The MAW detects the exhaust plume of the IR missiles and dumps a bunch of flare/chaff until the warning goes away. Problem is that the default MAW dump amount cant be changed and it uses all your flares in a few bursts, and it triggers for friendly missiles as well. It's best to take the countermeasures off the MAW slaving

Less tail causes the aircraft to change pitch. This increases induced drag (due to new trim drag). Although you may have possibly lost form and parasite drag.
Tbh the JH-7A reminds me more to a twin-engined Mirage F1.
Also the most effective way to attack a carrier is approaching from the bow, because there are no guns that can aim to whatever is on the bow of the carrier as the carrier doesn't get any guns on the bow and the aft guns are lower than the flight deck meaning they can only shoot at something approaching from the bow at a considerably higher altitude than the altitude of the flight deck.

you can use the mouse wheel to use "half afterburner" and not use so much fuel if you're worried. Go to 100% throttle, and gently increase to WEP with your mouse wheel but don't go all the way and you'll still have afterburners and not use so much fuel.

Looking forward to seeing if you can make the JH-7A work as a bomber. I tried it in Sim earlier (sadly against the hordes of UFO-16's) and while it flies fine and can beat an F-4 in a dogfight, the HUD is just lacking critical things. Like it doesn't have a radar lock indicator on the HUD, nor does it have the bomb fall line for the CCRP, so good luck hitting anything with bombs unless you plan to dive bomb.
You can lock onto planes with the radar if you put it in the narrow sweep mode and press your radar lock key
Less tail means more drag because of the insane drag caused by having twisted shredded metal and jagged bullet holes all over your airframe, once you take a hit your plane becomes way less aerodynamic, and vortexes and flow separation occur whenever there is an irregularity in your airframe

I’ve never seen anyone make bombing a carrier as complicated as I just saw just now in this video
100% agree 11.7 and up should be locked away from 11.3 and down
Also when you get a radar lock it will give you a targeted reticle for your cannons

Yes CCRP is the way to go if you have it available. Many don’t even bother to lookup if a plane has it or not.
You also need a proper HUD for ccrp bombing in sim. F111 does not have this.

Toastman have you tried using the SAS control mode and switching it to damping. It makes flying much better on sim. Almost like an auto trim mode. It’s very helpful. Also turning the MAW system off in the F111A is good as well because it will just dump your countermeasures when you don’t want to then to for the most part. I’d say it’s only useful when your expecting to get into a situation when your going to get locked up and hit with a missile. That being said it’s best to just chaff and flare at your own choice.

7 months late but, @ 22:45 The 14% is how much crew is left. Jumps to 37%, I'm guessing, because it hits below 0% crew as it dies and confuses the display.
I know I’m late but try dropping along the deck of the carrier I kill them with 16 500s on the f16 just get low and come in from the bow of the ship and drop all the way down the deck
Is this with a HOTAS I just got one and I have flown other simulators but even being easy on the controls the planes feel jerky have lots of problems getting my nose on target let alone keeping it there to line up shots or even stranding runs. I know it’s takes some getting used to but still.
Hi, jets are really wobbly in war thunder but you can bind a button for "Stability Augmentation System" and you can toggle "control damping" to make the plane smoother. I also have a video showing my flightstick settings here. ua-cam.com/video/yxlJdJLZb_E/v-deo.html
@@CptToastman thanks I was watching more videos after and found out I wasn’t using SAS at all and found it helped.. I still haven’t flown in sim yet with my new hotas but I have been in test flight with most of my jets to get the feel for them as well as using the old mouse joystick to play arb because flying cockpit view with a hotas in arb seems to be more of a hindering aspect just of how planes feel compared to sim. I can’t fly a hotas in exterior view at all.
I usually just drop 4x 2000lbs bombs on the deck and it sinks every time with one go. I wonder why 4x 3000 lbs bombs didnt do it.

why cant you sweep the wings back with stuff on the outer pylons?
It is blocked because of the ordinance. The outer pylons do not adjust themselves unlike the inner two.

Yes you can your research on f111s the outer pylons we do designed to rotate with the wings due to flight performance issues
