As a recently retired E-2C NFO who flew lots and lots of pilot training missions, this interview brought back many happy/funny/scary memories. Well done, gentlemen.
Loved this video I was an enlisted AT-2 aircrewman in the E2 withVAW-124 on USS America 1975 - 1978. Very interesting to hear what was going on up in the cockpit while we worked away in the back of the plane. I sat in the first seat and operated the radar and radios and directed A6s, A7s and others to various surface and air contacts. Had 222 traps, all safe and sound thanks to the pilots up front. I’m anxious to read your book!
Wow, great interview. Learned a lot about the E-2C, and Wombat seems like a really cool guy. I got to land (as a passenger) on the Kitty Hawk in the back of a C-2, and a cat shot to fly back to Kunsan (Korea), when I was flying F-16s there. Great fun!
Wombat I miss my friend Lt. Ned Metcalf. Such a great individual in high school. He was the best. I wish there was a discussion of the accident in 1991 of the two E-2's that had a mid-air.
@@Aircrewinterview listen mate this is a seriously good channel. I'm not even a aero geek (although there's nothing wrong in that) but your channels content over the time you've been streaming is first class
It would be super interesting to hear some of the Global eye. Really find it to be cool alternative to some of the smaller airforces. So much a force multiplyer.
Is there an AWACS/AEW type that is not ugly or makes an airframe uglier due to the radar additions? BAe Nimrod AEW3, Fairy Gannet and IAI Phalcon, I'm looking at you guys especially! Great interview as usual.
Air crew comfort is the only reason I wouldn’t want the hawkeye. With in flight refueling where are you gonna go to the bathroom if you’re up there for 8-10 hrs.

Go Wombat! I learned about you from Mover's channel. Read your book. Keep rocking it!
The flyby story was awesome! Great story teller. Felt like we were standing there on the deck watching.
I didn't know the engines were that powerful. It makes sense given the need to fly and land with just one. Interesting interview.
You let him talk. What a great interview. The secret to a great interview... just let'em talk. 👍👍
Thank you.
Wombat is an amazing person. Thanks for the interview.
Pitching Deck is an amazing episode.
Superb interview, great to hear about something other than fast jets, a VERY interesting aircraft indeed!
Cheers Iain.
