I think one of the best points for the X's, is having both HDMI In and Out... This make these usable with many other VTX systems and in the future having the possibility to share the FPV with others real time... I already placed an order for them...
I’ve been rocking the vrx mod on my sky04x since it came out. I’ve switched all my quads over to wlksnl and after just now seeing the price of the goggles X I’m sold. Time to upgrade
Just solder power button on power cable. Easy thing to do and it is the same for the goggle as pulling power cable off. The positive thing here is that power jack will tear down less. Or if you are uncomfortable with modifying provided cable, just build your own with power button.
A Voice of honesty and reason, that is good to hear instead of one bias claim after anther from so many others....it's DJI or nothing...we now hear a comparison of facts to show WS Avatar is just as good and probably better in over all experience Thank You. As I do not own any HD system I am strictly analog, but and if I were to go HD after researching, WS would be the system of choice . And as far as latency most people do not notice latency in simple recreational flying unless it is extreme, which most are not in my opinion...if any is worse it is DJI
Thanks for the vid! Cheers. I do wish you had touched on the analog support with latency and your experience vs the HDzero goggles. A hdzero vrx HDMI in test to the walksnail would have been good too. I'm beyond frustrated with analog on HDZERO and the hdzero whooplite boards breaking on me; I'm considering giving up on hdzero.
@@CorruptName1 3 vtx's (1x whoop and 2x whooplite) broke within 3 hours of flight (each) over grass with no major crashes. Maybe its bad luck but, I'm not spending another 60 bucks to find out. I figured I would give the new v3 race board a shot before jumping away. But, this wouldn't solve my analog issues as well. The newest firmware is causing problems with signal where I have to go into the fusion menu after plugging in the quad to make video display. Plus the fusion doesn't sit correctly in the module bay where pressing the menu button on the fusion presses the two fusion boards apart. I have to glue crap inside the module to hold the fusion in place better.
This release is a great timing for me. I've decided to try walksnail with my last build by buying just the VRX and connecting them to my EV200D. It was so good that I then also bought the Rotor Riot Vision40 for the whoop season ❄ So obviously I'm in now. Love the developments and approach. Thanks for your review!
We need a fitment comparison from someone who put on the goggles 2 and instantly felt extreme nose bridge pain like I did. I sent my goggles 2 back for a refund it was so bad. Also I noticed walksnails image still seemed a bit smeary vs o3 maybe they can fix that in an upcoming firmware.
As far as fitment goes, at first the dji goggles 2 were very uncomfortable but, the 1080p visual goodness bombarding my eyes made it worth it. The new fabric and foam comfort fit faceplate from dji solved all of the fitment issues for me. My skyzone o4x goggles fit the best out of the box, I'm still using the original Sharkbyte VRX with them
Hey Chris, thank you for all of your videos you have made over time. I just bought these Googles X after seeing your video... I have had so far in 8 flights, 4 crashes. The googles video feed just stops in flight, googles shows green/pink colors in stribes and then black screen. UI is dead, only sign of life is the blower noise. Recorded video on googles is faulty. This is bad. So I found out that, when I lower my head to much and aim at the immortal crossfire antenna om my TX16S, the Avatar Googles X goes into this crash mode. Again and again. Only way out is power off/on. When Crossfire transmit at 250mW or more and the antenna points upwards and I look downwards, this jamming incident happens to freaky easy. Just a question about distance, even on 25mW. I zip tied the immortal to the handel, that helped a bit. I wonder if ELRS will do the same, what do you think? I hope this will help others with the same issue. .
Hello. You have an excellent channel with detailed technical testing of equipment. Thanks for your channel. I was very surprised that you did not test the AV input and HDMI input of the new glasses as well as other reviewers. - There is information from other reviewers that at the moment the HDMI input of the new glasses does not work correctly, the image has the wrong color, which makes the image unreadable. (it is not clear whether caddx will be able to fix this with software). - And also that the AV input has a large delay (around 100ms), which makes these glasses unsuitable for flying a quadcopter through an analog receiver. - In addition, these glasses cannot record DVR for analog input and HDMI input. - The HDMI input and output are heavily recessed into the housing, which prevents the use of almost all HDMI cables. - The quality of the plastic molding is very low, so much so that the inscriptions next to the input/output ports are almost unreadable. The wear resistance of such plastic is a concern. - I am concerned about the question of what resolution and what frame rate the glasses can produce through the HDMI output, as well as what resolution and what frame rate the glasses can receive through the HDMI input and show to the user. Because if this output or output is 1080@25fps, then it's pretty sad and useless for some use cases. What do you say about this? For what reasons did you not conduct tests of image delays through AV and HDMI inputs, because these are very real user cases of use? CADDX have already released several updates for the new glasses, but still have not fixed the problems listed above. The question arises whether they will be able to fix the above problems at all. Based on apparent problems like this among end users, the manufacturer has a huge problem testing their products. Maybe CADDX considers its fans and early buyers beta testers?
Please, try a latency test using external hdzero vrx and analogue input. And compare the results with same tests on HDzero goggles. That would be the final latency comparison! 😎
I own goggles v2 and couple of vistas and analog builds using uruav adapter via av-in. What should be the advice fam? Should I keep the stuff and carry on or sell this and move to walksnail? Please advice.
I've purchased avatar X today.. Still i have to sell the old avatar goggles (sigh i love them 😢) For my personal choice, micro quads from 2 to 3 inches, analog and digital too, just one set of goggles is the way to go.. Is just huge the fact i've spent more on fatshark avatar while on sale than this set 😮
Can't really talk about fit & ergonomics without talking about whether you can get the corner-to-corner clear focus on the screens... I'm particularly interested in this since the goggles say 50 deg FOV and previously most/all slimline goggles that had wide FOV's were very hard or impossible to get in focus corner-to-corner.
I’m hoping that that issue was more of a problem with the old style “insert your diopter lens” goggles…Iv heard from friends that the newer optic modules with built in diopter adjustments are far better. Mine are on order so I guess we’ll see
So I have a question I was looking to upgrade my goggles. But my whole Fleet is analog so could you connect a a/v analog module to this which module does anyone recommend and can you connect it with no issues or how do you modify it
Always a pleasure, your vids, exept the ones that blow/fry my brain. Thank you for sharing they could be my next buy but that would only be to remove the hdmi in from hdzero and make it lighter alsoo i think i would be able to see the full screen edges the fov . cheers have a good one.
Hi Chris, it would be awesome if you included a link to the original video files from the DVR as UA-cam destroys the quality, plus, this video is at 30fps. Cheers
I recently tried on DJI 2 in a Showroom and they were Tiny like a Child Toy to my Big Viking Head. I have never Held the V2.. What is your take on the V2 for Fitment in this Comparison? Thanks.
I have avatar and DJI Googles 2 - and I am so sad that walksnail isn't better at fixing the smearing on the ground. It still looks bad in both examples. :(
Yeah. For the quality to be so poor and ultra-compressed, they must be lying about the true bitrate of the VTX (like they lie about the output power). A 25Mb or even 12Mb stream should look superior to the kind of quality we’re seeing.
Chris thank you very much for this review and work! Is it possible that you have inverted the avatar 1080p100 25 with 50mbit ? maybe I'm wrong but I wanted to tell you
I have seen on another channel that parts of the screen cannot be seen like the DJI Goggle 2. Blurred edges etc. And they pinch off your nose. You mention none of this? I see this product being another DJI G2 release where everyone says they are great, you spend your money and get punched in the nose when you get them and try to use them. I have 2 sets of Avatar Goggles now and they fit great and no screen issues. I'll wait for the feedback once they get into the hands of the masses! I prefer the fit of the HD Zero goggle the best!
I understand why they want to lock 1080@100 to the new goggles but honestly the new goggles are such a good price I don’t think they need to worry about people just buying the old ones instead of the new
Are the hdzero goggles running a walksnail vrx capable of delivering the new 1080p 100fps footage? If not what resolutions and fps can you get out of the hdzero goggles running a walksnail vrx?
Fantastic review and testing, Chris! 😃 The only 2 things left, in my opinion, are an analog module bay (perhaps replacing the LED panels) and the DVR to record AV in, for analog. Other than that, I only need to save some money. 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
My brand new goggles X keeps crashing - UI and buttons lock up after 10 to 20 minutes (ie warmed up) FPV feed still plays in background - another 10 or so minutes and video feed locks up too. Once warmed up it does this every 2 or 3 minutes. Im in the UK - does anyone know where i can get help sorting this issue or replacing these ?
Its a shame Caddx didn't do 2x RX and 2x TX antenna setup on this new goggle. I feel like that's a benefit more than a drawback to have it setup like DJI? anyone have any insight into this?

Feels like we’re moving into endless upgrade/refresh cycles.
Sounds great, however I wish Caddx had used people with noses as a reference when they designed the goggles :-)
