- Traditional Japanese style meals have been recognized as an Intangible Cultural Property of Japan by
UNESCO, and as such, have garnered attention worldwide. Today we'd like to introduce you to Yayoi Ken,
a restaurant chain where you can fully enjoy authentic Japanese style meals.
A set meal served in Japan is said to consist of a bowl of rice as the staple dish with miso or other
kinds of soup, pickled vegetables, and a main dish featuring either a meat or fish. This sort of meal
is often prepared at home but can be found at many popular restaurants as well.
The ‘ichiju sansai’ style of set meal in Japan is the basis of the Yayoi Ken menu. ‘Ichiju sansai’
indicates traditional Japanese food that consists of rice with soup along with three other dishes,
a main dish, and 2 side dishes. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that eating this style of
meal is the secret to longevity, seeing as with this meal you enjoy balanced portions of highly
nutritious foods.

I rarely ever get to visit Japan but I'm lucky to be able to visit my hometown every year in Thailand. We got Yayoi there too! and it's always delicious Japanese comfort food.
I love FUKUOKA though! Went there once, such charming city and people were extra nice compared to other bigger cities.

I didn’t know about Yaoyaiken when I went to Japan last year. But I checked Google Maps and two of my hotels are a block or two away from a Yaoyaiken…and I’ll be going back to Japan in a week…I can’t wait to try this place out.

yes, last year, it was a beef sukiyaki set (it was December), and I couldn't believe i could finish the whole thing :0

This is why Japanese people are so much thinner and live healthier. Compare this meal with mcdonalds, and you can see why. No sweet soft drinks, healthy protein source, complex carbs with nutrients.

I just love rice in Japan. It is not quite the same elsewhere. It has amazing rice fragrance, flavor, and texture! I guess how it is cooked does count, too! I wonder if they have vegan friendly menus there. By the way, what a pretty and pleasant young lady Kay is. Are there more uploads that feature her? I enjoy your channel very much!
Thank you for watching our video and commenting on it. The Japanese rice has indeed a special, unique flavor compared to rice from other countries. Especially Japanese like their rice so much that when they travel abroad, many of them take rice with them because they simply don't like the taste of foreign rice. In Japan, rice is nearly always cooked in a rice cooker. You can choose from different cooking types to make the rice the way you like (soft, dry, etc).
Although many restaurants offer vegetarian dishes lately, the number of vegan-friendly menus is still low.

お店が流行る前から利用してますが、定食注文だとご飯おかわり自由で、そこが差別化出来てる大きな理由だとおもいますね。普通はおかわり出来ないし出来ても一杯までですから。必ず３杯はおかわりしますね。
