My wife and I took her mom and dad to this Forest Lawn in Glendale. Her mom was a huge fan of Clark Gable who’s in the Great Mausoleum. As a favor to her, the attendant ushered us to his resting place. Her dad was an avid reader of western writer Louis L’Amour. His grave is just outside the Great Mausoleum to the right as you’re facing the entrance. The attendant asked him if he was a fan. When he said yes she offered him a Louis L’Amour book that she said his family offers to his fans. He actually found one he didn’t yet own. It was a memorable experience. Thank you Jeff for this walk down memory lane.
It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries there is. My oldest son is buried there, a victim of an off road accident at age 20. Thanks for the guided tour.
Wonderful video! You missed Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, but bringing in Russ Columbo with his great looks and voice made up for it. Mary Boland was a fun actress and yes Red Skelton! Before he died, I was privileged to sit within three feet of Mr. Skelton at a restaurant. I will never forget it. He was so polite and very friendly with the Staff.
I think the rain added a nice touch. Even in death you can’t get close to Michael Jackson. I remember my parents watching Falcon Crest and my dad telling us that was the Presidents ex wife. That’s a beautiful cemetery that’s very well kept. Thank you for the history lesson!
As a kid we lived in the "Adam's Hill" area of Glendale and if you stood in our backyard and looked up you could see the back wall of Forest Lawn which was a few streets above us. It was all well and fine until you were out back at night and your older brother would tell you how at night all the ghosts of those buried there would get up and walk around.
You probably saw my brother and sister with their friends running around the place at night dodging the security guards back in the day right before Halloween. There was a hole under the wall they would slide under and go in as dares to find famous graves at night and touch them. They did say they saw what looked like greenish mist moving around on the grounds. They never stayed long enough to see if it was a trick of the light. I lived in the neighborhood between, San Fernando Blvd and Glendale Ave, behind the Seelys Furniture store right next to the underpass and railroad tracks on Gardena Ave. I could see the cross on top of The Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection from my bedroom lit up at night. Watched them change it from a cross to a star every Christmas season and back after New Year's.
@@jbenziggy did you know red Skelton was on the air on his show when he found out that his son had passed away at least that’s what I heard and he continued the show
My grandparents had a large picture of the Last Supper in their kitchen. Way back we were there for a family dinner. My cousin looked at the picture and said “there’s Jesus and the boys!” Happy Easter Jeff and Sarah!
I visited Forest Lawn Glendale every Sunday following church services for decades. A vast and most fascinating landmark. The list of notables resting there is almost innumerable. In the Grand Mausoleum are also W.C. Fields and Hopalong Cassidy and the incorrupt remains of a prominent Spiritual figure. The wealth of interesting stuctures, art and views make it a must see for anyone passing by the Los Angeles area.
Jeff and Sarah are the best and always have been I've been hooked on them for years nobody compares Jeff and Sarah Love the program would not miss it for the world! Your number one fan Lou Martell

I was just reading the memoirs of a comedian named Jimmy Kennedy, and he spoke fondly of Red Skelton. “Keep it clean, Jimmy.” That was Red’s advice to Jimmy about how to make his act big in the industry. (That advice would definitely not work today, sadly.) I’ve always loved Red’s films, and his show, I consider him one of the absolute funniest comedians of all-time. And it seems he was just as nice a man as he was a funny comedian. Thank you for sharing your trip to his grave with us.

Red Skeleton was such a class act!
His life was really tragic in many ways. Three marriages, son dies, ex wife kills herself.
Also a Master Mason and Shriner clown too.
My Grandfather liked Red Skelton.
One needs to visit the Red Skelton Museum in his hometown of Vincinnes, IN. The house he grew up in is right across the field.
@@spokanetomcat1 Red Sekelton considered himself a clown first, comedian second.

You'd love his museum in Vincennes, IN.
He could perform comedy without being raunchy. Unlike some of the more modern day comedians.
Red Skelton always ended his show with “God Bless”, it was amazing, he was a good human.
