    I learned the hard way when you bury electrical wires it’s best to run them in conduit even if the wire says it doesn’t have it’s advisable especially when there’s rocks like you have crossing the driveway it only takes one halfway sharp rock to cut the wire and then it starts shorting out causing you problems that’s my experience and opinion buddy thanks for sharing I’m sure this is going to be really nice especially when it’s raining or something you don’t have to get out and open the gates

    To keep from crushing the gate tubing when mounting the arm to the gate I used a piece of chain link 1 7/8 pole cut it in half and sandwiched the the gate tubing then mounted the gate hardware. Has been working great for the last 7 years.

  • @rice0009
    @rice0009 Рік тому +3

    One suggestion I have seen is to mount the gear box end of the arm a little bit higher than the gate end of the arm. This will tend to direct rain water off the end of the arm rather than it tending to flow back into the mechanics of the arm. I've seen people having to open the arms up and remove water from the mechanisms.

    Something to note for further trouble shooting problems in the future.
    A lot of sound Equipment uses those green Euro Connectors. I have used them since they were invented and most of the Trouble I have experienced that the screw terminals do not stay tight especially with changing temps.
    Come back in a few months and check them. Even the Factory ones. I always hated seeing Equipment come in with them
    You could saved even more money just using a single gang outdoor Box for the Slave Drive.
    Thank Tony.

    thanks. this was really helpful. I'm in the midst of installing these on my driveway gate. (28 years of getting out to open the gate was long enough...) One question I had was that the bottom of the control panel only has the three openings. One has the cord going out for power and the other two are for the gate control wire, right? I purchased the wand sensor that has to be wired into the control panel also, but it doesn't look like the openings are wide enough for two wires, especially with the little water protection cover. Have you had to run two wires into any of those openings?
