The D1 demo came bundled on my Acer Aspire computer that I bought in May 1996. At the time, I was living near Interplay's headquarters in Irvine CA, so I drove over there on Finch Avenue and bought the full game for $23 at the corporate office. I've been playing ever since. D1, D2, and D3. My favorite would be D2 because the look, the sound, the gameplay, and especially the missions that people have come up with over the years. In the early days weak computers and video cards couldn't keep up with a large room or multiple bots coming at you without getting jittery. It's a different story today with powerful processors, video cards, and the free rebirth version that runs under Windows. No pixel boxes here, and smooth detailed gameplay. The Gauss gun is my primary weapon of choice. The various missiles come into play depending on the situation. Here are some cheat codes: almighty = invulnerable with a countdown timer, honestbob = all weapons, rockergrl = full map, silkwing = bots attack each other and you. There are other codes you can find on the Internet. I prefer single player missions.
😳😍☺ This was my go-to game back in the 90s! It was this and Carmageddon2. Damn, I miss this game so much. The soundtrack is insane too! Still listen to it.
Wow, Unreal, Quake II, FS2, Descent, HL, Red Faction etc... you're going through my old time favorites! Loved these games, definitely earned a sub. Any chance you might cover any of the ol Lucasarts-era games too? (Outlaws, Jedi Knight, XvT/XWA etc.) or the QII/Q3A/Unreal Engine ones like Soldier of Fortune 1&2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein...
Hi All, what tools or what combination of tools do i have to use in order to go with this ship so beautiful like in the vid? I used to play on keyboard only but that was tough to play... thankyou!
I never freed the guide bot, and I was disgusted by the fact the devs put it in the game. I like to explore the map of my own. The enemy I loved and hated the most was the bandit. I liked to try to make traps for it , with proximity mines.
Probably has a higher chance of getting a copyright violation, but also the redbook OST isn’t as long as the midi OST so it quickly becomes repetitive. Both are great.

Man, LOVED both Descent and Descent 2 back in the day! 👍
This was great to see. Some little places I could never figure out, and a secret level I'd never seen.
I randomly picked up Descent (I) at a Goodwill years ago and it blew my mind, and I just got the whole collection at the Steam Summer Sale!
Must be over 20 years since I last played this. Never could get the Blue Book soundtrack to work though
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Let poor Guide Bot out 🥺

Perhaps one day. I'll certainly consider some of those titles :)
This looks great! How did you manage to get it to play in wide aspect and 1080p??
Maybe d1x?
why the hell are you constantly bobbing up and down like that
We had this game at our school on the network, it was awesome God Bleas Voach Azevedo
I always wondered who did the voice over. It really sounds like Bruce Boxleitner but it's not. The voice actor really sounds like him though.
He doesn't let out guide bit 😔

It's an opensource port called Descent Rebirth (D2-Rebirth in this case)
It would be so great if you could add commentary to this.. ie the secretes etc.. no one had ever done a proper tut for it.

The same people who did REBEL MOON should pick this up and make some serious movies.. hella content..
Why doesn't anyone upload a playthrough using the CD soundtrack? This midi shit is killing my earholes.

waste of time - won't play - moving on
