One year later and this is still one of my favorite videos on UA-cam. All three ladies on the front line are perfection and the rhythm section is rock steady.
Savoy Blues? More like Savory Blues -- very tasty. Excellent performances all around. Haruka is great as always. Clarinet was very nice indeed. Love this group.
Well, has anyone ever heard a more tasteful version of 'Savoy Blues' than this? Well done, ladies. And many thanks to RaoulDuke504 for recording it for the benefit of those of us who are thousands of miles away.
These ladies are outstanding and form a dream band. This performance brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Pops Coffee for mentioning this video on your blog.
Wonderful performances ladies! Chloe always So tasteful on clarinet, and Haruka on trombone, excellent sound. Marla on trumpet is a treat, the solid rhythm section is invaluable to be able to accomplish this sound!
Did not know Molly played the upright 👍🏻Doesn’t surprise me cause this lady has great talent .....along with the rest of the band. Class act. Can’t wait to listen to them LIVE!!!
Inspirational!! Your arrangement & musical innovations rival that of Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen on his 1st Kapp Album in 1962 (my favorite) Yours - BanjoBob
Wow ! By this time they were way past being an novelty act and were performing tight, full traditional jazz. A sign of things to come, one can hear a couple years later. Don't know how I missed this .. perhaps because Julie Schexnayder was missing, or I knew that hall could be problematic, or because I've heard Savoy Blues a hundred times. Randy clearly knew how to get great audio and video, avoiding the awful reverb in that room - Thank You !
Bob Throne: with that personell they were never a novelty act no matter what whoever booked them thought. Serious contenders for best jazz clarinetist and best jazz trombonist today, Marla Dixon to lead, super solid rythem section - that is as solid a traditional New Orleans Jazz Band as there is. Only Tuba Skinny comes close. In my warped opinion not even Shotgun or Loose Marbles but I'll listen to and enjoy any jazz band.
Bob, I agree. Randy placed himself the only place he could get decent sound while recording, by being as near the band as possible. That museum with its stone walls, and floors was not made for concerts. Of course he has been doing a great job for years recording live music in New Orleans.
Shaye Cohn started Shake 'em Up! Amazing. And since she was replaced by Hiruki(sorry) Shay must have been playing trombone as I did see on one video. Thank you for the link.
Yet to hear Molly play a solo is exquisite. I want Gibson to build her a custom Jazz axe to her tastes, give her the prototype and I'll bet you I WOULD have one delivered to my Artist toute de suite.
I usually listen to bebop jazz, but just this band is exceptionally special. Beyond jazz genres, this band always gives me great groove and musicality comfortably. I am so proud that Haruka-san is a member of this great band as the same Japanese. Any plan for this band to come to Japan once the covid-19 situation is settled ? I would love to see Haruka-san's triumphal performance to Japan!

And that's the Savoy Blues. I think we got it. Huzzah!
This has to be a definitive version of the Savoy Blues. It looks so easy.

Chloé espetacular; Haruka Genial!
I really, really like the sound of a clarinet. It’s so versatile in terms of genres and the sound velvet soft.

@@markhorton3994 I absolutely agree - not a "novelty act".

Almost as energetic as Max Collie and his Rythm Aces' version off the "Live at Trafalgar Square" album.

Аааа так вот оно что бос цыган японка
This band needs six for sure although five is fine.
Maybe it's me, but I always thought Haruka sounded better, with her 'bone, unmuted.
А сколько тебе лет оператор мне вроде больше сотки может и больше на много больше а ты точно старикан .
