  • Todd Tuckey projects an early Ray Harryhausen animated "3 Dimensional" cartoon from 1946--one of his first solo efforts. This ten minute film is on 16mm IB dyd Transfer TECHNICOLOR stock. This print was struck for free library and public school use. The public could borrow the films just like library boos with a library card. Teachers at schools could look through a catalog and order films to run in their classes for their students. Older folks like myself would remember when the teacher would roll in a projector, because we knew we would be watching a film instead of a chalkboard!. 16mm IB Technicolor prints ceased production in 1970 and 35mm Movie Theater Technicolor ceased in 1973 because of the huge cost to make--almost three times the money!
This print is now sold...thanks for the interest!

Jason and the argonauts was the first Harryhausen I watched (with my dad). The skeleton fight, is still regarded as one of the best learning tools, for stop animation.
And then you drop this on us Todd. You do have a few aces up your sleeve sir.

Thanks for sharing this! I love Harryhousen films. Have all the Sinbad's on 16mm plus Jason & the Argonauts and 3 worlds of Gulliver. But none with as good color as yours! Didn't know this existed. Was fun to watch! Have a great day & stay safe!

Stop motion animation is really neat. Too bad so few movies today are stop motion. I guess it's just too expensive to make now. Thanks for sharing this film with us.

They're making a sequel to Chicken Run. Aardman is the only studio still making stop-motion that I know of.

That's awesome. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad was one of my favorite films as a kid. Love RHH.

OMG!!! I wish I was still collecting 16mm, I'd be getting that. The color looked great with no fade. I was hoping you would show your projection room. What kind of a projector are you using?

Stop motion with real physical objects has such a great feel to it. I dont like most CGI.
