    Usually, I shy away from vlog-style travel reports, as they are overtly sensationalist. This video is an exception to the rule. Your easy-going demeanor, the steady flow of useful information and great imagery have been a joy to observe. Please continue vlogging that way, I really enjoy it!

    Hi Remi, I completely agree with you about not needing to choose all the places to eat ahead of time. When we visited Japan last year, we ate so well, except maybe at a family restaurant. We would just walk up to a restaurant, check the menu, avoided places with a big lineup, and the food and service turned out amazing.

    We're choicing Kanazawa over Osaka / Kyoto to avoid the massive number of tourists. A lot of up market hotels and retailers moving into this area which tells me its going to take off.
    Having the bullet train station helps and that will extend to Kyoto one day

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  2 дні тому

      Kanazawa is a wonderful alternative to Kyoto. You'll get a really nice mix of historical and modern design there. Plus, like you said, it's currently wayyyy less crowded than Osaka/Kyoto. I hope you enjoy your time there! :)

    What an informative video. How did you manage your luggage travelling from city to city every couple days? Did you use the takkyubin?
    I will be travelling with a 3 year old in the late spring period to Kyoto/Osaka. It would be amazing if I could visit there too.

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  2 дні тому +1

      I'm glad you found it helpful! We used a luggage delivery service a couple of times. On this trip, we used Yamato Transport but you can read more about luggage delivery services in this blog post: lifestylebyremi.com/japan-luggage-delivery-service-luggagent/
      Keep in mind that depending on where you're sending your luggage, it may take a day or two to get to you. When that's the case, make sure you keep enough with you to cover the days you don't have your oversized luggage.

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  Рік тому

      It's a bit too far for a day trip from Kyoto. You'll spend more time traveling and will feel rushed once you get there. I've heard of people making the day trip from Tokyo though! I hope this helps.

    Why don't you revisit Kanazawa. Many tourist spots are currently less crowded due to rumors of earthquake damage. (almost no damage actually)
    You should try Kanazawa's own best miso ramen instead of Sapporo's, available at Taiga, which is just 200 meters from Kanazawa Station.

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  Рік тому +1

      It’s mostly two prong outlets in Japan! I’ve found that most hotel rooms have one (sometimes two) three prong. So if you need multiple I’d get an adapter. I hope this helps!

      Thank you for this excellent video. We are planning a trip to Japan next month. We want to visit Kanazawa for two nights. My wife is Japanese and from Yokohama but has never been to Kanazawa. You showed and explained several really important things to know than no one else shared. That we could get a hotel room with a washing machine, that there is a bus that goes a circle route around the city and it is reasonable. I also love that you travel with your father. Too many of these travel video’s pretend that they are traveling alone. Thanks again and Cheers!

    Why are you wearing mask??????

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  Рік тому +7

      This video was filmed when the government still required masks in Japan. But masks are nothing new in Japan. Japanese people wear masks for multiple other reasons like allergies (Japanese people are prone to hay fever in the spring), when they have a cold (as a courtesy to prevent spreading germs to others especially on public transportation), to keep their faces warm, etc. As of March 2023, masks are no longer required but you’ll still see lots of masks worn. I still wear my mask sometimes on trains and outside because my allergies are horrible in the spring! I hope this helps provide some context to masks in Japan!
