It's good to have he said. Lifesteal can only go up to 3% basically, which is really great, but compared to Life on Hit, it's not as good. In some situations it can be, but Life on Hit doesn't have a limit. You can have 1100 life on hist, 2000 life on hit, etc etc. Which is a HUGE amount of health given back per hit, so in those high number situations with life on hit, it can be better than life steal.
Kripp, I just want to say I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. It has really helped me with my playing. And I also appreciate your positive attitude. I've seen by some of your last videos that you are disappointed with end game but you still keep trying to enjoy the game for what it was meant to be and you don't whine and complain. Does anyone remember when people used to grind and grind to find a certain item? Or spending hours in trading games trying to find the perfect item? Kinda sucks to see so many players saying "Just get it on the AH", how is that fun? I know the drop rates are buffed on console but seriously, if your not having fun with the game, just don't play it..
really enjoyed the video krip, got my barb to 60 the other day and with around 12 mill or so he is sitting pretty nicely geared, now to just farm enough to slowly start building up to where you have yours at to really start having some fun
In 1.0.5 the modifier for life / hit will come down to 0.08 from 0.2. So this might be a problem for people with low life on hit. You would need a bit more than double the value you had until now but i recommend mixing 900 loh with at least 3% lifesteal for a good heal
Can't thank you enough for this video. I rerolled to a barb and managed to get up to 41k dps unbuffed while still having a good amount of AR with a 2mil budget.
I think Krip has slightly modified the spec for his gear. The spec pretty much needs Battle Rage with Into the Fray. You'll do a lot better when you add that. When your rage gets to an epic point you'll also want to switch out Slaughter for Thrive on Chaos for Wrath of the Berserker as it will keep you in form running like a speed demon almost 100% of the time.
I was in EXACTLY the same position as you, transitioning between builds. Now I am clearing Act 3 easily and although I did regear a bit my stats are pretty much the same as yours. The major difference was how I played. The trick is to realize the damage comes from tornadoes not from WWm WW is just to pass through the mobs. So rather than sprint and WW in the pack of mobs I sprint, WW THRU the mobs and let them chase through the tornadoes until my LoH brings me to full life then I repeat.
Agreed. I am switching to a mighty weapon for just that purpose. Less hitting but more fury. And then it all depends on where you farm, Skycrown and Core both have great places to keep Wrath going. Still happens alot that I end up with one elite with desecrator and arcane where I run out of Fury and die lol. But that hasn't got anything to do with my build/gear, but everything with poor skills haha :P Good to hear you got it working!
You may have noticed that D3 is super gear dependant. I finally have this build working for me where I can clear Act 3 quickly and cleanly. I went from dying and not being able to do it to clean runs and the only real difference came in getting slightly more life steal / life on hit and the damage to back it up. Saying "the only thing I'm missing is life steal and damage" is saying a lot. If you don't have life steal and high dps try doubling your LoH and that should do the trick.
Battle Cry / Into the Fray: "while under the effect of battle cry crits have a chance to generate an additional 15 fury" Basicaly that is all there is to it. Battle Cry > place 4 tornadoes and wait for fury. It's all about the placement and to know when to use whirlwind. If you just keep spinning while you are not making enough crits, you run out. Just start of by running around mobs and placing 4 tornadoes, and not spin into them.
It started by him and Krippi killing Azmodan and Diablo on Inferno HC for some rich guys who wanted them for the achievements. Kripp's cut was 200 mil out of that. He bought a few ridiculous items with that (basically geared himself fully), and farmed with those. After that, he's sold the items he's found now and before. The current gear is probably around 400 mil used in the GAH.

Yes, I beat inferno with 1H + Shield cause my allres was low at that time. But I can tell you, the +15% attack speed increase makes a HUGE difference. You don't want your survivability to come from HP and Allres. You want it to come from healing. I have 2300 LoH and 500 Allres, and the only way I die is if I do something really stupid like let Battle Rage fall off.
You can do full act3 clear in under an hour ? You should define the Kripparian act3 contest. For example: get 5 stacks, then kill Ghom, Sb, Queen, Azmodan and kill every champ packs in the way. And you have to be as fast as possible. I am pretty sure I can beat your time.
Just made this build. FYI. Most important thing is CRIT chance. You need at least 40%+ to really start kicking ass. IF you have below 40%, ur always going to be fury starved. GL!

So I'm giving this spec a try. My gear previously was based around a frenzy-revenge build. Luckily I'm part of the way there I have a decent amount of crit at around 46% (although 10% of that is from my shield) although my crit damage is only around 230%. The problem is I don't have life on hit. I got a couple of crappy weapon with LoH and a drop of a band of hallowed whispers that I can equip to get my LoH up to 1200 but it drops my dps down to 17k and my crit down to 36% buffed.
get gold find gear, and go a3 nightmare, choose the heart of sin kill azmodan quest and take rakkis crossing waypoint *not sure if thats the exact wp but you want to spawn on the bridge and go back tot he open land* clear everything there, go to arreat crater lvl 1 and make your way to core of arreat, a DH is best for this, if you're using a dh get passive : tac tical advantage and wtv you want rest, vault tumble, bat companion, multi shot fire at will and preparation back up plan
No problem, this spec is a lot more fun when you get it to work I know ;) It's a matter of practise indeed, I am still not perfect at it. Sucks when you run out of mobs and fury on elites. And there are quite a few viable different spell set-ups around the core spec. What helped me to practise if you have problems with mobs running and scattering out of the tornadoes: Cold damage on a main-hand weapon slows them down quite a bit. Keeps them in the tornadoes longer, meaning more crits + fury :)
What would you say are the baseline stats you should strive for to make this build work? so damage, crit chance, crit damage and haste, and how much survivability do you need (health, armor, resist all)? Would be good to know before I go dumping all my gold on the AH to find that the end product isn't viable after all.
Never say its impossible. I had the same feeling but I've worked at farming act 1 until I got some decent gear to throw up on the AH. Given time I've gotten up to 3mil. I flux between 1.5 and 3mil depending on when I decide to upgrade my gear. Grinding is hard but it does pay off big sometimes.

Battle rage with into the fray, this makes some of your crits give you 15 fury, and because the sprint whirlwinds tick every half second you are critting alot, making it almost impossible to not be at full fury
If you want to know how to make gold. Sell materials on the AH. The most expensive part about his gear is his gems. The gear itself is very cost effective for what it is. Most certainly not the best gear in the game but it is effective and Krip is a great guy to observe and copy as a role model.
Yeah I tried it some more on act 3 and I think i have more of a handle on it. I think I was just using WW to much, basically spamming it even after I had passed by the mobs. I just got a new awesome main hand on AH, a steal for 5 mil. Its 895 dps mace with 100 vital 250 LoH and 98% Crit Damage. My offhand is a low 510 dps weapon with 600 LoH socketed with 300 LoH for 900 total. I do use the berzerk with the last-forever rune and that makes a huge difference for the fury generation.
now i see what is wrong, the build you link to has ignore pain with mob rule rune, instead of battle rage with into the frey.... which is pretty mandatory for ww to work
Hey man love the videos, I know its not really your class but... Would it be possible to do a video detailing Witch Doctor gear. I'm having a hard time gearing out that class. I have 53k dps, which is not too high so I started doing a tanky pet control build with freeze and stun on hit. But I am not sure how thats going to work. If you have any suggestions or advice as to whats good as a WD I could sure use it.
kirpparian U are My Idol. The value of the knowledge from ur vid is just too much, with few extra mil I spent into my gears , I now easily smashing act2-3-4
@Kripparrian My question is does it make more sense to use my Frenzy-revenge build to slow-farm act 3 in like 3-4 hours or does it make more sense to equip some LoH gear drop my dps significantly and go sprint-WW farm act 1 much faster, say an hour. I tried the WW spec in act 3 and my dps is too low to make it that viable and I die on occasion on champs.
my barb works perfect atm, i dont kill trash mobs too quickly, and the champs go down pretty quickly.... i noticed that having as much dps as krip might not be an advantage in terms of keeping wrath up... The best thing i can reccomend is Tyrael's armor, its expensive, but my god its great

I also used the thrive on chaos rune at first. When I gave the slaughter rune a try I was very suprised at how quickly i annihilated elite packs even in act 3 wven with my base 40k dps. I swear they die in about 6 seconds with Berzerk with slaughter its insane. The again looking at your spec I think my crit is substantially higher, like 46% base rather than 36% and I bet that makes a very big difference both with damage (Slaughter procs on crit) and with fury generation.
Kripparrian or others do you find this build more viable than tank? I tried it and I had fun but I couldn't stop dying. Does it become worth it once you get high tiered gear?
I forgot to mention the nerf on War Cry [ Impunity ], they will take this down to 20% bonus resist from the initial 50%. I recommend using War Cry with Invigorate if you'll have problems with survivability
Simple. If you aren't fury starved then maces or axes will get you 10% crit from weapon mastery which will both up your damage and ensure you will never run out of fury. If you ARE fury starved because your crit is too low sometimes that 10% crit will make the difference but sometimes if your crit is really low you will do better with a mighty weapon and the 3 fury gain. Bottom line mace or axe is better, mighty weapon is a crutch if you are fury starved.
36% critt works for me to farm act 2. You can buy cheal offhand with about 600 LoH and it should work. I have crappy dagger with 700 loh and 100 vita for offhand. What is ure main hand weapon? You could try to buy some cheap high dps weapon with no stats jsut with about 50% critt chance. Also Wrath of berzeker rune that regenerates itself is 2 imba for my opinion i can sustain perma berzerk with just kiting with dusts from sprint.
You're situation sounds exactly like mine. I made like 12mil flipping items on the AH, like 7mil from drops, and 5mil from gold drops. Holding 4mil atm because all upgrades are 10mil+.
You could spend like 2 milions and you have a 30k dps barb.. wich is enough for start in my opinion. And a lot more fun than 15k dps tanky builds.. Do what he says, look for gear that has only one primary stat where you can't afford it, eg: str + all res instead of str + vit +all res. Great videos Kripparrian!
Do you have a build or what kind of weapons for barb in HC? I am stuck farming in Act3 Hell because I'm undergeared in Inferno and don't want my barb to die since he is the only char that I have that can get gold.

I just made a barb using this build and was lookign 4 some feedback i have 53 crit chance, 387 crit dmg, 1600 loh but only 25k helth, and 550 All resist. did i over do the loh and crit chance and shoul di focus more on defence?
I would like to know how the hell i can't pull this thing off.. My defensive stats is basically the same as yours, same hp, same resists, almost the same armor & loh - and yet i get squashed like a bug.. the only real difference is i'm missing the life steal and my dmg is significantly lower.. so is it the dmg/ll ratio that does the trick in terms of surviving or what?
i just don't get it, how do u get so much fury when you attack, when i attack mobs it takes 2 secs then im out of fury, and im using the exact spec that you are, the items are a bit worse... what is the main thing needed for getting the fury you need ?
everytime i finished watching an upload from kripparrian i get the most exciting feeling to play diablo3, i launch it and start to grind, then 25min after im bored to hell. explain pls :(
36% crit, some life on hit and enough all resist to not get one shot (~300 unbuffed should be enough). Thats enough to get started and not run out of fury immediatly.

its fun when it works ... haveing probs geting the fury for it, and not to safe to cicle arund mobs and get hit. shileds works kinda nice 2 with str + crit think i got like 163 str 8.5% crit on mine..

No, people are just hitting a lot harder than they used to, which Blizzard knew was going to happen eventually. As for going "full offense" Kripp, maybe for Barbs, but as a Monk I get rolled by stuff still at ~750 Res, 7-8k Armor, 37k HP. : (
Yea man... but for a week I managed to find pretty nice gear... only the good weapons are missing... 1550 STR, 1350 vit, 7500 armor (buffed), 35 K dps (the next goal)... act 2 farming is fun... for 6 hours one stash of 6 items unidentified... but act 3 and 4, only with my tank build
But let's say that you have 100K damage. You'd definitely just want to go for 3% life steal. Mostly because it's cheaper and because 3% of 100K is 3000, so that's 3000 life per hit basically.

Works very well on bosses. You are looking to "trap" the bosses with the Sprint tornados to maximize the dmg.

Would you say gearing for a dps monk would be fairly similar? At least weapon wise? Or more LoH since we don't have life steal belts?

It's all up to your gear, but i'd say in a1 you can go with 4 and still faceroll. a3-4 requires a lot of allresist and experience with the build.

I see most barbs have a fast off hand but kripparrian says it doesn't matter, does a fast offhand make ur ww tick faster? Thus more log ticks?
with haste krip means increased attack speed, or attack speed %
If i have Life on hit on my offhand, would it be proccing on sprint? If it uses only main hand damage

I forgot to mention the nerf on War Cry [ Impunity ], they will take this down to 20% bonus resist from the initial 50%. I recommend using War Cry with Invigorate if you'll have problems with survivability

Do you think using a shield with crit hit chance would work if you can't afford 2 weapons?
Simple. If you aren't fury starved then maces or axes will get you 10% crit from weapon mastery which will both up your damage and ensure you will never run out of fury. If you ARE fury starved because your crit is too low sometimes that 10% crit will make the difference but sometimes if your crit is really low you will do better with a mighty weapon and the 3 fury gain. Bottom line mace or axe is better, mighty weapon is a crutch if you are fury starved.
36% critt works for me to farm act 2. You can buy cheal offhand with about 600 LoH and it should work. I have crappy dagger with 700 loh and 100 vita for offhand. What is ure main hand weapon? You could try to buy some cheap high dps weapon with no stats jsut with about 50% critt chance.
Also Wrath of berzeker rune that regenerates itself is 2 imba for my opinion i can sustain perma berzerk with just kiting with dusts from sprint.

You're situation sounds exactly like mine. I made like 12mil flipping items on the AH, like 7mil from drops, and 5mil from gold drops. Holding 4mil atm because all upgrades are 10mil+.

You could spend like 2 milions and you have a 30k dps barb.. wich is enough for start in my opinion. And a lot more fun than 15k dps tanky builds.. Do what he says, look for gear that has only one primary stat where you can't afford it, eg: str + all res instead of str + vit +all res.

I am stuck farming in Act3 Hell because I'm undergeared in Inferno and don't want my barb to die since he is the only char that I have that can get gold.

I just made a barb using this build and was lookign 4 some feedback
i have 53 crit chance, 387 crit dmg, 1600 loh but only 25k helth, and 550 All resist.
did i over do the loh and crit chance and shoul di focus more on defence?
I would like to know how the hell i can't pull this thing off.. My defensive stats is basically the same as yours, same hp, same resists, almost the same armor & loh - and yet i get squashed like a bug.. the only real difference is i'm missing the life steal and my dmg is significantly lower.. so is it the dmg/ll ratio that does the trick in terms of surviving or what?
i just don't get it, how do u get so much fury when you attack, when i attack mobs it takes 2 secs then im out of fury, and im using the exact spec that you are, the items are a bit worse... what is the main thing needed for getting the fury you need ?

I WW barb is good only with pasive abilities so if you have tank gear just make pasive and add one offhand and you are ok :D

36% crit, some life on hit and enough all resist to not get one shot (~300 unbuffed should be enough). Thats enough to get started and not run out of fury immediatly.

You should get to around at least 35k hp and 1100-1200 loh is more then enough if you improove your allresist to 7-800+.
A simple weapon 1000+ dps with strengh vitality and one gems is good? Don't need Loh etc...? (I don't speak english :D)
Would you mind spending a little time to help me? I went from a frenzy/revenge barb able to farm a2 with ease (clearing inferno but farm act2 the fastest) to your exact WW spec. I die a lot more than I ever have... I Really don't know what I can do differently... I am low on gold to really make any big changes.. 42k hp, 43k dps (buffed) 700 res (buffed) 500 life on hit, 36% crit chance, 278 crit dmg

its fun when it works ... haveing probs geting the fury for it, and not to safe to cicle arund mobs and get hit. shileds works kinda nice 2 with str + crit think i got like 163 str 8.5% crit on mine..
With 50mil i bought enough good gear for my WW Barb, and its no problem to do solo act1-4.
I play in 4 group too and its really easy.

No, people are just hitting a lot harder than they used to, which Blizzard knew was going to happen eventually.
As for going "full offense" Kripp, maybe for Barbs, but as a Monk I get rolled by stuff still at ~750 Res, 7-8k Armor, 37k HP.

Yea man... but for a week I managed to find pretty nice gear... only the good weapons are missing... 1550 STR, 1350 vit, 7500 armor (buffed), 35 K dps (the next goal)... act 2 farming is fun... for 6 hours one stash of 6 items unidentified... but act 3 and 4, only with my tank build
But let's say that you have 100K damage. You'd definitely just want to go for 3% life steal. Mostly because it's cheaper and because 3% of 100K is 3000, so that's 3000 life per hit basically.
What the heck krip you are way too awesome. Your dps build has more tank stats than my tank build! I've but 130 hours into it, hbu?
