It's believed Kitty actually lied about not showing up to the wedding to make Puss feel better and so she'd have the chance to call out his ego. 'cause she was genuinely mad about the entire situation, so it'd make sense if she did go but decided not to hold it against Puss and instead take the chance to address a valuable lesson about him being too full of himself.
It honestly surprises me how few reactors get this understanding from that scene. I read it exactly how you did bc she was way too mad at Puss for like half the movie to have not actually been stood up. I also think bc she was so mad earlier she didn't know how to say she forgave him without letting him know that she heard him with Perrito, so she lied about not showing up.
@@LooseAsADEUCE Exactly! The movie wouldn't make her so angry and sad at him for no reason. She literally went on the entire journey to make a wish so she could have someone to TRUST, it's pretty easy to figure out
Personally, I think she's exactly the type to hold it over Puss's head even if she really wasn't there, and I do believe when she says she knew she couldn't compete with his ego. That said, I don't think you can take her words at face value, the truth is likely somewhere in between.
While I would like to believe this, if you look it up, there is proof in the official artbook for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, that confirms Kitty didn't go to the wedding either. So maybe a flaw with the writers, or Kitty found out Puss didn't show up either and took offense to it, being a little hypocritical. No one's perfect and Kitty can certainly have her moody moments with her impatience and such
I'm not sure if you've seen it, but the channel Savage Books has a video called "How the Last Wish Solves Its Insane Character Equation" that talks in detail about the different character types like what you mentioned.
What about the video from Gab Art and Film where they deeply analyze the three villains in the way you describe them. Jack Horner- the Power Hungry Monster Goldilocks- the Sympathetic Mirror Death- The Force of Nature
Death is just so great, one of if not the best DreamWorks antagonist ever. I like how, at the start, Puss was bragging about having "never been touched by a blade." So the moment Death was actually able to cut him, Puss became a scared, anxious mess. It's the moment he realized he's not invincible after all.
And then Kitty touches him with her gatito blade too! There's actually _alot_ of parallels between Kitty and Death, and how Puss impacts/is impacted by both of them.
Death is definitely one of the best DreamWorks villains man. He was so cool and intimidating. Plus Jack Horner was a very good villain too, he was funny and he's arsenal of fairytale weapons are fun.
I know, right? I've only seen the first two "Shrek" films; I'm not a hug fan of the franchise... but then I heard so much praise for this, I went to see it. I'm SO glad I did!
I never understood the Shrek franchise until much later in my life. So, this film for me was a refreshing way to see the franchise in a brand new light.
I believe Big Jack is meant to be a personification of Disney. Incredibly wealthy but still always seeking more, approprating fairy tales/magic items for personal gain, etc.
It’s crazy how even over a year and a half later this movie is still getting praise and people just now reacting to it. And rightfully so! It’s already such a modern classic!
What's really interesting is that the map change for the characters is to represent that they don't need the wish. They are being selfish with what they have, and thus, the star is creating impossible challenges to reach it. Or it is creating obstacles the user has and trying to convince them they have it too good to not need a star. That's why Perrito's journey is so much easier: he knows he has a good life even with the bad he went through. It's such genius storytelling!
As an adoptee, I like goldilocks's story. A lot of international adoptions have that amount of unknowns and I think the message is to not take for granted what you've have. If the family was bad then it's good she's with the bears, and if it was good, then they'd be happy she'd found a good home
when goldi's reading the book inside the cabin... beside the page where she "vandalized" the picture... look at every first letter of the page beside it. its the little details!!!
Death is one of the most well designed and intimidating characters I've seen in an animated movie. I never expected a Puss in Boots movie to go so hard.
The Opening Is Amazing there so Many Small Details you can See! Death is seen in the Crowd in the Giant Fight The Bell The Giant Used Ringed 7 or 8 times! Dreamworks really said when making Death "Eh, a little terror is good for kids, it'll toughen them up." I didn't get the chance to see it in theaters but from what I heard a bunch of kids found Death so scary that they cried.
You always surprise me in all of your reactions of anything when you have those moments of insight like at 33:22. It's a joy to watch your videos. You aren't afraid to laugh, to cry, to share how you feel and it's awesome.
I'm a straight guy and it's Death's fault that I'm a furry. I just couldn't wrap my head around how much of a badass this wolf dude was. The moment I left the theater I started thinking of how to dress up as him for Halloween and scare the crap out of trick-or-treaters. Then I discovered Helluva Boss later that year and Loona was the more traditional "Oh shit, she's hot!" furry awakening, as it is.
my 2023 was spent brain-rotting over him & also Rauru from the latest zelda. just two highly attractive, elusive, spiritually powerful 6-7 ft tall furry men
Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it yet but I love the fact that you can see Death watching Puss in the crowd of people when he’s fighting the giant, literally saw it on my 4th rewatch 😭😭
I had to foster my brother's 3 cats once, and the 2 girls were pregnant (surprise!). Had 13 cats in my house at once and I loved those chaotic babies ♡♡. Got all of them fixed, vaxxed, and adopted eventually. Took about 8 months, but I wanted to make sure they had good social skills ready to go. I still laugh about Venti, the runt of the litter. So tiny but big attitude. I kept my baby boy, Latte from then too.♡♡
Cool fact I keep seeing shared around, if you look at the first letter of every line of the fairy tale book Goldie looks at, it spells out 'You already have it'.
Wait I just realized the different locations the forest has for puss in boots. The fire lands, which reflects his personality as arrogant and fierce. Then the crystals which shows the change in his soul. It's him reflecting on his lives and becoming fearful.
im glad that they still included things from the first puss in boots film, like kitty and also have references like the walking on each others feet to gain height thing
Fun fact, but many speculate that Jack Horner specifically represents Disney. Due to the fact that the objects he has are all from Disney films in concept, like his bag being “A nanny’s bag” and or Mary Poppin’s bag. Then he wants to have all the magic in the world for himself, just like how Disney is taking over and away all of the magic in the world in a sense. How he gets bigger and bigger. Then of course how he’s regarded as an irredeemable monster. There are several other connections, however I don’t recall what they were and I think this gets the point across generally anyway. Also to answer the Death villain question, I would say that yes, he is something of a villain. He is acting out of malice and actively breaking his own rules as the embodiment of death, it is stated in the film itself even, however the points you stated are true as his goal or reason as to why, being angry of Puss disregarding how sacred and worth while life is, that he doesn’t care despite being of a lucky species with multiple.
I would call Death an antagonist, yet not a villain, simply because he does antagonize Puss, but his reason for hunting him isn't villainous, and in the end not only is his point made - but Puss redeems himself in Death's eyes. When next they meet, Puss will welcome him as a friend to take him to a much better life.
Praise you for looking after homeless kitties :) Glad you have seen the last wish excellent film i think it is potentially the best of the franchise tough between this and shrek 2
The references to death the whole time are so cool. Like every single scene. Even the gold on the eyes is a tradition for the dead. Typically greek so they have something to give Charon for passage into the underworld
iirc death was animated on 2s and everything else was on 3s (with some of the action-y shots done on 4s depending how ''rough'' they were), to make death seem 'supernaturally fast', which i think slaps so hard.
As always, your analysis was thoughtful and spot-on. I was also late to the party on this movie (watched it for the first time this past weekend), and was stunned by how good it was even with all of the praise I knew it had gotten. Much like the first time I saw Pacific Rim, I kept waiting for all the plates that were spinning to crash, but they never did and The Last Wish absolutely stuck the landing. And agreed, Death was a phenomenal antagonist (not a villain) for Puss, and exactly the foil he needed. Fun fact that Death was voiced by Wagner Moura, aka Pablo Escobar in Narcos. Cheers! And best of luck taking care of those cats; you're doing great work.
Watching people react to this movie is one of my favourite things on the planet, because this film is INCREDIBLE. I put off watching it for the longest time because I saw the memes and clips and was just like "it's just another Puss in Boots movie, it's probably not *that* good" When I finally sat down to watch it my expectations were pretty low, but once I saw that amazing sequence with the giant and the variable frame rate and the dynamic camera angles oh man I was so pissed at myself for waiting so long to watch it. This movie is a genuine masterpiece; it's so kinetic and expressive and I love love LOVE it to pieces.
the fourth shrek movie, i adORE so much, i think it really has rewatchability, and i love just shrek and fiona's love story in that one, it made me feel things for sure 😭
40:40 Maybe they have already said it but the reason why the Wolf hates Puss is because he was a privileged person who threw away a unique gift which is his nine lives. And considering what the Wolf is it makes sense that he would be “angry”.
Someone said it really well...that Death really isn't an antagonist in the sense that he's evil. He's writing a wrong he thinks he sees in Puss in Boots flaunting his lives. The minute he proves that he's willing to take and cherish the life he's given...Death has no need to chase him. Hubris. That's what Death was chasing...and the minute he lost that cloak, he lost Death's hunger. Fantastic work.
There is theory that kitty really DID show up to the wedding, but she just lied about it to puss because she overheard how guilty he felt about it. she was genuinely angry with him about santa coloma earlier in the movie so i think she was there to be abandoned and hurt, but after overhearing his conversation with perrito she forgave him and didn't want to make a big deal out of it when he brought it up
38:42. Totally Cody said in his reaction for that particular scene, the dog’s mouth needs to wash with Bath and Body Works branded soap and I agree with that statement.
50:00 I love this film and enjoyed your reaction to it. However, I’m not gonna lie when I say that reference was the biggest surprise of the video for me. One of my personal favorite anime shows. 👌🏾
49:24 Except everyone does get their wish when you look at it. Even Jack Horner, 'all the magic too myself and none for everyone else' , Death 'respect of Puss' and the theives at the start 'weight in gold'
I totally agree with your thoughts during the fight with the giant. The West is finally figuring out that different animation styles and direction can be just as good (if not better) than every generic animated movie that Hollywood pushes out. Though it's taken a lot longer than I would have liked...better late than never I guess. Anyways! Thank you for your commentary and reaction!
“ My compliments to your cobbler. ( Nasal laugh ) -el Lobo Very entertaining reaction, Bromigo. Thanks for the laughs. Keep on keeping on and Gritos from Tejas. “… (whistles) …”
The bag is Mary Poppin's bag, hence the "It's a magic nanny bag!" The phoenix healed all the Bakers. A Baker's Dozen is 13, Gary died, and in the next scene, they're exactly 12. Three get turned into confetti during that fight and at the canyon there are nine. Eight to make the "bridge" and one driver. That the phoenix healed them can be seen in that when Jack flicks The Ethical Bug he loses a leg and a wing, that's the reason he flies in on the phoenix at the end, you can even see that he only has three legs. When you then see him again he comes flying into the scene and has four legs. The only thing that happened in the interim was that he was in contact with the phoenix. Jack used the phoenix to heal the injured men since injured men slow you down a lot more than dead men do.
Pocket Full of Posies: A practice in the Middle Ages of having a pouch of dried herbs on you to make the world smell less bad. Became really popular during The Plague since it helped with the stench of the dead. River of Relaxation: Most likely The River Styx. Field of Quick and Easy Solutions. In modern culture, suicide is in an ironic sense considered a "quick and easy solution." Perrito's map is so dark if you know what the names represent.
13:48: welcome to your future :p This film is a fantastic example of what happens when you embrace the animated medium for itself, rather than trying to make it look and feel like live action, or remove everything that makes it unique. You can do things with this medium (both 2d and 3d) that you *cannot * do with anything else, and it's SO GOOD to see Western mainstream catching up to that idea. Like, lots of fantastic animation has been around for a long time, not saying it hasn't! But we're finally seeing animated shows and movies that aren't just hidden in a corner on the internet, or just for kids. (Yes this is a "kid's movie" but like most good stories, it can resonate with anyone.) It just makes me happy to see. ANYWAY, I love so much about this film, The layers of symbolism, the care given to the details, the story itself, the music, the light, the colours... I'll shush now, but UGH it's so good! I want to gnaw on it. :D
I totally love the Puss n' Boots movies, but this one is the best one. I really liked this one more than most of the Shrek movies. The dynamics of this movie were so well done. The growth of this movie was so well written
I’m still skeptical about the position of the map and goldilocks during the final battle, she could’ve grab the map and save baby bear at the same time I wished they storyboard it where the map is a little bit far away from her to strengthen the scene more
I absolutely agree with your point about goldie but with the time they had I think they made the most out of her story but if it was her own movie I feel like your points would have been the full story
I lived this reaction to one of my favorite animation movies. You should definitely watch Shrek 4 because its incredible. Please consider starting a reaction series to the show Nikita from 2011
Enjoyed his reactions. Love death, most awesome, badass and cool villain ever. I bet death secretly saved and spared perrito... You should watch and make a reaction video of dungeons and dragons honor among thieves, very good action, adventure comedy

If you go back and check the moment that Puss first dies (in the film), you can actually see Death in the background. It's nuts.
Also when he's counting off his deaths, you can see him on the edges of the number cards

Took me until 27:45 to remember that the voice actor for the dog is also voicing Vassago in the up coming Helluva Boss episodes :D
Same voice actor voiced Odie in the New Garfield Movie too.

What's really interesting is that the map change for the characters is to represent that they don't need the wish. They are being selfish with what they have, and thus, the star is creating impossible challenges to reach it. Or it is creating obstacles the user has and trying to convince them they have it too good to not need a star.

Almost makes me wonder what would’ve happened if Jack Horner grabbed the map, like what that would’ve looked like😅

Wagner Moura is such a cool Brazilian actor, I was so happy to know he dubs the wolf.
50:00 I love this film and enjoyed your reaction to it. However, I’m not gonna lie when I say that reference was the biggest surprise of the video for me. One of my personal favorite anime shows. 👌🏾

Except everyone does get their wish when you look at it.
Even Jack Horner, 'all the magic too myself and none for everyone else' , Death 'respect of Puss' and the theives at the start 'weight in gold'
The swearing part was pure gold
I totally agree with your thoughts during the fight with the giant. The West is finally figuring out that different animation styles and direction can be just as good (if not better) than every generic animated movie that Hollywood pushes out. Though it's taken a lot longer than I would have liked...better late than never I guess.
Anyways! Thank you for your commentary and reaction!
You know who Death-Wolf reminds me of, Omni?
My favorite Yu Yu Hakusho/Togashi antagonist...Toguro
“ My compliments to your cobbler. ( Nasal laugh )
-el Lobo
Very entertaining reaction, Bromigo. Thanks for the laughs. Keep on keeping on and Gritos from Tejas.
“… (whistles) …”
Kitten Mittons, you’ll be smitten!
😂😂😂
The bag is Mary Poppin's bag, hence the "It's a magic nanny bag!"
The phoenix healed all the Bakers.
Lets go I was recommending this for a long time
Pocket Full of Posies: A practice in the Middle Ages of having a pouch of dried herbs on you to make the world smell less bad. Became really popular during The Plague since it helped with the stench of the dead.
River of Relaxation: Most likely The River Styx.
Field of Quick and Easy Solutions. In modern culture, suicide is in an ironic sense considered a "quick and easy solution."
Perrito's map is so dark if you know what the names represent.
59:40 there’s a glitch and video jumps backwards to the start of the review
This thing is a cinematic masterpiece.
13:48: welcome to your future :p
This film is a fantastic example of what happens when you embrace the animated medium for itself, rather than trying to make it look and feel like live action, or remove everything that makes it unique.
Puss In Boots and Kitty SoftPaws and Perrito are my favorites character in the movie
Hooray!

4:35 BATMAN! 😁
I still don’t know why dreamworks didn’t release any merch for Death lol he was one of the best villains in recent years!
SERIOUSLY, I'm so shocked he doesn't have any merch! They could've made so much money, he's incredibly well loved
one of the best movies in modern times. even though it did have like a ton of references it really is a fairy tale told in modern times.
one of my favorite movies for sure!!
14:14 ill name that one sean short for jacksepticeye
I totally love the Puss n' Boots movies, but this one is the best one. I really liked this one more than most of the Shrek movies. The dynamics of this movie were so well done. The growth of this movie was so well written
i love this movie sfm you have no idea, omni
10:35 .......saame

36:17 Go watch the first Puss In Boots film
Love this movie so much!!!
Wagner Moura as Death is a blessing.
Death might be one of the best animated villains of all time
I’m still skeptical about the position of the map and goldilocks during the final battle, she could’ve grab the map and save baby bear at the same time I wished they storyboard it where the map is a little bit far away from her to strengthen the scene more
Your next dreamworld reactions should definitely be Rise of The Guardians if you haven’t done it already!
The Shikon Jewel!! Hell yes!
Oh wow I thought you already reacted to this amazing ankmated movie ❤❤
OMFG I wanna see these kittens now lol
thanks God, you just saved my lunch :D
I absolutely agree with your point about goldie but with the time they had I think they made the most out of her story but if it was her own movie I feel like your points would have been the full story
I lived this reaction to one of my favorite animation movies. You should definitely watch Shrek 4 because its incredible. Please consider starting a reaction series to the show Nikita from 2011
Enjoyed his reactions. Love death, most awesome, badass and cool villain ever. I bet death secretly saved and spared perrito... You should watch and make a reaction video of dungeons and dragons honor among thieves, very good action, adventure comedy
this movie was unnecessarily good, it came out of no where, served, and just disappeared like am icon
Dude has 81 cat lives in his house🤣!!!
Я обожнюю дивитися з тобою мультфільми!)
Omni is a cat lady with millions cats now? Damn
