Great video! I was born in Nagasaki and this is my mother’s hometown (I’m 1/2 Japanese). My mother who lives with me here in the US, is a “hibakusha” (atomic bomb survivor) and I just visited the museum last November after not visiting Nagasaki for 35 years. It was amazing visiting after so long and more beautiful than I remembered. I am taking my 19 year old daughter to Japan this summer for the first time and I can’t wait for her to experience part of her family culture and heritage.
oh wow. thank you so much for sharing your family's story with me! Nagasaki is truly such a special place. I was not expecting to be as moved as I was. Not just after visiting the museum, but the overall vibe of the area just made me feel so at peace. the trip you have planned with your daughter sounds incredible! I hope you both have an amazing trip. thanks again for taking the time to reach out and leave a note!
What a wonderful way for me to re-live and document this trip. What a great start to a 5week adventure that you and I will definitely do again. And, YES, I agree Nagasaki was a BIG surprise, what a wonderful city with an important historical background.
Thanks for sharing! Nagasaki is definitely one of my favourite city on the 4 main islands by far! Originally, I went there to witness its legacy as one of Japan’s leading centre of international commerce for roughly 4 centuries. But, it was the scenery and quaintness that touched heart! Part of the city gives off such nostalgic vibe, it feels as if I were in the 70s/80s of a major East Asian city. Nagasaki and the rest of Kyushu are absolutely on top of my list when I visit Japan again. Tokyo and Osaka will be kept to a minimum.
Wow 28 days?!?? That’s amazing! I hope you have the best time. This initial set of Japan vlogs was filmed the month of December. The weather was amazing.
Wow, it looks like to have a great 5 week adventure ahead of you with your dad. My great-grandfather emigrated from Yamaguchi prefecture to Hawaii in 1882, and I'm from San Jose. I have been retired in Okinawa for almost 4 years. Covid has slowed down my traveling , but we are back making domestic trips with a possible California trip this year. Don't forget to add Okinawa to your travel agenda! Take care
Okinawa is definitely on my list! That’s so amazing you’re now living there. Thank you so much for sharing part of your family’s history and for taking the time to watch my video. I appreciate it!
Im studying abroad there for about 5 months. Ive been so nervous and anxious because ive never been oit of the country and Japan can be so different from the US. Seeing how much you enjoyed your stay there has made me so excited and has taken some anxiety away. Thank you!!
oh wow. five months? what an incredible opportunity! congratulations! I'm so excited for you. Japan is definitely different than the US but I've never felt safer in a country. People are also very helpful! & I'm not sure about your level of Japanese language skills but Google Translate will be your best friend! lol it's not always 100% correct but you or the person you're trying to speak to will get the gist. I'm so glad you found my videos. Thank you for taking the time to leave a note! Wishing you the best as you embark on this new adventure! :)
Last time we were in Nagasaki, we went to midnight mass on Christmas Eve at Oura Church. Even though we aren’t that religions, it was quite magical just because of the history of the church and the kind people who sat next to us and could tell we were visitors. They made us feel so welcomed.
Other than walking, was it easy to get around? Our cruise will be at the port for a day and we are thinking of taking the tram, unless you think taxis might be okay to take? So far, I know we’d like to go to the atomic bomb museum and explore around Glover Park maybe. thank you for your videos. They’re really good!
Either the railway or taxi would be fine! Railway was the easiest to navigate. We struggled a bit with the buses because unlike bigger cities a lot of the names were in Japanese characters only. I hope this was helpful! I’m excited for you to experience Nagasaki! I hope you have an amazing time.
i didn't but it was on my list!! we needed at least one more day in Nagasaki to make it happen. i'm excited for you and your upcoming trip! i hope you have so much fun.
I wouldn't necessarily say that! There's definitely major attractions to visit but Nagasaki in general isn't as big as other major cities in Japan. It's more small town vibes. I think the most popular attractions are the Peace Memorial Museum and Park, Glover Garden, Chinatown and Huis Ten Bosch. Although on the smaller side, Nagasaki is one of my favorite places to visit in Japan. I don't know how to explain it but the slowed down pace and peaceful energy of the area is
i'm American! I was born in Japan but adopted and raised in Los Angeles :) I'm excited to keep learning more about my birth country and will keep sharing as I go. I hope you enjoyed the video! Have a great day.

Just bring back my nice memory at Nagasaki. Weather, food and vibes just perfect. Not bussy vibes as Tokyo.
right?? Nagasaki is so underrated! I can't wait to go back there one day.
where is hotel ? how much for day ? can you give me more details , thank you 🙏
Crowne Plaza Nagasaki Gloverhill and when we went it was 12,581 JPY per night!
