Had mine for 2 months and love how compact and functional it is.
Nice 👍
That IR camera would be worth the price of admission. Pretty cool.
Yeah, I didn’t need an IR but now I can’t stop playing with it 😮
MAN THIS THING IS COOL👍FREE STUFF 🤷♂️WHO DOESNT WANT FREE STUFF
It is pretty cool, I’ve been temp checking everything
Ok, that's a must have. Nice combo for the type of stuff I tinker with. Thanks for letting us know its out there.
I can’t wait to temp check some roids!
Seems like a pretty slick tool!
It’s definitely fun to play with, hopefully I get to temp check some roids!
I love when ppl testing stuff without reading the manual or checking the functions first place.... the temp reading change is right under the HOLD/Range button.
I love that too 👍
I want one!! 👍👍👍
They are fun
Grabbing the thermal photo off via the USB connect is handy. Have you tried connecting to your smartphone via OTG? Figure in field use good to not have to lug around a real computer to plug in to. Nice price for that resolution too.
I haven’t tried the OTH but that’s a good idea 👍
Thermal imaging has been part of my day job for the past 17 years, providing training as well as scans on industrial facilities, using name brand cameras (that you’d recognize) ranging from $500 - $40,000. Given the cost, that’s actually fairly impressive. I wouldn’t use it as a professional tool, but for the hobbyist…

Yeah, this is hobby grade for sure but I have to admit... I thought it was pretty cool.
that a nice meter. never saw one with IR camera . now you can check your connections . a bad one heats up. I have a Flair . use for my electrical work. can test UNUN and Balun as well. you can see wire heat up and or the core. my 10 AWG wind ones the wire stays cool and the core heats up after a wile. very handy to have. test your cores on the antenna kits you have. make a good video on core heating. FT8 heats the small ones up . makes a nice red ring on IR camera. get to hot and SWR will spike . will be great to show why we down rate for digital and modes like AM/FM . have some fun with that meter. 73's
I’m pretty excited about the meter, hoping to test some ‘roid with it soon 👍
Pretty cool meter
Thanks Thump 👍
I do not think I have seen an IR camera at that resolution and refresh/scan rate below 100 bucks. The cheep ir cameras are horrible. But this is a lot better....and the DMM together..... Wow. Contemplating ....Contemplating .....Contemplating
Hey Ken, I really haven’t been in the IT market so I have no idea what’s out there 🤨
I know this is meant for hams who will mostly need close range, but have you tested this at longer ranges? I'm curious how well it works at say 10-20ft distance as common in home inspection applications. I'm also curious about accuracy. How do the measured values compare against say, a calibrated thermocouple?
Sorry man, I didn’t test either of those conditions
I'll put it on my wish list. My wife keeps shredding my list but I keep making it. Thanks for the video. 73, KF0NNQ.
Hey Bill, my wife does the same thing
Emissivity has to do with the type of material you are trying to measure the temperature of. A shiny surface will have a different amount of IR energy emitted than a surface that is rusted, or painted, metal or plastic, ect.. at the same temperature. Allows you to calibrate for the material you are interested in testing.
Ah, thanks for the info Arnold 👍
Yeah, it can be really weird. If you have something with a somewhat shiny enclosure, the IR camera will do a really poor job measuring the temp of that enclosure. Put a piece of flat black gaffers tape on the enclosure and BAM, good readings.
@@TheSmokinApe I should also say, flat black spray paint makes a big difference in getting good readings. It's usually cheap and dries fast which is a nice bonus.
When I was working in the field, we'd place a piece of duct tape on a reflective/shiny surface and shoot it to get the temp. I think we'd use an emissivity of about .9 for the tape, but it was far more accurate than just trying to get the temp of a low-e surface as it is without the tape.
How is the MS13s Pro compares to this model?
Sorry, I haven't used the MS13s
WHAT? No built in compass? LOL Looks good, but I'd be a bit concerned that it's "rechargeable" and does not use regular batteries. If you're out in the field, the worst feeling is when you need a tool and find it needs recharging and thus rendering you helpless.
and no emergency flasher either....
I didn’t crack it open but I suspect it’s a LiFePo4 pouch in there
Funny looking oscilloscope probes, look more like multimeter leads to me. Sure don't wanna try pushing 10,000 volts through them when they have 1,000 volts written on them🤣
I was just looking at Thermal imaging guns, could be a good all in one
It’s is handy but I have no idea how it compares to IR guns on the market 🤨
That looks very very interesting... This is the regular version right? I think the pro is red.. not sure what the difference is aside from color. Man, gotta go sell some more plasma now
Yeah, I didn’t even know there was a pro 🤨
HAA 😂CAT 3 😹😹😹 MEOWWWW
Lol
Hi, is there any special way to connect via USB?
Mine - it has arrived a couple hours ago - is not connecting to my phone neither PC.
Under settings you have to enable USB-MOD
@TheSmokinApe Thanks, but there is no swappable option, just a USB signal.
But last time I tried it, it worked :).
Yeah, I think just going into that setting turns it on
You should but it to a known faulty board and show how it sees a faulty component. I’d love to see something like that before buying.
That would be pretty cool
@@TheSmokinApeI have an older radio needing repair but am stuck sending in. I’m sure I can’t see the issue without thermal. Be a pretty cool diagnosing device if it can see from closer distance as it does with your other items.
@@briank3940 You can buy a macro lens for these for close up work, and it works great for electronic circuit board troubleshooting👍
Ape has a nice toy again. 😊
You right about the Karl 👍
That's cool. Measure Toe-roids next?
Hey Sean, that’s the plan 👍
Price???
With the link and code in the description it’s about 135$
What does a herd of cows look like at 150 yds? Asking for a friend.
Lil blurry
Today I received the macro lens for the MT13S and I have to say, it's a joke! No improvement, in fact, a slight deterioration! No matter what the distance.
That’s sucks, I didn’t even know they had one
Unless it can pick up IR at 1000 meters it is useless to me.
P.S. the rest of the world uses Metric get with the times.
I don’t like metric 😮
And technically 1000 meters is a kilometer 🤔
@@TheSmokinApe Hey see you could be a Canadian at this point...
@@TheSmokinApe it is like knowing two languages we favor one but it is always nice to know more.
I do like the syrup up there 👍
