They are meant for ambient noise in a public space that can get loud, like a subway, airport, convent hall, just loud places in general with ambient noise

Noise cancelling is such a gimmick. A wired pair of Audio Technica ATH M50X with an amp is all u need if you want to blow your eardrums apart. The Bluetooth version lasts 80 hours on battery but loose some oomph. But allow you to hardwire them when u aren't on the move and having a cord isnt an issue sitting.
