I listen to a lot of these pod casts, and was always hoping to see someone that isn't Spec Ops get interviewed. This is great. I love seeing a fellow maintainer on here.

One of the greatest interviews I have ever seen. That Master Sergeant (Senior soon he said) is an absolute incredible speaker . I’m surprised he’s not on Joe Rogan yet. Who is this guy? Absolutely incredible interview!!!

This was a great episode. Im currently a maintainer on F-22s. I began on F-16s. I joined the AF on a TACP contract. That didnt work out obviously. Trent was actually one of my Cadre at BA Prep back in 2018. I will say maintanence is easy or difficult depending on the airframe. Heavys/drones tend to be easier whereas fighters suck to work on simply because of stuff breaking(literally all the time) and ops tempo. Honestly what makes maintenance suck is more so the way you get treated and not particularly the job itself. Dont get me wrong the job can suck alot of time but it wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the fact that in alot of units you just get treated like dirt. This stems from the fact that at the end of the day the maintainer isnt the product, the aircraft is. So no matter what has to be done to get that bird in the air they will do it no matter who they step on in the process. I got stories for days, both good and bad, that i wont get into here but suffice to say being a maintainer can be summed in one word: draining

I was a Crew Chief on F-16's active duty in Spangdahlem AB. C-17's As a reservist down in Dover... 21yrs in being an A&P tech. Most people I crewd jets with changed their afsc. High ops tempo, Civilian life as a tech is a lil more laid back.

I was avionics at Spangdahlem in the 22nd, but '05-'08. Probably my favorite assignment.

Great episode. Aircraft maintenance might just be one of the most underrated career fields in the air force. 👍🏻

It's definitely not underrated. It's one of the hardest.

literally the infantry of the air force

@@MrSpotface more like the backbone. Wouldn't call maintenance infantry by any means lol

@@trevorwalden6097 that's why I said infantry. It's a metaphor. The infantry is the back bone of the army. MX is the backbone of the air force. They are analogous in this regard. If we are talking about career similarity then TACP would be the most similar to infantry in terms of culture and lifestyle.

There are different levels of importance of the various jobs. If your shop closes on the weekends and holidays, then your job isn't as critically important as the ones that are going 24/7. Sure, it's important that everyone gets paid on time and correctly, but if you don't show up to work for a day, the mission doesn't come to a halt.

Ones Ready doesn’t have a Discord, but AFSW does and we are in there.
