Meryl Streep as Florence Foster Jenkins - Queen of the Night aria (complete)

  • The purpose of uploading this video is to share Meryl Streep's incredible artistry in and as "Florence Foster Jenkins" with as many people as possible.
It is worth noting that the music was NOT pre-recorded. In other words, Meryl Streep sang "live" as the cameras were rolling. That makes her performance all the more remarkable! (The piano was also played "live" by the actor.)
An edited version of her performance of this aria is included towards the end of the film. See this and you will wish it had been included in its entirety!
Better still, see the movie or buy it on DVD or Blu-ray...which contains this as well as many other extras.
    Enjoy!

That people think that's an apt comparison shows how little the general public knows about opera. Maybe acting, too. Meryl Streep is a successful actress with many excellent performances to her credit, but talk of her versatility is oversold, and she's often just decent with a reputation that no longer gets scrutinized. Diana Damrau, though, represents the ultimate zenith of what the human voice can achieve. She is not just several but many steps above Meryl Streep in comparison of the achievements of the two in their respective arts.
