balaclava lol 😂.
Junior world team pursuit squad trained with the Olympic squad. Following sean and Tony Doyle was like following a pair of motor bikes. Think he was riding for Archer RC Cutty Sark .
GREAT POD GUYS..BEST LEGEND YET ON THIS SERIES!! Hes such a huge star in our sport. SEAN EFFIN YATES IS SUPERSTAR LEGEND!!!
The best cycling interview I've ever seen. Beautiful Animal.
Sean Yeats a true gentlemen and legend of 1990s pro cycling.
Whenever it starts to hurt, my inner dialogue says: “Be more Sean.”
Can't wait to read Sean's book
There's not much I can say, except that was great, as I knew it would be with Sean Yates. Thanks!
Top bloke Sean is, 👍🚴 what a great era of the sport 👌
proud to be english watching this, yates is a legend! three generations of cyclists love the man!!
👏👏👏 Johan. & Hincapie, first time I know about Yates!
This interview seemed to get across the essence of who Sean Yates is. I say that as someone who knew almost nothing about him going in. Enjoyed it! His accent reminds me of Ben Tulett's. Wonder if they're from the same area.
Shawn was talking about a small town out of Santa Rosa about 30 miles West called Cazadaro, (They climbed Tin Barn and King's ridge) The Coors Classic race did some of that same course , I think Bob Roll and Todd Gagolski (Sp?) finished ahead of the field.
Great show guys.
at 26:00 Sean's Cassette at the TDF is that a 21? the strongmen of the time!
Brilliant , gan on Yatise great stuff youngun
I don't know what I expected Sean to sound like, but I didn't expect him to sound like that.
He's from Forest Row so it makes sense.
Gen. Omar Bradley was the last 5 star General. He died in 1982.
Super Domestique! 🚴💨
I believe he still holds and has the fastest recorded speed in a tour de France time which he won .
'88 for Fagor, on one of those weird looking low pro frames and no tri bars. He set off with a tail wind so it was in his favour that day. In the pictures you can see a blue t-shirt underneath that he bought at a surf shop on the cheap. The guy cracks me up sometimes. Met him after a national champs event shortly after he retired. Seemed bizarrely down to earth and made no fuss about who he was. ua-cam.com/video/oVTumN8r6Lc/v-deo.html
He's good-crazy
Hauser Bridge off Tin Barn.
Nothing in cycling has ever been "more dope" than George and Sean screaming up the lower slopes of Alpe d'Huez to drop Heras and Lance off, after riding some of the best climbers in the world of their wheels, as in "doped".
What are you talking about? Yatest retired in 1996, Heras joined USP in 2001. In the 2001 Alpe d'Huez stage, Hincapie was dropped on the first climb of the day, in 2023, he pulled off after about 100 yards ... In 2001, Rubiera did the damage and Heras did not feature, in 2003, Beltran dropped nearly everyone, including Heras... Yes, US Postal doped heavily but doesn't excuse you making stuff up.
That doesn't add up. Are you fluent in the language of bullshit?
Lance pulling the Diva card....Again.
We still love you tho buddy ...lol
anti-bike fit fit! 😊
Uncle bike fit.
i do wonder if he damaged himself, pushing so hard, and his appaling diet...but a rear warrior
T.U.E.'s? therapeutic use exemption
Time trial.
Dog turds.
Yes....
I'm a big fan of this channel and want to celebrate Sean's contribution to cycling. However, talking about marginal gains in 2024 and not mentioning that all the SKY riders were on TUE's is ridiculous and tone deaf. Just skip over it. Don't take credit for "marginal gains".
cry more 😂
SeattleMarko-Thank you for an amazing interview. There is something Sean mentioned around the 59th minute of your interview about having a pacemaker.
I am a year younger than Sean and a number of my era of competitive cycling peers also have pacemakers. One of them has theory about our lack of proper hydration during our training and racing years?
My pacemaker was implanted 7 years ago after an “event” while riding. Glad to be alive to type this message to you. Would appreciate you considering an exploration into this health issue with ex-racers to educate old, current and future ones. A good interview could start with a guy who raced a little and has a pacemaker. Do you happen to know a guy named Eddy Merckx?😏🚵🏼♂️👍❤
