That is an unusual bike review, and I mean that in a good way. I feel I know more about the r12 9t after watching your review than all the others put together.
Thanks for a good honest review. Its nice to see a review from someone that does not spend his life at the track, or gets tainted by manufactures on trips to Spain or Portugal. BMW pricing is a bit out of control, So I wont be getting an 12R Nine T, but its got me thinking for my second bike to look through the classifieds for a pre-owned R Nine T ? Be good to see a back to back review on them.
Gorgeous bike. Can't really understand the £2.5k price gap to the R12 or having less power than the RNineT. I have my eye on a 719 RNine T that's a few years old, save a packet. BTW watching you at 6:00 I thought you were going to be a ''no life crisis motorcyclist' doing that manoeuvre around that car that had no way of seeing you coming up behind it.
Thanks for flagging, on reflection you're right and it was probably a tad impulsive of me. You do right to call it out so appreciate the spirit of that. My main goal of any ride is to return home and all that... Anyway. Agreed on the rest, though looking at NineT values they seem to hold up pretty well and there's no such thing as a cheap one, seemingly. Am guessing the power thing is a Euro5+ thing in which case losing 1hp is probably least of it. But, yes, like you I think I'd be happy enough saving (some) cash with an OG NineT. I believe it is mainly due to the EURO5 nonsense that kept this new bike tuned down. However, I believe once you turn Dynamic ride mode on, the bike becomes either the same or better than the previous model. I had the previous one and the new one is smoother on Road mode, but a lot crazier in Dynamic!
You know what, I actually think they don't do wonders for the proportions in this case as they make the front end look taller. Or these ones do, at least. Quality items for sure and I appreciate the intent. But just not sure they quite work. Also make filtering tricky, given the bars are already quite wide. Not sure if they'd work in an 'under bar' position but that might be better? Hope you like the bike, by the way. Hats off for money where mouth is!

How did you get on with the bar end mirrors . I have a R12 Nine T and thinking of changing the mirrors.

@@David-i2g2v Functionally absolutely fine, the extra width notwithstanding. Aesthetics are, of course, a personal thing!
