The thing I love about V bracing is the thickness of the high strings up the neck. Nothing loses volume, tone, or sustain. If you gig, you know how balance is more important than low end.
Wow! Somebody admits that Taylor’s previous bracing ‘X’ had issues. Is ‘V’ bracing just Taylor’s attempt to fix those issues without having to admit there were issues? And make a Marketing Bonanza out of it.
I love the clear and articulate tone of this guitar! It is tone like this that keeps me playing on an on with enthusiasm. I identify with your comment in the video about having several guitars to play the one with the tone de jour to fit your mood.
Great review -insightful and entertaining! Some reviewers on UA-cam don't do the guitar any favors with their choice of microphones, or maybe it's the placement. This mic sounds great -thanks for naming it. I recently played a 314 V Class with no cutaway or electronics. It was a bit more bassy than the cutaway version, perfect for a folk player like me.
Hi Jarvis. Love your videos, you make a great job. I have a question... I will buy a new guitar and i like two models. - The Larrivee C-09 and the Lakewood M32 CP Wich one is the best quality of wood and construction ? And i love warm and melodius sounds for struming and picking. Who is the best for it ? Thx in advance, have a great day :)
Larrivee gives exceptional value and great wood .. but it takes time to open up .. Lakewood is build tougher and I personally find the neck profile a bit difficult to play
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Was it as the same size as the original or you made it lower. I am asking this because I have a taylor 314ce v-class and action was a bit high. Then, I decided to lower it down a bit. I kept the original one and bought a new for the test. I did some measurements, filed it using a sandpaper and it worked great. Action is fine and it did not affected intonation. Taylor techs say that saddle should never be filed, and adjustments can be done in the Taylor neck. What is your view about it?
Do V class Taylor's really have any better intonation or sustain than non v class Taylor's or high end Takemine, Martin, or Yamaha? Has anyone done any real tests to back up their intonation And sustain claims?
I prefer without v bracing.. Don't know why.. When i try at guitar store taylor 314ce v class sound muddy..missing something I have taylor 214ce koa.. More brighter.. Crunchy,punchy..just my personal opinion..
I have the 614ce version right before they changed to V -class bracing. Is that the version that you say can have deformed backs due to very light bracing? And if so, how can I prevent that from happening? By playing it not too loud?
Well there’s nothing much you can you .. if the wood is quartersawn then it’s ok if it’s slab sawn then there maybe issues .. just Ensure it’s dried at 50% Relative humidity
@The Guitar Spa Singapore thanks for your response. I’m guessing the maple wood is slab sawn judging from how the beautiful grain looks very similar to a fine violin 🎻. It looks great and sounds great. I don’t take it on any trips so it’s not exposed to anything except the humidity in my apartment, where I often keep the windows open, so it is exposed to the normal changes in humidity. I normally keep it out of its case and hanging on a wall to admire the beautiful maple grain but now I think I should keep it in its case whenever possible and hang a different guitar.
I just cant get into the taylor sound. I really want to because I think the guitars look great and they feel great. The sound of any taylor is just missing something to me. Great content and keep up the great work. I really enjoy your videos.
If you haven't tried the older X-braced Taylors you should try some if you get a chance. I generally prefer the sound of Martins over Taylors, but I have a 2015 Taylor 314 that sounds a lot better than the one he's playing as well all the other V Class 314s I've played. My 314 is a very versatile guitar and can cover a lot of genres, and it actually has decent bass. I think Taylor neutered their guitars when they went to V Class...can't stand the sound now.
I completely agree! I'm sure that Taylors are great guitars, but can't stand their lack of soul and personality. Very comfy to play....but I could never buy one of these. Jarvis you're the best though! And you can bring any guutar back to life with your privileged hands!
To me it’s the same .. and they just amplify that as a marketing hype which is how Taylor does it in all their marketing stunts over the last 20 years which I. Have been following h

Can you tell me if i must take a Larrivee LV-10 or a Furch Red Gc-SR SPA Master's Choice ?And why ? thx for your answer Jarvis.
What mic do you used to record?
Nice sound, i like Taylor.
Thk Bro.👍
Dude love your reviews! You gotta put a chord chart up for that song you always play at the beginning. That shit is catchy!

There’s stuff out there on UA-cam. I find there’s more consistent projection across the entire neck which I like.
I’ve noticed that the Taylor guitars are always a bit brighter in tone than most guitars. Is the at due to a thinner top tone-wood or…?
due to the way they are braced ..

I'd be curious to hear Andy Powers thoughts on the FMI saddle.
probably he won't say much ...cox...he has other cat to skin which is bigger
Make comparisons between Taylor 314 and 314v class.

It's the intonation that makes the V brace
does the v class have better intonation than x bracing like they advertised?

thanks, i thought playing higher chords on the fretboard would be bad on x bfacingt
I have a new 314 ce. And I will tell it sounds just beautiful and plays fantastic with a great feel. I love. Nothing sounds like a Taylor. Nothing.
I can’t disagree with you
Great guitar but lacks a bit of bass for me
Finally Taylor sounds all six strings now
What price taylor 314 v bracing it.....in dolar.singapore........mr....🤔
It’s in the link on this video from swee Lee
Good

V bracing makes the Taylor sound like any other guitar. It's lost it's identity. May as well buy an Eastman Ac322ce for half the price.
