  • Glendale Cemetery in Akron, Ohio is home to some early and influential pioneers of the canal town. Influenced by Mount Auburn Cemetery in Massachusetts, Glendale has a garden cemetery layout with mausoleums, statues, and headstones that date back to the early 1800's.

I am from Akron, now living in SC and my mother is laid to rest there. It is truly a beautiful and memorable cemetary one of the best in the nation and is on the national historic registry of famous places.

A wonderful view of a beautiful cemetery. Did you notice the sun rays when you were in front of the first mausoleum? Quaker Oats is a big company here in Cedar Rapids. You can always tell when it's Crunch Berry day! I got chills about Mary
What an inspiring story! She probably would have volunteered to help in WW2.Great video!

I didn’t notice the sun rays until I started editing the video. Totally accidental!

Good evening, really interesting video. I love looking around church yards. I used to do this with my nan when I was younger. Her village church, in Buckland Dinham, near Frome, Somerset where she now lies, dated from around 1200, with later additions. Obviously the oldest grave stones were well worn. It is such a peaceful way to spend time and when I do the same now I always think of her, best wishes.

@@frankharrington4881 Good morning Patricia, I love exploring historic sites and buildings. I live not too far from several castles - built to 'repel the Welsh' along the Marches. We've also got the remnants of a motte and bailey castle and also an iron age hill fort in the local town, and a beautiful ruin called Whittington Castle very close by, have a wonderful day, best regards.

Great tour! Beautiful fluffy white clouds and the picturesque cemetery! The sun with his warm light bathing those who have in perfect rest here. The light, the wind and
the twitting of the birds in the cemetery speak about the great people that once
walked upon this earth. Today! Yes, today
they are not belittled. Every whisper, every
bird and the murmuring of the wind proclaim
their greatness! Great people! Great video! And a never-before experience for me!

Excellent video as always. It's fascinating to learn about how people lived all those years ago, I can't wait for part two. I love history, be it English, American or anywhere. And may I say I really like the musical score used it's haunting and beautiful very much like graveyards are in my opinion. I often visit graveyards to sit and reflect on life, death and the hereafter.

One night, with the same people as Rogue's Hollow, we found a grave of a train engineer. I couldn't tell you where in the cemetary because it was 1990. We placed a cassette recorder on the grave and tried to get EMPs--even though they weren't called that at the time.
