KX3 on VP2M-Montserrat Mini-DXpedition with Buddies in the Caribbean - Part II

The"Buddies in the Caribbean" mini-DXpedition group is off to VP2M (Montserrat) April 8-16th, 2012 with a new group of operators who have never experienced the "other side of a pileup"! We will have two of the new Elecraft KX3's (Ser#23and #24) with us! We believe this will be the first DXpedition using the new KX3 radio!
Because of severe baggage limits on the Antigua to Monserrat flight (one bag under 50 lbs!), we will be limited to 100 watt or less low power radios and the Buddipole portable antenna systems. Yet our goal is to demonstrate "ultralite" dxpeditioning into magnificent "vista" locations, operating field portable, battery-only KX3 radios with backpackable, lightweight antennas and most of all "having fun" on the "volcano isle".
The eight operators are: Budd/VP2MFF (W3FF), Guy/VP2MUN (N7UN), Paul/VP2MVO(KB9AVO), Larry/VP2MLR (W7DGP), Russ/VP2MQR (N7QR), Tom/VP2MTM (K2GSJ), and Chris/VP2MYZ (N2YYZ). There will be several Gingerbread Villa stations inoperation on 160-10m using CW, SSB, and RTTY or PSK. At the same time, several teams will be battery-only, field portable either from Montserrat beaches or scenic mountain tops with the KX3 and signing callsign/p.

Got so confused... saw your VFO said 14027 on the top and 14025 on the bottom and you're sending UP 2 then I finally noticed - I'm so used to WORKING DX, I forgot what it looks like to BE DX! haha hope you guys had fun! Looks like a dream come true

The Buddipole the parrot was on seemed like it had a shock corded whip on the left side and on the right side (where the parrot was) looked like two Buddipole arms attached to the Versa Tee followed by a possible shock corded whip. Was that what it was?
First time seeing the adjustable shock corded whip, very cool!!

Since details on interfacing to the KX3 are still being developed, could Guy (N7UN), post a description of his hookup for CW keying and Rig Control via N1MM? I assume the KX3 USB cable was used for Rig Control, and a second USB to Serial Adapter was used for CW Keying via one of the control lines on that adapter. Also what chipset was used for USB/Serial adapter on the keying cable?

I don't think Guy was actually controlling the KX3 in terms of mode, freq, band etc but just keying the KX3 via his USB-adapter ...but I could be wrong? We'll soon know once he gets back I'll ask him and remind him to post a dwg of circuit. I want same myself!

The Delica monopod has a 1/4-20 stud. The Versatee is a 1/2 inch pipe thread. How do the two mate together?
Versatee has (3) 3/8"-24 connection points ...so a 1/4-20 to 3/8"-24 adapter (commonly available) allows the Versatee to be used vertically to attach to monopod (mast)
