Hi Gabriel, I'm sure you're one of the few people who could recognize Alan Watts on that mural there. Have you ever read any of his books on Zen Buddhism and philosophy? I have and really liked it. A lot of those people I really admire, especially Einstein, Spinoza, Lao Tzu, Rumi, Carl Sagan and Thoreau.
Yes, read some of his books years ago. I like his style.

My first job was in Redondo Beach in the marina. I grew up in Torrance in the 90's as a teenager. Now I live in the valley.
It has been warm with cool nights. Last month was very cold. @14:55 it was cool that guy was singing karaoke "Close to you" from Maxi Priest. I love that song!

Very cool. I went to Venice High back in the 70's. Spent a lot of time going from Venice to Santa Monica looking for good waves and fun along the way. Much has changed, but the vibe seems to remain the same.

@@theodore9274 yeah tbh our winters are much milder than yours. Our summers too 😆 yeah there's a lot of nice countryside, London is pretty unique and not like the rest of the country at all. I guess you could say the same for NYC and the rest of the US

I lived in Venice in the late 70s. It was the end of an era way back then. Used to be soooooo cool. There were funky little jazz clubs and cute little bars. People left their front doors open and people would be jamming. Those were the days! Now it's too commercial and dumpy.
I love it when Gabriel do some vlogs about his country, I'm from Malta, Europe and i wish to visit the US one day it looks amazing!
I visited Venice beach for the first time back in October 2021🤙🏽. It’s so much I still need to explore all over the great state of California.

@@PauloGaetathe_original Baghdad, the Kurdistan region, and most other major cities are perfectly safe for foreigners. I have 7 of my American friends have already visited Baghdad and they’ve enjoyed it so much
I'm glad that they kicked out all of the homeless/squatters because it looked like crap for a long while. I hope that those people get the help that they need, society is such a crazy trip right now..

Still a shadow of it's former self people can't afford to run any shop there anymore and the magic has just gone the homeless is the least of that areas problems.

That's not Abraham Lincoln, btw, it's Henry David Thoreau. ;-) Under Einstein is Friedrich Nietzsche, and next to him is W.E.B. Du Bois. The woman in between Sagan and Tesla is Emily Dickinson, I believe, but I don't know the one under her - Betsy Ross, maybe? Well, hope that helps - have to put that liberal arts/English degree to work somehow!

I have a tradition that the final day of every one of my American holidays is spent at Venice Beach. Flights to Sydney usually leave late in the evening from LAX so i'm just killing time until departure. It's a great final scene to end a holiday.

We visited LA in 1996 as we had family living in Venice beach it was amazing jogging there late afternoons.
Also i wanted to play baskeball there and i did after I saw the movie "white men can't jump " which was filmed in Venice beach.
I was 6 or 7 years old in that year and my parents also took me there from latvia, however not sure if it was 1996 or a bit later
Hi Gabriel, Venice beach is one of the most famous beaches in the USA yet when you go to Daytona beach they are a huge sign saying the world's most famous beach I guess it's really known for car racing. Yet in Venice Beach LA it has its famous venue bodybuilding culture people like Arnold Schwarzenegger Franco Colombu and Dave Draper who appeared in the Monkees show back in the '60s and other well-known bodybuilders. Also, notice a sport popularized by Tony Hawk "Birdman" skateboarding and these people are crazy doing those tricks without any helmets or pads easy way to break some bones. You do have a Venice beach in Flordia it's more like a hippy town laid-back place not as what's happening in LA.

After watching a bunch of videos of yours it’s nice to see something I can actually relate too. I came here in July of 2021 and also rented a bike. I started at Venice Beach and biked down to Santa Monica pier and back down. It was a great day and an even better week. Unfortunately there was some kind of spill, I think sewage when I was there so I had to go down to Huntington Beach to surf and swim. Still a great time though and an awesome beach. You were right about what you said, in the summer the competition is ridiculous

GABE what's up! Funny thing I walked passed by that same Burt Reynolds wall art back in December 1st last year.2021 with KevTV a friend. Also saw that mural with Tesla and all. We parked a block up the street. Venice beach and The Santa Monica Pier had been on my bucket list for years. I had been to LA twice before but had never ventured over there. Nice taste of the scene and thanks.

Kind of a scruffy area of L.A. Tacky shops selling knick knacks and dodgy food.
Although, I like the palm trees.
RE pickle ball. the ball is deflated and it's a not so solid wooden paddle which works well on the smaller court.
Gabe, Any thoughts yet on a more longer term next destination for you? Have fun in Mexico but this destination is a tad saturated after two years of Covid forcing seemingly all You Tube vloggers there . How about some of the Mediterranean islands like Sardinia, Corsice, Cyprus and Malta, for instance?
