    I started following these vids a few months ago and the consistent shots advice has has really helped , nearly made 80 , two nights ago only thing that stopped me getting more was my eyesight at 62 years old is not good 😂😢

    Great advice I do this now and it works for me, up until about a year ago I would hit the ball hard on most shots making 16-30 breaks. Once I slowed my action down now I consistently make 40-60 breaks.
    It took me a lot of time to slow my action but what helped me slow it down was literally playing in slow motion in practice 😂

    Hi Michael, just came to say, thank you so much for this video!
    I re worked my cue action this year and the last and final part of the puzzle which I was struggling with was consistently timing the shot. Your point about feeling the cue ball as you hit it and the pace of the cue translating to the speed of the cue ball really helped! I'm finally getting consistent with the timing!
    Love the videos, great job and thank you!

    Great advice Michael Holt. Another simple idea that will help players to clear their minds and strike the cue ball better. Too many players are thinking about technique when they should be thinking about playing the game. 😊

      Although his upper body is exactly the same for every stance. Whereas I feel like a new player is not going to be able to hold their upper body in such a consistent position while moving their lower body around like that. I feel like a good player knows subconsciously the things that can change and that must stay the same, and even when they try to cue badly or hold their body in a bad way, their instincts simply won't allow them to change things that are essential. I saw a video from 'Break from life' where he was like 'even when I try to cue it as badly as I can, I only miss the pocket by like a cm' Well he should get a lesson on bad cueing from me, because I can have the object ball shooting off by like 3 feet just by bending my wrist in a particular direction.

    can you please tell me do you look at pocket during featuring or in the final backswing or before delivery ? or the pocket should be in the background or prepheral vision at all the time?
    i used to look at the cueball as when i was about to hit the cueball but a coach told me years ago to look at object ball , since then i have been having this problem that during features i go like , cueball, objectball, pocket and then cueball , then i look at the objectball as about to hit but i think i move my eyes to pocket while the tip is about to hit the cueball, and i miss alot of shots, should i go back to my old aiming method and look at the cueball when i about to hit the cueball or looking at pocket is normal ?
    tnx alot for your nice videos

    • @meeemalef5849
      @meeemalef5849 Рік тому +1

      as I pull the cue back I look at the object ball , in the backpause my eyes are already on object ball, as I deliver the cue my eyes are still on object ball, but as the cue tip is about to hit the cueball my eyes flicks from object ball to the pocket.
      I look at pocket while featuring, example during features: cueball+objectball+pocket
      I know I said when I first started playing snooker I was looking at cue ball on impact. But my problem is that my eyes flicks from object ball to pocket as the cue tip is about to hit the cueball.

    Love your vids. No bullshit, all down to earth. One ask though, it's easy to say don't pay attention to the technique when you have such good technique. But don't forget most of us amateurs do not have a good, repeatable technique and many of the times we are struggling to deliver the queue consistently straight. So although you are against it, I would like to ask you to give a few tips on how you developed your technique and what are your guidelines. Thank you!!

    • @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching
      @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching  Рік тому

      Hello. Thank you.
      I’m not against working on finding a technique you can repeat. My point is it doesn’t matter what it is as long as it repeats. Most channels on here are telling people to do this and that which is wrong. For every bit of advice on here there will be a professional that doesn’t do it. Also, this advice that’s being given isn’t working for the people preaching it because very few of them play to even decent amateur level! It’s a trap, don’t fall for it. 👍

    i enjoy your no nonsense explanations, i also noticed especially on the last slow motion shot on the Yeloow. your bridge arm moves before the hit, maybe this is where I'm going wrong trying to keep every part of my body still. i end up stiff and can't hit the balls as fluent

    • @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching
      @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching  Рік тому

      It’s just something I do at times, I don’t do it consciously. It doesn’t influence my shot as my body stays still so I don’t worry about it.
      It’s very unlikely you miss because of a stiff arm. Obviously impossible for me to suggest anything without seeing you.

    Michael. Definitely another great video and sound advice. Some advice from my side to get you more likes. 👍 Please stop cracking down on other coaches. They all are doing a great job and are also just trying to make a living whilst helping others enjoying the game they love so much. Rather refer to “the textbooks”. A bit more positivity and you might not lose me (and others) as subscribers.

    • @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching
      @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching  6 місяців тому +2

      Thank you.
      The thing is…a lot of them aren’t doing a great job. They’re not helping at all.
      I have nothing against any of them personally but the truth is a lot of what people are being told is pointless. I’ve coached lots of people now who have had coaching previously and not only are they telling people to do things that are wrong or even bizarre, they are missing basic fundamentals.
      The snooker coaching world IMO is a bit of a mess.
      I believe that this information is being given in good faith but like I said it’s not helping. This game is hard enough but it’s harder when you’re focused on things that aren’t the reason people are missing.
      My channel is there to move people away from this stuff so they can enjoy the game. 👍

    Thank you very much. I have question for using wrist... Do you use wrist all the time hitting the white ball?

    • @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching
      @MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching  Рік тому +1

      I just hit the white. Although it looks like I am flicking my wrist slightly, I’m not trying to “use” the wrist. It’s just the way my I’ve always played. Some people cue like it, some don’t. There’s many examples of great players who do cue like that.
      It doesn’t matter how you cue if you can repeat it. Re focus on repeating however you feel comfortable and playing the game. I promise it’s the best way to improve. 👍

      @@MichaelHoltSnookerCoaching I think he means as you get down on the shot, you don't line the cue down the line of aim before you get down... but your bridge hand is left of the cue ball as you get down and you swing it across like a lot of us do. I think it is just allied to placing your left foot as you step in.

    Hello Michael,
    You are talking about one of the most important topics of all, which most people (even professionals) do not understand. If it were otherwise, many professionals would have a dream shot, but this is not the case, because only a handful of over 120 professionals have a dream shot!
    Just compare the kicking technique of Jackson Page and Hossein Vafaei. Jackson plays really easy and doesn't use any force at all, moves his cue ball very easily and also hits the cue ball very well. Hossein, on the other hand, plays very tense in terms of technique, of course he plays very clean and so on, but he doesn't play anywhere near as relaxed, soft and with ease as Jackson, who can move the cue ball a long way even on a screw Ball and doesn't use any force.
    So what is the problem?
    Ball-feeling and the grip!
    And only in this combination!
    It's like having talent for a sport but using the wrong technique, you won't get far with that, just like you won't get far if you have correct technique but no talent.
    You can't learn to feel the ball, you have it or you don't have it!
    That's why many professionals have good technique but different levels of innate and developed feel for the ball.
    Consequently, the result has to do with biology, because it is always a coincidence with exactly which abilities one is born, if it were different and one could actually learn everything, then one-eyed world champions would also have become world champions.
