I am a black female. I don't know why you were on my recommended but I was hooked.....anxious to see the end result. Your easy "mom next door" personality is what really pulled me in. I don't know much about highlights but what I do know is that you did a fantastic job. It's no longer a solid brown at the top, it's a nice and even mixture of blonde and brown. Thanks for sharing. Now I want to try this on one of my white friends. I could really hook her or him up!😊

Hi Angie!!! I’m commenting from my daughter’s channel- at any rate I’m a colorist and think you did great-- a few tips-- 1. Pour the powder in first before developer. You will have more control over the consistency. 2. Start applying from bottom up. Meaning do the sides first then work your way to the top. This way you don’t have to clip sections with the bleach. This can lead to spots. ❤️

I absolutely love the L’Oréal Frost and Design kit. I highlighted my hair during Covid and I was amazed at how nice my hair turned out. I used the cap and although it took some time (I’m an RN, not a stylist), it was worth it. Truth be told, it looks just as good and professional as when my hairstylist does it, but at a fraction of the price.

You did a great job, Angie! I used to do my grandmother's hair for her. It was a nice time to spend together talking, and she appreciated the help. She was so happy when it was all done! It's not easy to colour your own hair, but it's definitely worth it to save the $300.00 or whatever it costs you. No one would know you did it yourself!

Hi Angie as a stylist myself I commend you for your patience. I have highlighted my hair when it was short but not at my medium length. Now I just go to a salon. My salon visit with a cut is 95.00 so a little less expensive. Also since I worked in a salon for many years doing clients hair it's nice having someone do my hair. Wow, it looks fabulous! Great job!

So impressive! Coming from a hair professional! 1 tip, if you take the powder bleach and slowly add the developer you will get a paste that is thicker and easier to apply and stays in place. I totally get doing your roots yourself it's so necessary, every two weeks at a salon is too much! Love your videos!!!!

You have no idea how excited I am about this video. I highlighted mine for YEARS, but then I got chicken when I started getting grays. My friend is my stylist so I know she will be fine with doing it in between. GENIUS!! You have saved the day/week/month/year once again, Angie!

I'm so glad I gave up colouring my hair and I just love my silver. The worrying about roots, the chemicals, the cost. It's liberating and my only regret is not doing it sooner.

Thank you for doing this- I’m finding it’s ridiculously expensive to get the roots done every 5/6 weeks and I used to color my hair all the time, too, but decided to go to the salon because thought it would be healthier for my hair to use better color through the salon. I think your hair turned out stunning.

  • @labsnabys

I think it came out beautifully. I stopped coloring my hair about 2 years ago after 30+ years of coloring. I'm the same age as you and started really going gray in my 20s...thanks, Mom! I finally had enough and ditched the dye at age 55. I'm lucky to be curly and completely salt-and-pepper, so the grow out was less obvious. I have no regrets! I will never question or judge anyone who chooses to color. I think you look fabulous! But I sure don't miss the expense or work of coloring my hair.

I literally do my hair the same exact way, every 2 months or so, roots one day highlights the next, I even use the same box highlights as you do. I get a little nervous when doing highlights for fear of leaving on to long, but usually always comes out perfect and looks great like yours. ❤️❣️

I like the plastic caps that tie around the chin and have the blue circles to show where to poke through to pull the hair through. I can pull as much or as little hair out as I want and the placement of the highlights is always so perfect when I finish styling!

I was so excited to see this, couldn't wait to watch! I ALSO do darker roots to cover my grays (I call it "shadow root"), and also do my own highlights. Our methods are very similar, yet I still picked up some tips, thanks Angie!
I get my supplies at Sallies, my hairdresser knows I've been doing my own color since I was 10 years old, so she knows I "more or less" know what I'm doing. I've saved a fortune over the years, doing my own color!

I used to color my hair at home but now that platinum highlights are in my gray is that color so I just have a small amount in dark brown & a lighter brown. She also colors my eyebrows. I only go about every 5 to 6 weeks . I have let my hair grow & I am amazed how much easier it is to take care of! I am watching Menapouse Taylor and what great information! Thanks 🙏🏻

I think it looks great you did a good job. In school they taught us at our place to highlight the front last because it usually turns the fastest, so you could start with the lower part of your head it might give you a better blend after. I love your tip to cover grey as I am getting more and need to change up the way I do it. Thanks and I'm impressed with how blended your hair looks, especially in the back.

Really appreciate your attention to detail and the excellent result you got out of a box.

One thing that I like to do after I've highlighted my hair using bleach is to color all the hair using a very light blonde demipermanent color. I add 1 - 2 oz. of water to dilute it, and I leave it on for only about seven minutes. I like this toning method because it's gentle and conditioning on my hair.

This was great. I saw a hairdresser do the same and start at the middle part, but then she did around her face (part down to ears on each side, because that's where most people have & see the most grey) before she did the 1/4 inch sections and it worked nicely. Nice job, your hair always looks beautiful!

Speaking of hair. Per Angie's recommendation I ordered (and it was on sale) the Colleen Rothschild Quench & shine restorative hair mask collection. It included the mask, a spray leave in conditioner and a brush for the shower for your hair when you put on the mask. I used it for the first time this morning just as a regular conditioner. OMG what a difference my hair is after only one use. So soft and silky with no flyaway hairs. My hair is mid-length. I have been using also per Angie's recommendation the Briogeo Kale +Apple Shampoo and Conditioner which I love, but the Colleen Rothschild is a better conditioner than the Briogeo conditioner, which is good. Rats I have so much of the Briogeo conditioner left. It lasts so much longer than the Shampoo which goes quickly.

Your so right the first two weeks after a visit to my salon it’s so pretty, then here they start coming in again. Dividing the hair in 4 quadrants helps keep partings clean and the color off previously colored hair. Also a Demi glaze toner is nice to finish off with and can neutralises any brassiness in blondes.

I do it the way you do but I wrap my highlights in foil to protect my eyes and skin. Great video.
After 20 yrs coloring my hair, hairdresser could not get the grey covered anymore. I would have it dyed and have to go back a week later to do it again. She tried changing products but that didn't work. I ordered the eSalon color and loved it. Not only did it cover the gray perfectly but I preferred the nice golden blonde color. As you mentioned, the hair feels so nice after you use eSalon color. they also provide shampoo and conditioner. I believe the shampoo and conditioner may have something to do with how nice my hair feels afterwards. I can't believe you pay $300 to get your hair done! Whoa!I do my roots myself then have my hairdresser do it the next time because I have a hard time doing my entire head. Esalon is very easy to work with.

Thank you Angie. This video is just what I needed. I have failed so many times when I try to do the foils myself.... or the cap... And you're so right about the cost. I save my pennies, and only go a couple or three times a year's because it is SO expensive. My lady does my roots and then she balayages it with a few foils and it looks gorgeous and lasts a LONG time as she makes it so you really can't see the gray growing out for months, but the price tag...ouch! Anyway, your hair looks so good. Cannot wait to try this.

Ann Beverly yeah, I gave up on dying my hair darker & merge the little grey I have with blonde highlights. The grey I like actually 😎

      @debbicardwell3082 5 років тому

@@sharroon7574 I use Clarol dark blonde #7 N all over. Dry and then used Loreal highlight kit and sometimes used foil pieces. Or I just did top layers with the finger tip applicator and place where I wanted the lighter strands to be. Always works.

I decided to quit covering my gray (about 80%) and just work with it instead. So I now forego putting any kind of base color down, and just highlight and lowlight the gray. The results are beautiful, and since I never have a demarcation line, I can go 8 or 9 weeks.

I ended up being allergic to color after many many years. I've gone natural and I have some nice white streaks that look like they were done on purpose. I've had a lot of people ask me who does my hair and I just say Mother Nature.

Same here. At 62, coloring for at least 30+ years, quit coloring cold turkey a little over a year ago, with long hair. I'm sooooo happy that I stopped, my hair looks like a professional bayaloge. Everywhere I go, lots of compliments, and don't have to worry about every 2 weeks roots, time, damage to hair. I'm loving it! !!!

I just did my roots with eSalon! My stylist is awesome, and the color came out looking pretty great (dark blonde 7.0). Stylist tweaked the color for the next application (added Pearl to reduce brassiness). I'm excited to move on to the next step and add some more highlights with the Loreal kit you use. Wish me luck!

Good job Angie! I’m all for doing it yourself and saving money! I color my roots every 3 weeks. Also, I read Menopause Taylor’s book last year. So much good information! I also recommend The Estrogen Window. I believe she mentions it in her book and definitely on her channel. Lots of information out there and everyone should empower themselves with it to make the best decisions for themselves.
