- In this one we have to catch chickens in order to get a shed ready for some cattle. Our John Deere 3200 gets a well deserved birthday with a brand new set of tyres, however, we have to fit them!
See how we get on swinging on the end of some tyres leavers.
I hope you enjoy it.

I know it's a bit late now, but my technique is to put the wheel on the floor and drop the tyre on from above, then when fitting the second side you need someone heavy to stand on the tyre to press down and keep it into the well opposite to where you are using the levers to get the last bit on.
Great move to catch chickens in the dark on the roost best way .
Hope you get better soon.😊
Makes it a hell of a lot easier! I was really expecting them to give us the run around but they were fairly straight forward 👍
I never thought I was an addict........but I was defo craving a video from baldy's farm!! Keep it up loving it.
Thanks Sean! I appreciate you taking the time to watch them. 👍
Nice new shoes for the JD.
She’s a beauty now! 👍
Hi James Nice one Thanks again
Cheers Darran! 👍
nice video, good tyres
A great video
when i was growing up nothing was new on the farm i was adopted to lol family joke lol
when i took the farm over was an auction sale lol i moved into a modern time now lol as to tires on the tractor i will buy them in 3 years and put a new set in use tire prices are great plus i have the new tires on the tractor too even the tractor 5 year they gone off the farm to leave someone other them I have to repairs down the road to have
They are great tyre leavers I’ve had mine for years, but you were struggling to get the tyre on because you didn’t push the bead down into the middle of the wheel, at least that was what was showing on the video. Great videos though always looking forward to seeing them 👍
Yeh noticed that when watching it back. Got there in the end. Tyre levers we’re great, it’s a lot easier when you have something you can use to get some leverage on.
The music whilst changing the tyre, can you tell me what it is? Brill vid by the way. 👍
I still don’t get why you emptied the shed James, or am I missing something, great video as always mate 👍🏻
Ahh well… all will become very clear very soon. Maybe even this week!
Good video no wonder you have a sore back think I would have insisted on free fitting or no sale 🙂
Can’t get the fitters! We used to have a couple of companies locally but not anymore.
@@baldysfarm that's a shame
Great video, how many hours labour did the tyre change use up?
Thanks Gareth! Honestly, probably took best part of 10 labour hours to do it. It’s was about £200 per corner cheaper to do them ourselves as we don’t have any ag tyre fitters ablut these day. Plenty for lorries but the local ag tyre dealers packed up years ago.
What variety of herbal ley do you recommend?
Thinking of direct drilling into grassland in May after first cut and mowing and round bailing for cattle after that.
We always used Hurrells seeds - Heavy land herbal ley mix. It’s a great mix but includes grasses. If you speak to then they would do you a mixture the same but not include the grasses. 👍 we’ve had great success with it. 👍
@@baldysfarm did you lightly cultivate land before drilling?
We’ve tried all sorts tbh. Direct drilling, under sowing and stitching in. All have worked but undersowing into barley and peas forage crop worked the best and that was cultivated. As long as you get some moisture, you will be okay no matter what you do.
Please tell me, in true farmer style, you kept the old tyres as spares...? And you put the new tyre leavers somewhere safe... never to be seen again 😉
Well… let’s just say they haven’t left the yard yet 😂
Christ if you buy a set of 4 most companies fit for free. Michelin do free finance too?
Bought them from the local tractor dealer. Don’t have any tyre companies locally anymore. Non of them can get fitters.
