I adjust/tune all my triggers to 3-4 lbs for consistency (me clumsy) but really should take a few shots with gloves on. And I could do that any time with the RFs. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Thanks for showing us so many Wheeler & Caldwell goodies. I won't replace much of what I've had for twenty years but this new(?) trigger gauge is something I wish I'd had all along. btw, I thought I was done buying more bench gear, and I don't have the Lead Sled DFT yet either. (Doh!)
Adam, anxiously waiting for a battle of the 264 Win Mags! Please scope up the Model 70 Super Grade BEAUTY for the battle of the ages. I am predicting the Sendero will come out on top at 100 yards & 200 yards. The SG is gorgeous, but no match for the Sendero’s three-rings-of-steel. Have fun and looking forward to the 264 Win Mag shoot out.
"This is going to be a really fun video", starts all your video's. Tonight the fun you were having was more evident than any previous one in my memory. The only bad thing about this video is you spent 22 minutes testing triggers on only some of your rifles, I would be lucky to go 6 minutes for all mine following your format. Enjoyed the video and trigger pull weight would be a nice addition when showing us your newest acquisitions. Keep up the great work.
I just got my first one also. Mine is not digital though. I just got my first chronograph last year and can't believe I've gone this long with out either of them! I've been hunting and shooting for nearly 50 years and reloading for over 40 of that.
The first guns trigger is at the point of being a impact or incidental discharge risk in a big way !!. Bolt slam tests and but stock impact tests may be needed here ! Good video
Nice gage, thank you for sharing. One thing I noticed in your tests is many rifles had a fair amount of overtravel. I'm ok with any trigger under 3#, but overtravel drives me nuts. To me, a good trigger has pull weight and overtravel adjustments. Should also mention free take-up is a no-go either.
geez...I've used to 3 to 5 lb hunting triggers. I don't think I'd know how to act with a less than a lb trigger pull lol. Your armory is quite impressive. I'd love to see how that old Winchester shoots. Beautful wood and rifle. Like to see that one at the range. I may have to get that Wheeler trigger gauge. Give my Lyman to my son. Thx for posting.
A thought, place some painters tape on the trigger with a mark on the tape. Then the gauge does not slip, and you can locate the gauge in the same position each time. It gives much, much more consistent readings.
I try to keep my hunting rigs at 3 pounds. Consistent pull no matter which boolott slinger I'm toting around. I've replaced plenty of Ruger American triggers to get a clean 3 pound pull. The 22-250 wears a Timney, 2 pound pull. 22 Creedmoor wears a Calvin Elite, set at 1 pound 8 ounces.
Just a bit of advice,or a tip however you take it ,,,on that gauge dont pull the large screen part ,its actually designed to use with your finger on the plate that hooks on the trigger,it will give a true reading this way if you pull on it the wieght will increase as the sear breaks ,,,try it you will see,,yes im big into triggers my average rifle has a 5 oz trigger and my bench rigs i run about 2oz i wont own anything that has a trigger over a pound,,,and no light triggers are only dangerous if you dont have proper sear engagement,,and you will know when you give them the slap bump test or slam the bolt home if it fires thecsear engagement is not set properly
Watched your vids and bought a cva lrh in 7prc. Got 1 1/2 groups. Traded it off on a savage 110 trail hunter in 7prc. Got 5/8 groups the first time I shot it. That 110 is impressive
As someone who is used to milspec/milsurp triggers and stick glocks... these are just insane weights... i go by the rules of service rifle cmp no less that 4.5lbs.
I have a Ruger American predator. Did some polishing on the sear and trigger face, as well as swapping out the trigger spring for a ball point pen spring. Upon reinstalling everything, as soon as I took up the blade safety, the rifle fired. It too was probably in that 6oz range. Decided it was best that I turn that sucker up. It’s probably 1.5-2lbs now.
I have a Jard 3oz in my CZ 457 22lr it takes some getting used to. 10oz is my preferred weight. Once you get used to light target triggers you can't go back lol.
More info is always welcome, just a few years ago we all blamed lawyers for rough heavy triggers..was it just makers covering their backside or just get the product out the door as cheap as possible? Yes having this on the range would be a welcome addition to your slinger tests,,,,as would a chrono on your ammo tests to tell who is shorting us on powder, more important than group size,,just sayin…….
That's kinda insane on that first one, but I'm not familiar with anything anywhere near that low, but it seems if you accidentally cough you may fire off a round! 😂
Hey Adam!! I pulled a 1911 series 70 that felt Three pounds short crisp as a potato chip but was five pounds!! We pulled it over and over and couldn't believe it! Guess who did the trigger Job??
P-64 Polish 9x18mm Makarov's have 25-28 pound trigger pulls on DA its totally absurd. If your trigger finger is strong enough to pull the trigger once, the P-64 always double taps 2 rounds out.
Isn’t that a AR style trigger on those Barrett’s? Some basic hand work and Emory cloth will drop that 5 down to 3.5# easy if so, and it will be a smooth pull not gritty or clunky. What I do with all mine now. Have 1 geisllle from a big sale I bought, rest are just worked over mill spec’s that I get down to the 3.5-4.25 range. More than good enough for most applications.
2# is my minimum.Semi auto handguns mostly risky with unintentional double taps. Semi auto rifles should have some trigger resistance for safety. I like a silky smooth 2# up to a 4#.
Trigger tension is a bit like muzzle energy - variable and they can both affect changes to the accuracy in relation to point off aim and actual point of impact . This is particularly noticeable in none powder burners , could You show us some of the trigger pull weights of Your pellet slingers . Thanks WTW catch You next time , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.
I just watched all the rock chuck vids..I would like to see you scale down the 1000yd target in proportion and try it at 100 yds..I think you could hit it..🎉No lead sled , off bipods..
Near imposable to find a nicer trigger than the Jewel. Had one on my big gun n robbed the action to build my Whelen. Suprises those shooting it that are not used to a nice trigger.
@@rosalindstewart7013 For sure! I'm a professional at weekends. In the ol days it was playing shows, goin to shows, and shutin the partys down. Nowadays it's some caffeinated beverages, maybe a little mother nature, and a good project around the house. Tonight "I'm in AZ it's still 102 at 8pm" is replacing weather stripping on the garage for house painting. Good times nowadays.
Browning BMG M2 HB. I don't think your neato gauge will test that one accurately! You won't be hunting with one of those anyway. Really interesting video! Good show.
So if the .50 cal's trigger pulls like a striker-fired DAO handgun pretend you're shooting one and imagine less flinch and let the kick surprise you like the trigger break of a Glock or a Kahr.
My trail hunter in 6.5cm was close to 4lbs with it adjusted as low as possible. I cut a couple coils off the trigger spring and its a little under 2 now, much better. Great shooting gun, puts em in one big hole at 100yd.
IMO never a good idea to cut a spring shorter. Yes, it will lighten the pull but at a risk of an AD. Far better to buy a spring with the correct free length to properly preload the trigger. A good test is to bump the recoil pad on the floor a few times to ensure that the rifle won't discharge. I know many people will disagree with me but just saying be careful.
I just got my first one also. Mine is not digital though. I just got my first chronograph last year and can't believe I've gone this long with out either of them! I've been hunting and shooting for nearly 50 years and reloading for over 40 of that.
Wheeler Trigger Gauge here: amzn.to/4dN8UKs
That was cool. I enjoyed every bit of it. I'm glad you got a trigger gauge. ✌
Glad to see that .220 has a Jewell trigger and not a factory one let down that far.
My hunting rifles I like around 3lbs due to heavy gloves. In the bush these sub 2lb triggers are dangerous imho
Couldn't agree with you more..The pull weight is only one factor..Trigger design, consistency and reliability matters way, way more..IMO..
I adjust/tune all my triggers to 3-4 lbs for consistency (me clumsy) but really should take a few shots with gloves on. And I could do that any time with the RFs. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Agreed, a crisp 3-3.5 lb trigger is perfect for a hunting rifle
Thats is a real bad ass Remington bing bag stick ,im sure you will use it this hunting season.
(Doh!)
Wow. I just built one with a 1.3 lb trigger. Be careful. 👍
Awesome
I have the sam tester, I love it, no problem with testing, and reads on the money.

It’s fascinating to see how different triggers can affect accuracy and shooting experience.

Wait, just one? IMO so many.
Very handy for you Adam. 👍

A suitcase weigher does the same thing! I tested a digital one next to my wheeler analog and they were super close!

Goo video WTW. Thanks for all the work.
Thanks for watching
2lb bolt, 4.5lb AR.

Awesome
.. I've got the very same trigger pull gauge ... good product ... a lot better than doing it with fish weighing scales
Try your Ruger Americans and 10/22’s.
My Hunting Rifles all are adjusted to 800 Gramm (around 1.7pounds) for normal Hunting, for driven Hunts i set my go to Rifle to 1.2kg (2.6 pounds)
As someone who is used to milspec/milsurp triggers and stick glocks... these are just insane weights... i go by the rules of service rifle cmp no less that 4.5lbs.
Great video whoteewho my hunting rifles are around 5-8lbs triggger pull

I got to pick up a trigger pull guage and a set of calipers soon...
That's kinda insane on that first one, but I'm not familiar with anything anywhere near that low, but it seems if you accidentally cough you may fire off a round! 😂
👍WTW
Always liked a 2lb trigger in cold weather..
Great...now do some pistolas and revolvers please. 🙏
I’m surprised you didn’t already have a trigger gauge 😊..
I would like to see you test the triggers on your Vanguards and Ruger American gen 2s.
Let's check those airguns
Cool thanks!
I like 9 ounces on precision/long range rifles and 1.5 to 2 pounds on my hunting rifles.
Great video! How is your hand?
Hand is better
You'll probably need new batteries for it after today.😂
Now you can adjust all your triggers to the same weight. That should help you group well.
Hey Adam!! I pulled a 1911 series 70 that felt Three pounds short crisp as a potato chip but was five pounds!! We pulled it over and over and couldn't believe it! Guess who did the trigger Job??

I need to get a cva scout that is an amazing trigger for a factory rifle
I run 3-3.5lb triggers... AR50-A1 came from the factory 3.5lbs
Isn’t that a AR style trigger on those Barrett’s? Some basic hand work and Emory cloth will drop that 5 down to 3.5# easy if so, and it will be a smooth pull not gritty or clunky.

I like my deer rifles set at 2 lbs.
My varmint rifles set, depending on the trigger Mgr, as light as they can be safe.
You should test the trigger on the elephant rifle.
Good idea
Would you test the ruger american ranch 7.62x39 please
Yo when we gonna see that super grade 264 in action let us know lol
2# is my minimum.Semi auto handguns mostly risky with unintentional double taps. Semi auto rifles should have some trigger resistance for safety. I like a silky smooth 2# up to a 4#.
I've got a Howa 1500 bull barrel in 308 Win very nice trigger. But my .22Lr BRNO model 1 now that trigger is 4 oz very very light trigger.
u have allot of bing bangs. You ever look at Boydes gun stocks? They have some nice thumbhole and all adjustable.
I have many videos on Boyds yup
I can't believe that you didn't have a trigger gauge as much as you talk about trigger pull.
Great video i agree with some of the other comments i like might hunting rifles around 3 to 3-1/2 lbs
Nice & light unlike my pistolè = SD trigger makes my rifle triggers seem vrty easy , lol
I like about a 2.5 pound trigger, esp. on my ARs.
I put an mcarbo spring in both my brownings 1.5 pounds that is plenty light for me sometimes too light

Where's the Hi-Point. My guess is 8 lbs.

My ruger number 1 has a good trigger not to heavy not to light 0 creep😊
Good vid mate, try the trigger on your spanking nice 204 sir, cheers Yogi ✌️
Near imposable to find a nicer trigger than the Jewel. Had one on my big gun n robbed the action to build my Whelen. Suprises those shooting it that are not used to a nice trigger.
Do your Ruger American gen 2. I have the rifle and i think the trigger is heavy
Looking forward to the ruger Americans
Do you have a video on the AXIS2?*?
Yes. But not with teigger gauge yet
Live premier, happy happy Friday Who Tee and friends
Happy friday!
Same to you mate ✌️

What the trigger pull on CVA cascade 22 250
I used to use a 8oz trigger on my competition 22. All triggers feel like dookie after that.
Check a few handguns .
i like a trigger pull at 2pounds though i do shoot 500 meeter pistol and that one has a 2 ounce trigger.
So if the .50 cal's trigger pulls like a striker-fired DAO handgun pretend you're shooting one and imagine less flinch and let the kick surprise you like the trigger break of a Glock or a Kahr.
Do you have any Howa 1500 rifles to check?
Yup
Now you have me curious as to what my M107a1 is???
220 swift vs 22-250. All the tests.
👍👍
Gday mate just a question what do you think would be the most accurate 7MMRM rifle brand at the moment
I have a sako20 in 7mm mag that is great
Would like to see ur 450 bushmaster and 7.62x39 Ruger Americans, my triggers are all set around 1.5lbs
Do you still have the cva scout pistol? If so how is that trigger?
Yup. Haven't tested it but should be same as others
I have an AMT DAO backup with a 19lb trigger. Its only purpose is to practice trigger control. It is comically bad.
WOW
It’s getting too cramped in here, lol
Sako S20 Hunter please
Tikka T3X?
Need one
You might try bouncing the butt off the floor a few times to see if the trigger trips, unloaded safety off. Be safe! 😊
What's the worst trigger ya got? I'm gonna guess it's your SCCY.
❤❤❤
Worst trigger that i have seen is on S&W SD40
