Great technique, make sure you pinch your elbow on the on the arm you're regripping. This can also prevent the attacker from getting deep in the first place( right before re-grip). Extremely important detail that is always overlooked.
Solenia well this move actually works you have to play with it I don’t do it exactly like this video but basically if you catch the choking arm your opponent is going to be off balance then you can you roll towards the trapped arm then hope your opponent is not a black belt lol
I had a guy, when using this same defense and sweep, sit back on my arm that’s underhooking the hamstring, and place his free arm under my elbow and pull up for an arm bar. Just something to be cognizant of. Most people can’t stop the sweep and only one person has ever down it to me.
Hey Chewy ! love your videos. awesome content. could you maybe upload a video of you and Chad rolling please ? I'd love to see some of your chilled, fun gym rolls with each other. maybe even commentated rolls is an idea. like you rolling with Chad and then commentating on it later. gracie breakdown did this a couple times on their channel and I always enjoyed the roll and also the commentary. would love to see you guys try it. or even videos of you guys rolling with your lower belt students. thanks again Mate for the awesome videos ! keep it up.
Sure Joey. I can do something like that. Chad's healing up from a knee injury. But whenever he's up to it I will record a middle of the road pace roll between us so you can watch. Thanks for the message.
I do something very similar but requires 10x less effort. When in half guard; i use my 'top' leg to drag the leg closest to my hips. Holding the foot like im triangling off the foot in my groin. Then at the same time, even if the darce choke is locked in, i am doing the same hand control to prevent the choke from fully happening. Then i simply roll over onto the opposite side in on, whilst still holding the foot in the 'foot guard'(Iunno had to name it something). It requires almost no effort, it works on every type of sized person. If this technique fails it allows you to go posture to dogfight.
your my new hero bro. can you make a video helping us taller guys out I'm 6'4 and not to flexible. I'm still trying to find my game. I've found that butterfly guard works OK for me usually I like going for an arm drag and getting underneath and going str8 for an ashi garami but only work less than half the time I want to find a good reliable game I can play on shorter ppl any help
I find my self in quarter guard a lot I'll play some lock down stuff and I'm always looking for a kimora for some reason there just easy for me. I try so use as little strength as possible most of my mat time is with my wife. We both know plenty of moves I just feel like she's found her game before I found mine. She's quite fond of triangle to armbar Transitions. But I would love to see what other people my size are doing and try new things
I looked thru all your videos and could not find anything. I got caught in a tight guillotine from side control/mount and had nothing in my reservoir to escape. Lol, maybe there is no way to counter but I wish I had something in that moment. Hopefully this question makes sense.
Cool bottom half defense against a naked darce attempt from the top. Was wondering what details are different when bottom half has an underhook? Lately my partners have been lighting me up with darce/brabo/arm-in guillotine threats *after* I get my bottom half underhook. Half the time I end up surrendering the underhook just to deal with the sub attempt and wind up at square one, sometimes worse (flattened and/or crossfaced). Pls halp T_T
Yeah good stuff when he pulls that there bud why don't you just drag him take his back? And if he backs off that way you got your escape anyway. And you can still turn that into this sweep also :)
Hey Chewy, I wonder instead of going for the sweep is it possible to take the person's back from gripping the "whizzer" wrist. For example at 2:45 while you are grabbing his wrist, can you also then take your other hand and grab his elbow/tricep ( on the same arm that you have his wrist) and do an arm drag to take his back? thanks

Excellent comment.
When channel videos ser
I get darce'd all the time trying to work on my deep half sweep. I'm really looking forward to trying this out tomorrow!
i cant wait to try this i keep getting tapped with the same position !
bro i keep getting darced by the long armed guys...watching this for the first time and will be trying it tonight...how has it worked for you???
Mohammed Rawoot They say he died trying to defend the darce.

Same I started hitting sweeps from bottom half and then they started countering by hitting me with darces. So this is great
I really appreciate and enjoy these videos. Thanks for all of the great info!
Glad they're helpful!

Thanks Chewie and Chad!
This is like a combination of a John Wayne and Roger Gracie half guard sweep. I like it
Break the wrist...sweep away. love it.
Thanks for the advice
You're welcome brother.

I’m interested, but can’t picture this. (I’m a higher belt trying to troubleshoot)
Beautiful
Interesting, I'll have a play with that. Thank you

Dan what Guard positions do you use?
I have a student who is 6'4 and not flexible. I could share the stuff he uses.

Awesome defence can even bait them into it

Were you on top or bottom?
I was on top.

I keep getting stuck in top half guard and every time I get free the, they trap me again any advice ?
Try not to leave one leg behind when advancing forward or to another position.
Do you have any top half guard passes you're going for?
perfect
gooood one!
Thanks chewy now 31k people gonna know how to sweep me when I go for my best move😅😡🤬
For once instead of being asked Elliott asks a question lol
That is called the "saamelainen" or in english, "the sami sweep".
Never heard that.
Lol for first time i see 0 dislike congrats!!
2:15
3:25
im gonna use this shit haha
Yeah good stuff when he pulls that there bud why don't you just drag him take his back? And if he backs off that way you got your escape anyway. And you can still turn that into this sweep also :)
So basically you have to get this before they pass ya guard .,if they pass ya guard it will be harder to sweep 🧹
