Seems like big houses is one. The list is long and would love for others to share. Making parenting look easy…I don’t even have kids and I don’t believe that. Making a productive day appear like no glitches occur. I agree with hair. Everyday make up that looks like you are going to a special event.
You and Christopher have a home that you own that’s a big thing many people don’t have so, even those people who live unrealistic TikTok lives probably aren’t owning their homes
THANK YOU 🙏 🙏. I try to buy so much of what I see, when I don’t have the money or the space! I’m trying to stop so I don’t watch a lot of my favourite channels anymore - I can’t keep up - but I don’t need to! So far in 2025 I have been very good at not shopping - in stores and online. This video was well needed! ❤🇨🇦
You have no idea how much I loved this video! Truly just a breath of fresh air to see some reality on social media and know that most of us don’t have perfect, luxurious lives! Please make this a series!!!❤
Thank you for sharing that your house isn’t always perfect. My house feel like is constantly a mess and I see all these people on UA-cam and I’m like how do you keep it clean with kids. We have been on a continuous minimalism journey so it is getting better and easier but still can be messy.
This is a masterpiece- it’s not easy to keep a clean home - and not possible to match 99% of what is on social media. But if you aren’t buying the loads of junk influencers are pushing - you can achieve just about anything with a clean home. You won’t have clutter- you won’t have unnecessary debt and you will look pretty and feel good. ❤. The restock and makeup videos should never influence anyone. What we should be influenced to do - is wake up, take care of personal hygiene (appropriate for our planned day) tidy our homes- and get on with whatever we have to do. And take time to enjoy and care for what we have- which will free up our cluttered brains. ❤❤. Your home with the mugs in the sink and the baby proof coffee table is absolutely lovely.
Thanks for the reality check. With my current health issues, I'm not able to get to everything I was able to do physically - thankful for a hubby that is willing to help & pick up the slack.
I get so frustarated with jeans trends. We all wore skinny jeans for a decade (!) and then it’s new style every 6 months. I hate when content creators publish „don’t wear that, it’s out” videos, when just 8 months before this style was all the was all the rage
Ashlynn, you were the first UA-camr who began influencing my choices on how much I have and how much I need. Dawn and others came along afterward, but it started with you. I’ll always be grateful!
Thanks Ashlynne for the real ness! I suppose in general it’s the feeling of people having their lives together when in reality stuff can be a hot mess. I see people with their own homes, fulfilling careers, happy families etc, and it makes me feel like I’m failing somehow, so I put pressure on myself to be fitter, more put together, more organised, more productive, and it’s just not sustainable. Things aren’t easy at the moment and some days it’s just a relief to get through the day, so at the moment I’m just doing what I can. Here’s to living a realistic, genuine imperfect existence.
Definitely a good reminder. Thankfully, I'm choosy who i follow and try to really pay attention to the content I'm consuming and how it makes me feel and what im getting from it. If something I'm watching or following isn't serving me, I unfollow for my own mental health.
Yes, thank you!! I loved this video! The haul videos and 2 hour + morning routines are some of the worst. I'll watch someone declutter their overflowing closet / closets, dressers, etc and then in the next video they're showing a clothing haul. WTF?!?! lol And who really has time for a 2 hour morning routine? I work from home, don't have to be up and working at a certain time and I don't even have time for that. There are definitely a few other things that bother me about what "influencers" are trying to pawn off as "normal" but I like to stay positive and ranting feels negative. I say wear what you want to wear, decorate how you want to decorate and do the hobbies that you enjoy. Live for yourself, not what's "on trend". Anyway, thank you for your honesty Ashlynne!! Have a great weekend! 💕✨
Thank you for this video on par with your usually inspiring and realistic content! For instance, I love that you keep in clips you've recorded even when Oliver is chatting in the background, it feels like something most content creators might edit out. Social media totally feels like such a prison and my experience on it gets worse as I get older, I'm just over it. The things I see on there barely make sense to me anymore. So grateful for every creator that I do follow who make beautiful and/or useful content and make community the focus of their work! (Also... what do you mean Oliver is crawling and sitting by himself?? Wasn't he born yesterday?!?)
To be honest I just don’t understand why people get influenced by influencers. I’ve always lived my life as I wanted and not being influenced by anyone. I do pick up an idea sometimes, like f.e. some trays in my fridge or some baskets to put stuff in, but that is only because I can’t oversee what is in the bottom of the fridge or just because I love certain kinds of baskets and not because someone else likes it. Only the bottom of my fridge has 2 trays that I can pull out to get to the food and the rest of the fridge is just loaded because I can oversee these shelves. I always had some cheap plastic containers with stuff in my cupboard and I just love those white rope baskets, so when I found them rather cheap I changed some of the containers by baskets. I still see those kind of baskets when I go shopping but I don’t need anymore so I don’t get them. And already from a young age I never cared about fashion or clothes, I just wear what I like until it’s completely worn down before I replace it with something new that I really like. And I wear the same things over and over again. I just don’t like to live in a showroom nor do I like to wear lots of makeup or different clothes.
I loved this video. I don’t post comments often, but this one truly deserves it. You made us see you and your life in such a different and realistic way-as if you're just as human as we are. You put your heart into it, and I bet all of us could see that ❤
I have been following your content from past few years, this video by far has been my favorite. This is amazing, introducing me to minimalism and hygge life was one thing. This de-influencing is what I needed right now. I have been losing hair off lately due to some hormonal imbalance and vitamin deficiencies. But the moment you said “you are beautiful the way you are” I had tears in my eyes. Thank you!
Thank you. One of the things I noticed is people always decorating for each holiday buying new stuff. Live in big huge houses. Very expensive things . Homes always looking clean but, they clams they are dirty.
All the homemade all organic food, freshly made bread/baked snacks, i enjoy baking but it doesnt need to be everything or a second job.. loved seeing you with the nerd clusters.. all the entirely nontoxic everything in the house.. we try our best, i love having as clean as possible things.. but I will not be getting rid of my microwave
Thank you for keeping it real, I think we all need this now more than ever. I have super thin hair after having had cancer. I’m just tired of seeing all the unrealistic overconsumption.
Social Media can be a bully / guilt trip. If you don't have these things in life then you are not good enough. I stick to the very basics and am Blessed and Content with my life. I enjoy what really matters in my life.
I have been watching your videos for years and it feels good to see you in "normal life", good to see that your house is not always as tidy as it seems in your normal videos 😂 Hope you can keep that way, it is much better xx
1:33 yes also sometimes people forget that some of those girls get PAID to do that and we all know you set up the camera before lol. Who really sleeps like that and wakes up perfectly lol 😂
Thank you, these are needed reminders, and I really appreciated your take on things in this video. As much as I enjoy watching UA-cam videos of people’s aesthetically pleasing homes and lives, I’m reminded that it’s not the reality. And what matters is the people in our lives, not the stuff in it or ideal lifestyle
Dear Ashlynne I usually do not comment on videos but watched almost all since your first one discussing scincare 😉 After I have seen your new video I just have to let you know how important it is that influencers like you open their doors to reveal parts of less perfect and shiny real life. Keep up the good work that keeps getting better and better and better 👍👍👍
I've always liked your hair. You style it in such a cute way! Oh.. and I've found it's impossible to do everything perfectly. If I'm doing my hair, getting dressed, journaling, making my breakfast, I'm forgetting or don't have time to drink all the water, take my meds, exercise, or something else. I can only do so many "important" things in a day.
This is so refreshing. Thank you so much. I have been beating myself up for the little messes that crop up daily and I don't always have the energy to clean my house perfectly. This makes me feel so much better.
Some that truly amaze me are the cost of products they’re hauling! For instance; I may like a shirt they’re un-boxing, so I’ll google it and when I see the price is $250. ( all their items are extremely extravagant) I’m like WHAT!!!!….I could nor would I ever spend that much on 1 item, I’m too cheap. lol
I recently just deleted instagram off my phone for some of these exact reasons! I wanted to be a more present mama for my baby and a happier one. Comparison really is a thief of joy. Thank you for this video!
THIS!!!! You are so spot on to everything...unless they are rich, most people struggle w thousands of $ in credit card debt...i went to goodwill and bought a vintage sweater that i am wearing now for under $5. If i get tired of wearing the same things all the time, that's where i go to wear something "new". ...btw this is the 1st time i've seen baby Oliver and omg 😍 so cute!! He was trying to go MIA, then became a wonderful helper!...i really miss when my kids were that age. They are 9 and 13 now, but i still remember holding them on my hip like it was yesterday...i wish in all this time i didnt beat myself up for not working full time because sometimes us moms cant do it all. And i really enjoy spending time w my kids like you do w Oliver...you are doing a great job mommy! Keep it up!! ❤❤❤
I usually never comment but Ashlynne this video is so authentic! In this world of contents that we like to watch while it doesn’t make us feel good, yours just sounds right! Thank you for that
I LOVED this video!! Thank you for taking the time to put this together and be vulnerable and honest about your normal and imperfect life!! (Which is what we all have!)
My real influencers are my grandparents and my parents 🥰 They were incredible role models, so loving, naturally organized, very brave, and their lives still inspire me so much. My children and my true friends also inspire me in many ways. I just come to UA-cam for fun and it always amazes me to see all these young people on social media who are convinced they've "invented" and "discovered" things... that already existed before long before they were born :)
“Messier before it gets better.” Girl, I’m writing that one down to remember. Sometimes I feel I’m just making things worse, lol. I need to give myself more grace, for sure!
Loved this video. It's great to have a reality check and hear your thoughts about the perfection presented on social media. For me at the moment it's seeing perfect gardens, I love gardening and have moved into a home that needs a garden overhaul. Your video reminded me that this will be a process to enjoy creating my garden and not to compare what I create with those perfect pictures I see on social media (and which may be AI!).
Oh yes. Social media can really make me unworthy sometimes. Not fit enough, not beautiful enough, not doing my best, etc. I often find myself falling for those false pictures, thinking that everyone is perfect BUT me. Thanks for this. I really like your content and watch you very often. Best regards from Warsaw, Poland :)
Ashlynne, I love this version of you. Seems like becoming a mom has brought you out of your shell for your channel. This is the most IDGAflip you I’ve seen, and I’ve been watching you for YEARS!
Absolutely loved this vlog and the information you shared. I think we all feel this way but no one has actually said it so thank you. Please provide more vlogs like this and in this format. ❤
I've been watching your videos for a while now, but don't always comment. I really love this one. And as a wife and a mom of three working a full-time job, I can definitely relate to the struggles. This video is the main reason why I choose to not spend hours scrolling on social media. Thank you for putting this video out there, I'm sure a lot of people could benefit! 💜
The restocking videos on social media that show multiple of the same items , for a guest room. Do they really use all of that stuff? The clothing hauls on social media are ridiculous. Do they keep all of the clothes, or do they turn around and return them? I cannot imagine their closets and the waste if they keep the items. Great video Ashlynne!
Wow! This is probably one of my favorite videos by you Ashlynne! Very clever with making it seem like a day in life video with probably one of the most helpful messages right now (de-influencing). My struggle is with parenting and all the “rules” for what you need to do with your baby every day or your baby could fall behind and don’t forget that you also have to work full time as well or you’ll get behind with your financial goals and career. The pressure is really just too much, so thank you for giving me permission to let that go. There’s no such thing as balance with an infant. It’s literally a day by day thing for me.
This is a VERY good video that you did! Thank you for sharing with others that the internet is not real! I was born in 1984 and grew up before the internet and the smart phone came along and changed the world. I think back a lot about back then and really see how much less stress we had! The comparison game is to a WHOLE new level! And it's not good! It's awesome that you are not like everyone that has to get a bigger car/SUV when they are adding another kid! I drive a 19-year-old Camry and just don't get it while one would want to be strapped with a house payment size car/SUV payment every month!? Everything you said it straight on! I live frugal and minimal and have little to no wants. Makes life wonderful and less stress!
I really loved this video❤❤❤❤❤ that's why you're my favorite on youtube because you're so real and honest and I feel so calm when I get to spend the few minutes with you😊 I also have the same tought about social media...that's why I choose carefully who I look at in UA-cam. Because it affects us more then we realize. Thanks for being so caring and Nice! A big hug from me!
Hi Ashlynne this video is so real. Thank you! You’re beautiful and your son is omg so cute! ❤ A lot of people on social media are the most insecure sadly because they are constantly competing with other influencers. Thanks for being real!
I saw a video much like this where the commentator referred to influencers' "cleantok" as "performative cleanliness", and that was a pretty good point! There's nothing wrong with tidying up, organizing the shelves, mopping the floors, scrubbing the toilet, etc - I mean, by all means, do it! It's hygienic! 😃 But it becomes a performance for the sake of being admired by strangers when your whole focus is to have a clean and tidy home. There's a saying that talks about how people would rather clean a messy home than clean up the mess inside of them, and I can relate to that. When past trauma resurfaces, I become a cleaning and tidying addict. Since organizing and cleaning experienced a boost during the pandemic, maybe it's just a symptom of the chaos we all feel inside? "The world is out of control, but at least I can control how my kitchen looks at all hours of the day" ?
Wow what you said about your hair has me rushing to leave a comment! I've been a subscriber for ~5yrs and I have always always admired how beautiful your hair looks! Goes to show that things we are insecure about are the same things other people are admiring in us :)
Nice video honey. By baby #3 we needed a used minivan. Most people don't upsize with each baby. But at a certain point a larger car is not optional. Cars eats are HUGE.
Well done, such a necessary reminder to detach from Social Media! Let us be honest: you must be putting so much effort in your "normal" videos! Because most of the time, your home looks pretty perfect! Thanks a lot for that. I take this video as a great motivation. PS: Oliver is sooo cute!
Love this! Watched it twice! I definitely feel the fine hair part.. I’ve always felt like I’m the only woman without voluminous locks. Lots of good reminders in this time when we all have windows into other people’s curated lives. Thanks!
I appreciate this topic so much. This year im trying to get a better handle on spending vs. Saving. I feel like I was falling into the consumer trap especially with clothes. My wakeup call came during my annual purge I donated 4 trashbags of clothes some still had tags on them or I realized I didn't really like the item. So now if I see an article of clothing I'll pop it into my cart and I make myself wait 5 days to see if I really want it. This has really decreased my spending. As for a clean home like you I try to keep a tidy room but I have spaces that seem to always be dumping grounds for things I need to tackle later 😂 I work full-time and I gotta rest at some point lol
I feel like I needed this a lot. Also, side note on hair/makeup. My friend who is an Instagram influencer always wears hair extensions in her content and wears lots of makeup too, but her in real life is hair natural - no blow drying or extensions and 0 makeup. Anyway, great video.
Yes! Same here. Small house. Kids share room. One small room is a mix of music room/office room/toy storage. Both of us drive old paid off cars. It’s the way to go! Saves so much money
Absolutely love this! ❤ I wish more influencers posted videos like this to show real life. Instead of making people feel like they have to keep up with the Joneses. Keep it up Ashlynne, love your videos! 😊
Thank you so much Ashlynne for this much needed video! Have always had a lot of respect for you and the way you live❤ Sending loads of love from South Africa 🇿🇦
4:46 we live in a smaller home and our kids have the bedrooms, my husband and I have our bed in our second floor hallway/ landing above the stairs. We also haven’t made any cosmetic updates to our house but we have changed the roof, got new heating etc. Pretty much everything expensive that doesn’t show 😅 love this video, Ashlynne!
Great video! Here is another one - everyone is a DIYer. They are great at painting and making just about anything in the house. Then here I am not able to hold a can of paint 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for your honesty and doing this reality check video. I love your show and have watched it and a few others like it. You are a great content creator and they have inspired me in many ways but today’s show is one of your best.
I love your beauty routine more than I enjoy watching beauty hauls with every cosmetics product every made (which usually goes to waste because if you have 10 of the same products it's almost impossible to use up even 20% before they expire). I think the 'influencer' culture is built on our perfectionism, even perfection in minimalism although it's a bit controversial. I'D LOVE to have two perfect skincare products that I use daily and don't even need drawers because they're on display where they're easy ot reach. The problem is that to find (or believe that we've found) those two products you 'have to' try hundreds of things that don't work that well. And it's a never-ending process, there's always something new that might work better, or your skin ages and requires different treatment. So I think the problem is our idea and aspiration of 'perfection' (to each their own) in any area (not just cosmetics), while in fact we'd better stop at and be happy with 'just fine'.
I literally love your videos because of it NOT being super “trendy” also hope you are doing well ❤❤ . But you did “influence” my packing lol I have never packed the same again since watching your “pack with me” videos and they are the best ❤
Love this! I only decant if it is something I like to keep on the shelf plus in storage. I think of it like toilet paper. One on the roll and some stored. Otherwise no decanting for me, either. For jeans, I like to get something on trend, but pick a middle of the road pair that's not too extreme. They usually work longer that way.
Your baby is adorable 😊 I love u were straight up with how utube influences our way I thinking about so many things and I fine myself at 62 trying to copy but I do know when to say enough is enough thank u for your wonderful reality❤
What is something social media would tell us is normal that you want to remind us (and yourself) ISN'T? 💫
I think it's okay to own a house, but it's not realistic for many people. So, I need to remind myself often that renting is totally normal.
I think the weirdest things are the fridges full of "artisan ice" restocks.... like a whole fridge just for fancy ice... so stupid
'Disappear' and 'Reinvent yourself'
I don’t comment often but this one deserves it. Thank you 🙏🏻 this type of content is so needed right now
Totally agree 💛💛
Couldn’t agree more! 🤍
Same! Thank you for this video. It might be my favorite one now 😁
THANK YOU 🙏 🙏. I try to buy so much of what I see, when I don’t have the money or the space! Oh my gosh, Oliver is SO adorable ❤
One of my favorite videos you have done. Even your speech seemed different, really natural and relatable. Enjoyed.
Thank you so much 💛💛
I've been watching your videos for several years. This was one of my favorites.
Thank you!! This was a message very much on my heart 💛
My thoughts exactly! ❤
Yes! Definitely. Sooo real, love it

Of course! My house is far from perfect. And minimalism helps, but messes (especially with kids) are just a part of life! 🫶

So glad to hear that 🫶

My word, this!!! I did a massive unfollow when I realized I was always aggravated after watching/reading their content.

A "breath of fresh air". For literal real.
The elaborate meals gets me. It makes me feel motivated but also kind of bad about how little time I have to do full home cooked meals.
One of your best videos! Thank you for giving us all permission to be real and not strive for a constantly moving target we can never attain.
Thank you for being real, Ashlynne. It’s refreshing to see that not everything is perfect like social media wants us to believe.
This is my favorite video you've ever done ❤ thank you so much for talking about this stuff!
Also, I felt like a total BFF with the way you discussed everything! Thanks! 💚
I almost never comment on anyones video but I have to mention that this is my favorite video from you Ashlynne!!! ❤
This is healing to watch. Thanks for your honest words and thanks for telling people about responsible ways to (Not) spending money.
Multiple lavish trips per year! A family is lucky to go on a big trip once every few years at best.
Hi Ashlynne this video is so real. Thank you! You’re beautiful and your son is omg so cute! ❤ A lot of people on social media are the most insecure sadly because they are constantly competing with other influencers. Thanks for being real!
Yes!! Love this video! ❤ Social media has gotten a bit out of hand and we all need to hear this once in a while. 😊
It might be one of my favorite video ever 🤍 Thank you Ashlynne ✨
Thanks!
So glad to hear that 💛💛
I appreciate this topic so much.
Thank you for always seeing the best in all of what is most important in life.. Love watching you & your motivation on life & keeping life real 😊
I feel like I needed this a lot. Also, side note on hair/makeup. My friend who is an Instagram influencer always wears hair extensions in her content and wears lots of makeup too, but her in real life is hair natural - no blow drying or extensions and 0 makeup.
Anyway, great video.
Thank you for this! What a breath of fresh air! ❤
I never comment. I have loved watching your journey through the years through social media and congrats to you for always being authentic ❤
Yes! Same here. Small house. Kids share room. One small room is a mix of music room/office room/toy storage. Both of us drive old paid off cars. It’s the way to go! Saves so much money
Love that!! That’s the direction we’re heading 🥰🥰
Absolutely love this! ❤ I wish more influencers posted videos like this to show real life. Instead of making people feel like they have to keep up with the Joneses. Keep it up Ashlynne, love your videos! 😊
Omg THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!! We needed this to be said.
One of my favorite videos you’ve done in awhile!
Thank you so much Ashlynne for this much needed video! Have always had a lot of respect for you and the way you live❤ Sending loads of love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you this was one of the BEST videos I’ve seen!!!
Ashlynne, I love the title of your video! “De-Influencing”! So brilliant! Might have to steel this lol 😂
Thank you for your honesty and doing this reality check video. I love your show and have watched it and a few others like it. You are a great content creator and they have inspired me in many ways but today’s show is one of your best.
Thanks for posting a video like this. I really needed to hear this message today.
Sometimes life is messy. Thank you for reminding this is normal.
This is so refreshing, thank you so much!
Loved this video! Your heart❤ definitely came through. I hope this goes viral. It's a message many should see!
As a NYC resident, the influencers in there $5,000+ apartments drive me crazy!
So true!! Def feel like organizing has gone too far in those videos where the milk and EVERYTHING gets a new container
You are so real and honest! I loved his video. ❤
this is so refreshing and well said! Thank you!
This video was so comforting, thank you Ashlynne❤
This is my favorite video you have done. Thank you so much for keeping it real 💕
The organization and Pinterest perfect aesthetics is so real. That one gets me a lot, thank you for sharing. ❤
I loved the style of this video (as opposed to talking and listing things while sitting down). I liked the vlog-like incorporation.
OMG 7:29 he's the cutest🤣😭💕. Loved your contents for years💯.
Grrrl. This has to be one of your best videos (as someone who has been a subscriber for multiple years but never commented).
You are a breath of fresh air, thank you x
I think our society needs way more videos like this one! Great job! 👏
So comforting! Thank you!! ❤❤❤
This was a lovely video! Thank you for bringing some reality into a space that has gotten really unrealistic. ❤
Your baby is adorable 😊 I love u were straight up with how utube influences our way I thinking about so many things and I fine myself at 62 trying to copy but I do know when to say enough is enough thank u for your wonderful reality❤
