2007 Silverado K1500 3.5” Rough Country Lift Kit Install and General Repairs (Ep.12)

  • In this extra-long episode we will be lifting our 2007 Silverado 1500, if only a little bit. We will be installing the 3.5” suspension lift portion (19431A) of a Rough Country lift kit that is 4.25” overall (257.20) since it also includes a 1.25” body lift (RC701). We may install the body lift in the future but for now we will just be going from a Rough Country 2” leveling kit (1307) to the 3.5” lift/leveling kit.
The goal was a little bit of extra ride height and tire clearance, without being too expensive or so tall that it would be annoying/difficult to actually use the bed of the truck. With 33” tires and aftermarket wheels there is a lot of rubbing and hopefully this lift kit will help address that.
This job was a marathon and we worked all through the night (~19 hours), and the voiceover/editing process was too (~55 hours) so it only made sense to make the video itself represent that by being the longest edited one on this channel to date.
Special shout-outs to some of the folks involved in making this video:

Dates of filming: March 23rd/24th, 2019 (Lift Kit Install)
April 6th, 2019 (Side Step Install)

This install and the video editing ended up being marathons, so it only made sense to make the video one as well! Originally intended to be a two-parter, but there wasn't an obvious cut point so I hope you like long, detailed episodes! The edit of this was so daunting it took 16 months to get around to it (whoops). I wouldn't expect a lot of videos this long, but do you still want to see this kind of detail from our content? Or would a somewhat more condensed version be more desirable? (ex. Describing what we had to do to remove bolts vs. just removing them)
Sorry that this is being posted late in the weekend but it took every last minute to put this one together. I don't know how long the 4K version will take to process so if you only see the 1080p option it's because I wanted it published ASAP and it should show up within a few hours.

I like your detail you include. And I like the quicker pace on the second side. I personally have always enjoyed videos around 40 minutes to an hour long for vehicle repair/installations.

nice video install a wrench with your custom front bumper, install a custom rear bumper, install a cargo LED bed light (it cost less than 30 dollars and it takes less than and than an hour to install a well) also do LED lights conversion for your taillights, blinker lights, and headlights, and bring back the led brake light, also install aux leds reverse lights, paint the chevy logo with black paint, install a custom black wheels, install a train horn on this truck, install LED lights for all of your gage lights such as check engine lights and mph lights, also do sound deadening in this truck, and install a touch screen audio system in this truck, also when are your pontiac's coming back, when is the 240z coming back, when is the blazer coming back, please reply

People buy snap on, blue point, etc just to say they have it. No point when harbor freight stuff works just as well if not better.

    • @adambryant2434
      @adambryant2434 3 роки тому +2

@@THEEVERYTHINGTHINGCHANNEL I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily true, there are certain tools I use from snap on I would never even consider from harbor freight for instance screw drivers, and pliers huge quality difference. As far as impact sockets and regular hand tools I mostly agree. Snap on makes very comfortable wrenches but the icon line of hand tools are almost identical for less than a quarter of the price. I also use a 3/4” snap on ratchet with a torque multiplier when I’m disassembling hydraulic cylinders, I would never trust putting that kind of torque on a harbor freight 3/4” ratchet. I’d say application really matters, I agree most snap on tools are ridiculously priced, but when you make a living with your tools you need some high quality tools. I also buy a lot of sunex tools, great tools for the money.

I don't think I've ever even made a comment on UA-cam before but I wanted to take a moment to commend everything about this channel. I know there are people like myself who seriously cannot get enough of your excellent content, whether it be a hour of lifting your truck or watching the entire S10 blazer series in a day or anything else. You seriously put all the required time and effort into every project and continue it into every video (editing, filming, etc) and it seriously shows. This is arguably the best channel on UA-cam in my opinion and even though videos like this are daunting for some and may not cash in on those sweet sweet views you are clearly doing great work and I, personally (as well as many others I'm sure), love to see it. Thank you for your channel and everything. Cheers

I know the feeling with those Suspension kits, I put a 2 inch lift under my 94 Explorer, it said about 5 hours for complete installation. Instead it took me about 12 hours.
I did get the same Brand as you Rough Country, and I can say the exact same thing happened to me, and I just didn't trust the bolts, so I also replaced those. The only ones I kept was the U-bolts because I needed them for the lift.
Also I believe they only do the time tests in 100% conditions where nothing is rusted and everything goes smoothly. Which I know is normal for Commission times and all, if you're getting it done professionally.

I did the 2.5" Rough Country kit on my 1980 Scout, but lucky for me it has a solid axle in the front with leaf springs so I just had to swap out all 4 leaf springs and shocks. The whole job took about 5 hours to do solo but was much easier than what you had to go through. I do think you should consider extending your bump stops to avoid blowing out your shocks.

I plan to do a similar small lift on my 1990 k2500. I dont want to do a lot of fender trimming to clear an old set of 33x14-16 boggers. I had to drop my diff about 18 months ago to pull the oil pan. My driver's side header collector curls under the front driveshaft so I won't have clearance for a big diff drop bracket. I think a 3-4" lift would be about right for me. I want it to look close to stock and still be useful when loading and unloading stuff in the bed. Everyone has tried to load firewood into the bed of a truck with a tailgate that is shoulder high. Ugh. I enjoy your videos and the level of detail that you go through. I make videos but mine aren't nearly as good. I film... and if I don't get it on the first take, I dont get the shot. Lol. I also don't do voice-over work on my videos. Most times that I need any introduction, I film myself talking and rambling. Voice-over would help me be more direct and to the point.. I did sit through the entire hour long video.
The engine in my pickup is mostly finished. I'd like to try a diy interchiller to cool an air-to-water intercooler on the centrifugal supercharger of my 350. The transmission just got upgraded to a 4L80E from an old 3 speed turbo 400. Now I'm looking at the suspension. She's a daily driver.
Keep up the videos. I have a couple 3rd gen Camaros and can apply everything you do to at least one of the vehicles in my fleet.

Unfortunately I don't have a cat or dog, but I was entertained during last hour. I was doing my own office work at the same time and this was great background! (I mean I may have stopped my work every other minute or so to look what was happening but anyway) :D

i may be in the minority but i prefer these long form type videos. i usually leave them on and listen while playing games. so know that i watched through all the way. nice combine sticker btw.

Another interesting video. Thanks for sharing. I don’t have a dog so it was just me at the end:)
