Yes, it is safe to swim in the entire Adriatic Sea and enjoy a peaceful mind. The only potential danger is accidentally stepping on a sea urchin.
Of course there living Sharks. But not really often. It's possible also to find the great White on the Adriatic Sea.
But the Population of them are very very low. So, no Problem to swim there. Very safe.
Last deadly Shark Attack in Croatian Adriatic Sea was 1974.
A German Tourist lost his Leg by a Shark Attack and bleeding out on the Sea near by Omiš.

Like Australia, Florida, South Africa, Red Sea by Egypt and etc.
Have been on 2 shark conservation trips to look for Great Whites.We came across none despite many hours of chumming with Sardines.Had the occasional Blue Shark.From what i gather the Adriatic was a 'Hotspot' for Great Whites and attacks were quite frequent many Decades ago.But the Adriatic is now one of the most degraded seas in the world.
