Damn dude. I thought I must've destroyed my spindle, and just had to get towed home, then thanks to finally finding your video, I am pretty sure I can just replace my bearings, but my wheel was nowhere near leaning like yours. It was still rolling straight. Sort of. Thanks for making this video though. I could not find the 2wd version or anyone who was pressing the races themselves.
Yeah, they want us to buy the whole hub these days. I've been packing bearings longer than these kids @ the parts store have been alive, thanks to my grandpa and uncle.
After researching specifications numerous of times, I’ve gathered 180ft/lbs was true, changed mine on my 98 rwd, and 20 miles down the road, heard a noise, pulled up and absolutely smoked the new bearing, cherry red and melted the center cap on my wheels. Thanks for the video, changing it out again tomorrow, 20 ft/lbs 😅
Definitely can. However, the bearings in it won't last long. Just replaced the hubs and bearings less than a year ago.. and now one of my bearings already failed 😠
Yes you can. In fact, most of the parts stores try to sell the hub/bearing together. Be wary of the torque specs they give you though. I think it's like 180 ft. lbs. or some crazy crap like that. It'll burn your truck down if you're not careful.
I noticed no one is changing the inner bearing race that is on the spindle. Is it too difficult? I thought it would have the wear of all the miles still.
Yeah, he didn't seem to sure about that. Definitely 2nd gen and should be applicable to '94-'02 Ram 1500. Third gen started in '03. But I'm not sure about changes made during 2nd gens.
