The art of storytelling. THIS is what makes a good channel. These guys are true creators and masters of their craft. We love them and look to them for inspiration. 😍
The Coromandel is a beautiful area. I am a 65 year old retired guy and live by myself in my caravan. For the last couple of weeks I have been doing a very slow meander on the Coromandel Peninsula. Yesterday (10 April) I travelled from Whitianga, where I had been parked up for a week, to Coromandel village. Planning on staying here until Easter Monday, when I will travel up to Auckland to look after my 6 year old granddaughter for the school holidays while my daughter and son-in-law work.
Coromandel town on the west coast is very cute and is the gateway to beautiful beaches on the East Coast. Coromandel is a bit of an artistic centre and Easter has a great exhibition at the old school. There is a big hill to go over to the East coast but on the other side is Whnangapoua and at its end is the world famous New Chums beach. A good shop with yummy coffee and cake at Whangapoua. In Coromandel you should go to Driving Creek Railway, a little train goes through the regenerating bush, designed by a potter, that takes you to the Eye Full tower and wonderful views back to Aucklamd. The beaches on the East coast are beautiful, especially Whangapoua. Enjoy
You must go visit the Coromandel Mussel Kitchen while you're over that side of the Coromandel. Its well worth a visit. Also, take the dingy up to Coromandel township on the high tide and check out the cool little stores.
Don't know how far around Coromandel you are gonna go, but if you get to Whitianga (east coast) check out the Lost Spa. They are natural spring pools, walkable from marina, and amazing.
I like your “day in the life” episodes. Offers a feel for what its really like out there and helps dispel the notion that you are on a never-ending vacation. Thanks.
Your boat seems to have held up very well. Not many big repairs that are not normal . Sad you had such troubles with that first sail maker. I find your show to be very relaxing
Thank u for great content! I quit traditional entertainment in 2018. You guys bring fun, joyful, interesting and quite simply a moment to just smile. I can't thank you enough when the rest of the world seems to just dish up stress, anxiety, negativity and a focus on the worst of life. So glad to get to feel levity in a harsh world and travel along with yall!
On the east coast of the Coromandel is a place called Hot Water beach. Yes you dig a hole in the sand and can sit in hot water. There are mussel farms in the area you are which are great for fishing. If you come to Tauranga (which is where I am) there is a ship wreak (the Rena) which would be a great place to dive around. Enjoy the Coromandel I love it up there. I really enjoy seeing places thru your eyes.
I love the bit about "just enough struggle". Throughout my life, I have been most uncomfortable when I have been bored/under challenged. You live on a boat. I live in a motorhome and, like you, spend most of my time boondocking and out of campgrounds (marinas). I just love your videos and the parallel challenges... And fun.. we face on the daily :) Keep going with the flow y'all!
We bought an Acuva unit a few years ago using your discount code (thanks!) and love it! Excellent customer service too, when we had a little problem with it.
Exactly, you don't buy a sailboat for the motor, you buy it because you want to SAIL. Yes sailing can be troublesome at times, and that's why teamwork makes the dream work. Once you cooperate with Mother Nature, you learn to respect it, plus be more aware about time. Time is valuable and precious.
Hey guys, you where talking about the internet not working in a certain spot, Recently Project Brupeg (Damon and Jess) Installed Starlink on their 74 foot?? (you decide 😁) admittedly it hasn't launched yet but is getting very close. So far they have found it so fast compared to other options (they are in Queensland AU) have you considered going the Starlink route yourselves? It might be worth looking into. Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Sailing is being at anchor in a beautiful harbor, sailing in perfect seas with perfect wind, sailing is exciting when the wind and sea challenge you a bit. Sailing is also constant upkeep and repairs, standing watch in the middle of a cold night in choppy seas with ⚡️ and 🌧 , trying to sleep when you’re too cold or too hot, or the boat is tossing you around, it’s worrying if you’re going to make it to port because of some mechanical problem(s). Sailing is life. It has its good times and not so good times. Being on a boat gives you more of the good and not so good than sitting at home in front of your tv and wishing you were those people with the catamaran sailing around the world.
"We didn't buy a sailboat so that we can motor". And that ladies and gentlemen, is why this is my favorite Sailing channel. You know what and who I'm talking about.
Well my Sunday gets better an better.. guys that no interweb spot was beautiful... But so is the interweb spot cuz.... This video was fun to watch... Thanks for sharing your lives with us ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Now you know why New Zealand pumps out world class sailors! Love how you guys don't sugar coat a tough day when they happen. Chalk it up as a 'fun' day sailing!
Go to Rings Beach ion the Coromandel - it's in between Matarangi and Kuoutunu, theres nothing there except a glorious beach. I grew up there and it's STUNNING.
On our cat, and maybe yours too, the foresail sheet lead location induces a curve in the leech. To avoid this We leave rigged a barber haul with a cheek block on the midships cleat, then I attach the cheek block to the foresail sheet after we start sailing so we can infinitely adjust the sheeting angle. Creating a perfect airfoil shape to the foresail leech, with no leech curving back towards midships creates, at least on our cat, way more power and the cheek block is easy to remove when you’re done with that tack. 😊
I always think back on the time you came back to your boat for the first time during. the covid. and all the cleaning and repairs you had to do just to get to this point .
Your recap of the water generator and bengal cat reminds me of the reason why we got our bengal. Yours were so much cooler than the energetic, hyper, spastic cat that we received.....
Great video as usual. What you both have done to repair and replace over the last several months is inspiring, and you can hear Curiosity purring from here in Florida!! 👏👏👏⛵⛵⛵
I sailed these waters as a child and we used a lead line and fathom markers to decide where to anchor. There are a lot of nice beaches on the east coast but few anchorages. Whitianga is a lovely small town with a marina recommended. pronounced Fiteanga;
Pleased to see you made Coromandel, I started my schooling there and was there right through the war. There were still active gold mines there and the tap water was so full of minerals my father was requested to supply a second sample to be analysed. Well done, I now live in Brisbane, Aust. and have been following your adventures. The HaurKi Gulf certainly is a good cruising area and I have visited most of the islands in including Little Barrier island.
You guys definitely has the right balance in attitude. You tackle challenges which are rewarding and not impossible. I see the youth of today demoralised by adults with negative attitudes (which sadly includes their parents sometimes) and I wish I had the formula to open their eyes. Jordon Peterson tells the youth of today to pick a hard task and lift that burden. When you succeed you will like a master of the universe. The alternative to always feel helpless and defeated, down trodden and depressed. And the staggering thing about attitude is that it takes about a microsecond to change it from negative to positive, the person only has too will it to be so. Fair winds to you as they say.
Thanks for another great video. I'll back you up on the value and quality of Acuva water filters. We just spent four months in Mexico and drank whatever water was available - through the Acuva LED filter. Much better than acquiring and lugging big jugs of water.
OMG!!!! We are finally Wynns Patrons !!!!!!!!! It seems silly to be soo excited to "give" another couple $$, but we finally feel secure enough to be able to "give back." Your content has enriched our lives through entertainment (of course!), but also through inspiring us to follow our own dreams and passions. In spite of the headache, hassle, work, mind boggling, never-ending lists that come with full time travel.........we still get that "pinch me!" feeling that this cannot be our lives. You two have captured the spirit of the game wonderfully and are always my go to. We are proud to be contributing in a small way, and hope this is just the beginning. 🤞🏻 🚐🌎🐈⬛
This is so inspiring to read! Incredible, thank you for letting us be a part of your week, for the support and following your passions! May you never lose the “pinch me” feeling!!!
I just spent the morning scooping and spreading horse manure and then tine harrowing the poops out in the pasture. Not everyone's favorite sunday morning activity, but it was pleasant. So yeah. I get it. I am hoping to try a small sail boat class up at the local sailing club this summer....thanks to you guys!!
Hey guys, love your videos! You mentioned your watermaker is 120V....I thought you had an inverter. Is the amp demand too high on the watermaker for it? With all the solar and lithium, could be an option. If no inverter, could get a new Victron 3000W for $1400. Cheaper than a new watermaker....
Yeah, I wondered the same. We converted to a 240v watermaker because 12v ones always go wrong and when they do its always specialist parts, whereas the 240v pumps and wiring are easy to get off the shelf.
Imho, my $2k air-to-water machine was the best. 12 litres per day for 10 years (except 2 weeks at the driest/coldest in winter). Broke after 10 years when I cleaned it and bumped a pump switch.
Another great video, I agree with what you say. Life to easy is boring and causes stress and anxiety. I find that in my life a lot at home base and why I try to stay busy busy. Talk about stress, we drove to CA to buy a bigger RV last week, a really nice one and we bought it. Started the drive back home to Oregon just 3 hours into the drive by Lake Shasta the RV started on fire and burnt down to the ground. Had no cell service to call for help, talk about stress and the feeling of helplessness. Sometimes in life to see more clearly we all need some real life bad excitement in our adventures. Enjoy every minute out there and safe sailing.
Oh wow. How terrible! A rig fire is my worst nightmare. I hope you will recover from the loss and find a new rig soon. With any luck, your personal effects weren't loaded into the rig yet.

Great video. Shows the 'variety' of the Hauraki Gulf. I have been caught out on Oneroa with a northerly shift a few times - there are some alternative (and sheltered) anchorages just around the corner. Even though it is slightly further, another route would have been to head south around Waiheke and out through Ruthe Passage. Great to meet you recently.
Beautiful scenery. The sky and water almost perfectly blend. Breathtaking! Hope the weather clears up for you! Where were we before 4G? In the dark ages (again) I suppose!!
when are you planning to go across the Tasman to Aussie? The Great Barrier Reef awaits. It's going to get chilly in NZ soon. Used to live in Auckland but decided Aussie was a better fit so went to live in Melbourne (now in Boston MA feeling a bit....dizzy lol)
I'm so happy you are cruising NZ. And I hope you head further south. A house I owned some years ago appeared on you vlog. It was the clip of Oneroa. I now live South in the Bay of Plenty. Tauranga. Which has a large sheltered port. For miles around, including at sea you can see a Dormant volcano called Mt Maunganui. This marks the entrance to the natural harbour. Should you come south there are many safe anchorages. Just ask and I will give you my local knowledge. Fair winds.
To me it is the FEELING of sailing. Powered by wind. Slow feels fast. I have not sailed that much, I lived next to the bay in San Diego, so I took a few classes and rented multiple boats. My cousin invited me to sail with her pals in a regatta on ... Lake Erie ..., awesome.
I have followed your channel for a couple of years now. Love the content - more so now, my youth (in the 60’s/70’s) was spent “messing around in boats in and around Marsden Bay/One Tree point. Thank you for sharing your journey and rekindling memories of my wonderful childhood/youth. “Bon voyage” from the south coast of Western Australia.
about your internet problem in that cove -- have you thought about balloon antenna-- they are really a small helium balloon with a ant. attached with about 200 ft of cable or more light weight wire it boosts your wifi hundred x -- can't think of why it wouldn't boost your uplink connections also with the right ant. attached --- they use them in nordic countries and east coast of Canada where fiords are present -- they where invented during war 2 for spies to send up a ant to transmitt then take down in a hurry so they wouldn't be detected during the night with low watt transmitters -- maybe you should look in to these -- just an idea -- sure there is a reason -- with how smart you guys are that you haven't thought of that -- love this video as always it shows real boat life -- i like that - you guys are great best sailors videos on the net
Thank you for a great video . It makes life much better watching you as a couple working things out . I am looking forward to a great sailing season here in the New York area & the coast of Connecticut .
I remember camping in that bay with my father and brother (well I think it was that one) 60 years ago. There was just a dirt track back then but the fishing was wonderful and well worth the rough ride. A beautiful part of the world. Nice memories. Thank you
Your "Jessie from Toy story" accent is getting stronger by the day lol. Todays was the smoothest "intro into the promo" yet. Didn't see that coming until you declared it! I thought is was just a observation/recommendation rather than a revenue stream right up to that point.
I've sailed the coast of Alaska for over 25 years for months at a time during the summer. Sailing can be a love/hate relationship but I love it far more often than the times I hate it.. 🙂 Thanks for the video. Sail On!
Thanks for your entertaining content. Every time you show show yourselves coiling a line, you carefully lay each loop much line line on a spool at the chandlery. It looks very pretty. However, each such loop introduces a half twist into the line when you need to use that line. Coiling with either a figure 8 or dog ears (sometimes called donkey ears) will prevent your lines from twisting and jamming in blocks and fairleads, which always happens at the worst possible moment. A simple youtube search on "coiling line" provides many tutorials.
Getting my Jason and Nicki fix! 😉 I enjoy watching your adventures and misadventures of sort, always combined with a great love for life and gratitude. Sail safe, healthy and happy you two!! Love and blessings from the majestic Oregon coast!
A great sail day! Nothing to repair, nothing stop working or fallen off. Your only challenge was finding the Internet....piece of cake! Un abbraccio forte a due!

Thank you for the hours of entertaining and educational stuff that you share. During the pandemic, watching you has been both amazing and frustrating, as Husband wishes he was not "stuck in his house" and fantasizes about what it would be like for him to live on a sailboat.

Thanks for posting this. Good to see that it’s not always sunshine and blue water!
IDK how you guys have time to work on it, but the editing and storyline just get better and better! 👏👏😍😍🌊🌊
Great to see you guys sailing plus loved the rain reality check at the end 😀
Awesome 👏🏻
You two are delightful. 🌺
Hello from Florida warm winds and safe travels 🧳
when are you planning to go across the Tasman to Aussie?
Great video, beautiful as usual. I like the psychology snippet, a good idea to keep perspective.
I have followed your channel for a couple of years now. Love the content - more so now, my youth (in the 60’s/70’s) was spent “messing around in boats in and around Marsden Bay/One Tree point. Thank you for sharing your journey and rekindling memories of my wonderful childhood/youth. “Bon voyage” from the south coast of Western Australia.
about your internet problem in that cove -- have you thought about balloon antenna-- they are really a small helium balloon with a ant. attached with about 200 ft of cable or more light weight wire it boosts your wifi hundred x -- can't think of why it wouldn't boost your uplink connections also with the right ant. attached --- they use them in nordic countries and east coast of Canada where fiords are present -- they where invented during war 2 for spies to send up a ant to transmitt then take down in a hurry so they wouldn't be detected during the night with low watt transmitters -- maybe you should look in to these -- just an idea -- sure there is a reason -- with how smart you guys are that you haven't thought of that -- love this video as always it shows real boat life -- i like that - you guys are great best sailors videos on the net
good to see you guys sailing again.
Thank you
Wind power - nice! Thanks team.
This episode is my favorite. You guys do a great job of showing your reality. Thank you.
It’s so great to see you sailing
That was a great episode! Just the daily grind of sailing, and some philosophical reflection. Very enjoyable. Oh, and really nicely edited.
Your "Jessie from Toy story" accent is getting stronger by the day lol. Todays was the smoothest "intro into the promo" yet. Didn't see that coming until you declared it! I thought is was just a observation/recommendation rather than a revenue stream right up to that point.
You all are such a lovely couple.
So fun!! And laughs❣️ I love you guys❣️
Good sailing guys! 😃
Still a huge fan! Thanks guys. Be safe.
Awesome video guys.
Yes, you finally GET sailing Nicky and Jason! Small amount of motoring, more sailing, no matter the Wynn's. xx. Precious Kids on the water scene. Wtf!
Loved when Nikki said "didn't get a sailboat to motor " cheers
Getting my Jason and Nicki fix! 😉 I enjoy watching your adventures and misadventures of sort, always combined with a great love for life and gratitude. Sail safe, healthy and happy you two!! Love and blessings from the majestic Oregon coast!
A great sail day! Nothing to repair, nothing stop working or fallen off. Your only challenge was finding the Internet....piece of cake! Un abbraccio forte a due!
Everytime I see that little door closed, I just LAUGH!!! and the look on Singa's face....priceless!!
Singa's look is like "Hey, am I the only adult here?"
😹😹

Its looks like alot of Fun till the storms shows up. LOL..Thank You for taking us along. I know I will never sail but its great watching You Guys. Great Video Stay Safe...
Hiya, I'm in Auckland and got a boat of my own to explore the huriki gulf just a heads up most of the bays are all good ancoring bays and are pretty deep, so you can go right in and anchor to get outta the wind. But great vid
OH i know i know i know! my folks had a big as roof which collected all the rain water and possums in a big as tank. yum!!
Once again I have enjoyed this weeks video❤️. You make it look so simple to someone like me who has never been on a sail boat.
Hi guys! Just dropping by to say (As always) that we love your channel and always look forward to every episode! This one in particular had us giggling the whole way through. Being new to the live aboard" lifestyle, a lot of these thoughts and days we experience CONSTANTLY.
Oh my gosh!! You are going to the Coromandel! Be sure to go to the hot water beach!
Hi happy to watch him your show don't know nothing about sailing but you guys make it fun watching you my question is at the end you put some pads that said Garmin over those screen what is that for an why do it thk you have a good week
Just a heads up. When you make it to the water perifier site. They are offering a discount of 20% off. It might screw up your sales.
Great video! Waiheke Island looks like it was a wonderful place to visit- sorry the visit was so brief. Anyways, on to new adventures. Thanks for bringing us along. See the both of you next week. Be safe.
Thank you for the hours of entertaining and educational stuff that you share. During the pandemic, watching you has been both amazing and frustrating, as Husband wishes he was not "stuck in his house" and fantasizes about what it would be like for him to live on a sailboat.
Your efforts to please are not lost on us. Thank you for your struggles.
