Perfectly adequate room. Basic but clean and tidy. What a bargain.
That was a really good deal actually, it looked ok. The check in warning was scary but at least you know the staff care enough to let you know. Shame things have been ruined by people trashing the place in the past leading to so many warnings, but it still was really good for the price.

We actually stayed at the Hotel Iris a few years ago for a cheap week away and it was great. The owners were very nice people and actually upgraded us to a little apartment with a balcony for no extra cash.
We would definitely stay again, but the lady's warnings were right, as two guys attempted to rob us in the lane outside when we came back from a night out. Luckily forewarned is forearmed and they got nothing. Nice little holiday though if the money's a bit tight.
Clean, comfortable, functional for £33 a night! What's not to like? For a short stopover, in budget, with no frills, this would suit me too! And sometimes these smaller hotels offer a lot more in information, help and friendliness.Thanks for checking these places out, Tim - very useful!

Never thought of visiting Benidorm but your videos make it look a lot nicer than I thought it to be.
It is very nice. I went for the first time last year and I recommend it to people.

It's almost like 2 different towns in one. The new town and old town are polls apart. The Old Town is still very traditional, whilst also having everything you need.
I went with friends last year and was quite shocked. It’s not somewhere I would have booked but I had an amazing time. Yes there is some tacky parts (like most places)
But the old town was gorgeous. Lovely French wine and tapas and the beach is lovely.
@@WalkWithMeTim that’s very true. Never seen the shows like Benidorm but bits and just assumed it was all drunk brits, sunburnt eating full English and fish and chips! When I holiday I like to experience the culture and sights of the area not feel like I’m in a spoons beers garden. Maybe I’ll visit for a long weekend one day.
Nothing wrong with that for 33 quid. Good sized room, air con, large bed, clean sheets and towels, soap, tv, shower, desk. The bar looked quite nice too.

Honestly would be happy to stay there - it's clean - the owners / managers care about you, there's a small bar area. I used to hostel a lot and have done up until a couple of years ago - this is better than a hostel and probably the same sort of price. Love the content Tim!
I usta Hostel too and was forced to in 2019 Prague the cheapest hotel was $200,the 6 bed room,$25 with a fine all you can eat breakfast.
The 4 Dutch girls left very quietly in the morning-hostelers are usually young and fun.
Wow that looked great value for money, I actually liked the cosy little bar area, what a bargain not everyone especially now can afford to have a holiday and im sure thats given some folk a good holiday option Tim.. thank you for that! I love the way you cover all kinds of options not just high end stuff, which again is interesting to see. Keep doing what you do because this is one of my favourite channels ATM as im caring for my elderly Mum and cannot go away but love watching you on your trips! Thanks Tim xx
I don't think it's in a bad area. It's a nice quiet side Street, but the main shopping streets are at the bottom of that street, tapas alley is a 5 minute walk from there. For me the location is perfect.
Thats pretty decent, and especially for the price, it was very good. It looked clean and although minimal it had all you need. In my early 20’s I paid way more for a hotel in Spain (I realise its a different place) that was an absolute state, but it was my first holiday alone with friends so I didn’t think to complain. This place you found would of been perfect if you just want somewhere to sleep, but intend to be out all day and evening(what I was thinking the place in Spain would be, but it ended up being not even up to standard to sleep) so I think you scored well on this place. Love the lady and her honesty, seemed very nice by looking out for you👍🏻
Well, that was indeed a surprise! Good of the lady to give the warning about thefts and safety, although it could be somewhat off putting. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for, but here it would seem (albeit pretty basic) you actually get a little more than what you pay for. Goes to show that if you shop around, you can sometimes find a bargain.
OMG! When you said you were in Room 101, the room where you face your greatest fear, I imagined that all kinds of horrors lay within, but actually no, for the money that really was a pretty decent room. You can't argue for that price, thanks Tim 👍
Hi Tim thanks for another excellent video. That Hotel Iris does not look that bad. The room had its own bathroom, a big wardrobe and very spacious and the bed did not look that bad either. The lady was lovely looking out for you and warning about crime.
You have come a long way Tim - and I don't mean from Norfolk to Benidorm! really great to see you pushing on for 200k subs now, be great to see you visiting countries that people don't usually think of going on holiday to...
What brilliant value and it puts some of our budget hotels to shame. As long as it's clean and the bed is comfortable, what more do you need for a bargain break.

My house had terrazzo tiles when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s…I mean they’re still there, under the carpet 😁
Room 101 thought that might be a bit of an omen. Pleasantly surprised it was a steal for the price. The robbery safety briefing might have scared me a bit but good of them to look out for guests
Love watching your vids (subscribed some time ago) I find them very relaxing. They have also made me want to travel again. I live in the states and will soon be heading to San Antonio Texas to stay in an art deco skyscraper from 1929. Stayed there before. There are 2 buildings old (1929) and new. The old is the tallest. Guests can go to the roof of both buildings as well as balconies in many different areas for some incredible pics. Also breakfast and dinner are free in the lobby. So excited to be traveling again. First trip since 2018!

The one and only time I ever ran into bedbugs was in Benidorm. It was a very crowded summer week and no rooms available anywhere. We drove from Valencia and met a guy who moved his 80 year old mother out of her flat for 2 nights so we'd have a place to stay and he could make a few bucks. Man, we were bitten up and couldn't wait to get out of there.

Good to see what the Benidorm can offer on a budget, great, to the point review as I'd expect.
Room 101 reminded me of that tv show that used to be on with Paul Merton just make me have a little giggle. Not a bad little room though cleaner than most you would expect for that price. Thanks Tim as always :)

I used to visit Spanish friends in Barcelona and stay in a really cheap pension in the Gothic quarter. Dark, woody, very cheap. The owners warned me of robbers in the area and to be careful. There was actually a street called 'robbers street' (in Catalan of course). Great fun, loved it.
Loved this used go benidorm b4 covid that is an excellent price 👏
I was in a shop Cordoba a couple of months ago, and there was a sign on the counter warning about theft, detailing the tricks of the muggers.

That's all you really need as you said just for a place to get your head down if you're not planning on spending loads of time in the hotel

i went 5 years ago on a stag doo and we was in a 17 story high hotel in the old town it was £12 a night self catering 10 of us for 3 nights

I know men who were robbed at knifepoint in Benidorm, They didnt take safety precautions . They were out alone in the early hours and had been drinking so an easy target, This could happen anywhere though
ps when you checked in ,i thought it was good she told you all ect and this showed she cared about hotel guests saftey.nice lady.😊

Really good value. Most people just need somewhere to sleep for their holiday + air conditioning.. I’ve heard stories from other Benidorm people about being robbed but that’s in the early hrs plus being drunk doesn’t help!!!

I stayed there in 2016 ish lovely brother and sister if I remember that run the place and she was very very strict on policy, paid 20 something a night. Cheap cheerful nice people. A lad tried to bring a girl back she clocked what was going on kicked her out gave him a massive bollocking !!

The Iris represents astonishing value for money especially when you consider the ludicrously low price and how clean the room was. Would I stay there? Yes, absolutely especially as When we holiday, we are out and about all day and only use the room for sleeping. How far is it from the beach Tim?

Yes Tim dose the job ! Before the EU expense and Euro i stayed in lots of room onlys but like i said in last flog i just do all inclusive now around £30-40 a night !out of season well late year but good sun ? Love it ! Little john from chichester
Nice of that lady to look out for you. I lived in Benidorm for just over a year, never had any trouble on nights out, however I did hear some horror stories. Always have your whits about you in any city.

I’ve stayed there several times and it’s run by a lovely couple I think they are brother and sister but haven’t returned since covid
Seems fine to me. Characterful little street.
The only place I’ve ever been warned of crime was a caravan park near Edinburgh, apparently the locals come through and nick bikes or anything valuable that has been left outside.
that was a surprise! it's very surprisingly clean and tidy for that price, especially if all your doing is sleeping there that's well worth it!
avoid half-term breaks, Easter, Summer & Xmas, and everywhere is cheap!

Similar to the plug sockets, I have noticed some premier inns have all the light switches one side and only a some switches on the other.
My thinking is that they like to put more on the side nearer the door to the room? And less on the side further away.
Count the light switches when you're in a premier inn next each side you'll notice they are not the same number or functions etc!

It's better than expected
hotel iris is a decent cheap hotel not a dive when i stayed there in 2014. I remember a stayed in a hotel in Dakar, Senegal once and when I checked in the receptionist spent 10 minutes warning me about the local area being full of prossies and drug dealers and slagged off the hotel as well it was a 4 star Ramada as well!

Interesting. A basic room at a good price. There are countless similar ones where I live in Thailand which go for about 25 quid. I really don't like the window security 'gate', and shower curtains are my pet hate. So much so that when I built an extension on my house I included a walk-in shower area big enough to hold a double bed. But yes, a good hotel to base yourself in. After all, how long do you spend in it, except to sleep.
Looked like a 100 rooms l've stayed in cycling around Spain....clean & good value. I've never once (considering the cost) had an issue in Spain. But in the UK l've paid £150+ working around when l'd rather have slept in a skip.....full of broken televisions & fish heads.
She was very nice to warn you. Looks fine, just what are your neighbours going to be like for that price. AC cold air right above bed area may get very cold after a while falling on you. Always get right down to the mattress for inspection of anything unwanted. So was it a good quite night's sleep?
