Kyle, please put up your in-depth video on the GLE 450e ASAP... Your range test was amazing, and I'd like to hear the rest of your take on the vehicle.
It really is magical to watch a couple of guys share their first docking experience.
🤦🏻♂️

This is why I spec tons of bollards
What is the cost for a bollard, including installation?
@@Harrythehun pretty variable
@@brandenflasch No ballpark?
Is a bollard going to stop an out of control vehicle going 30 mph?
@@TechnicalLee depends on the bollar
I was not much of a ev car liker, but this Chanel has made me more of a ev nerd so thank you Kyle!
I was just amazed to see that ChargePoint charger at a fueling station. Imagine that, installing EV refueling equipment at a place where people go to refuel their cars.... 🤯
Everyone has a different take, but I can't imagine paying 47¢/kWh. I pay just 6.8¢/kWh at home with my 11.5 kW charger and it's free at work. 47¢ would make it more expensive than driving our 15 year old gas Rav4.
Supercharging is a service, a service that costs money. It is totally okay to avoid the service if not needed.
Depends on your electric rate. Our rates in Massachusetts homes are around 35 cents per kwh. I'm basically breaking even compared to my Mazda 3 that got 35 mpg. I'm getting around 10 cents per mile on both cars when gas is 3.50 a gallon. But I'm driving the model y performance so it's not a fair comparison. Lol I do have a 10kw solar on my roof but even with that during the winter months we still have some bills. We typically don't have any bills from April to October since electricity is our only utility bill and we have mini splits for heating and colling. Eventually our electric rates should be basically free once we get off our buts and install enough solar to run the country on renewables like other countries are doing. USA is just so slow. We used to want to be the best now we are the worst at just about everything. Lol
It's for road tripping primarily. Some people don't have a gas car, or don't have home charging.
If you could bring your home with you across the country, then that would be valid...
@@GregMcNamer we road trip with our Duramax and 7700 lb RV. At about 30¢/mi. Not far off from a Rivian charging at 47¢/kWh while not towing.
Wow !! Some day off, after cars and coffee!! So glad you could come see!! Hope see you at the show durning the summer! It's usually hoppin!! Unless I'm on a road trip haha!! Shocking with that charger situation, I just went there checking out the charger and it was being used with bolts now it's damaged !! LOL!!
I had the “occupied” error in Alexandria, MN on Wednesday. The app also had a few errors before I got it going. The Magic Dock in Monticello has also seemingly had a few issues as well. Seems they’re working out some bugs.
Don’t see the reason the magic dock was developed. Tesla already had a solution in Europe (before they switched to ccs ), and that was to have two cables on a supercharger. They had that years ago, o facilitate old Tesla’s and the new ccs Tesla’s
@kyleconner so do you often start the chargers before you plug in or do you prefer to plug in first and then start the charger?
The 350A limit for magic dock seems strange. Any theories about why?
Superchargers can obviously push 600-something Amps. CCS-1 can do up to 500A. So is the magic dock adapter itself limited? That's seems like a poor design (or a strange cost cutting strategy to save metal in the adapter).
Yeah, I'm curious if they will increase that limit in the future? Or they are missing some vital temperature sensors in the adapter that just can't be added to the communication stream for one reason or another.
"First time charging a gas car!" - What, you don't think a BMW i3 REx has used a Magic Dock before?
I had the same issues charging my EV6 to Northglenn..i had to shift Chargers a couple of times.
A few weeks ago, we did a trip to Massachusetts and back in our ID.4. Getting through/past the NYC area is the trickiest part - my main complaint with EA these days is just the congestion. Look at anything from Trenton NJ to Hartford CT, and many chargers are full, and many others have 1-2 free stalls. But if you look at a site with 10 chargers and 1 is marked as "free", is it really free, or just broken and the app doesn't know that yet? Or is there a line there, and people are still shuffling cars so the next person can charge? Or is the "free" dispenser unused because it is de-rated and nobody wants to charge at 30kW? No way to know, really. I really didn't want to get stuck in a queue, so the trick is to try and guess where you are mostly likely to be able to just pull in and charge.
The congestion may get somewhat better if Ford is able to deliver NACS adapters to all of their customers next year. But EA needs to get serious about both idle fees and enforcing the 30 minute limit for free charging with >=2022 cars.
Anyways we used Tesla in NY and CT on our trip. There was a little work ahead of time to get up the billing and all that, but once you are at a station it is pretty easy. But there are no Magic Dock in NJ along I-95, so we still had one charge at an EA in each direction. Using Tesla is no-drama charging - as it should be. But I also suspect that Tesla is cherry-picking under-utilized locations for the Magic Dock upgrade.
the only supercharger near my house is always full with a long line. yall are blessed
The Moab superchargers (with magic docks) are centered, so I didn't need to take up two spots to charge a Rivian there.
15:01 I don’t see the problem. My man was just going for a classic post-Wendy’s joyride through the Valero.
All this time I was thinking I was a "normal" person with my android phone. But that's OK; you ain't the only game in town. 🖕
When you say $0.46 isn’t bad that’s pushing the level of gasoline. Given the other benefits of ev there is no fuel savings.
The only issue I see with the Magicdock Superchargers is the length of the cables.
You probably would be the one of the only people to ask about this. I own a smart car same model as yours. Do you know if there is a way to get that support dc fast charging ?
i have to give it to you Kyle, you sure do not baby your vehicles, kudos to that, i'm the oposite baby my xt6 :)
kinda wonder if 3b and 3d are mis configured ??
Kyle, what a relief to see the beautiful lines of your Polestar uno after witnessing the stainless monstrosity you showed earlier today from Littleton 👌🏼
Where is this Charging Station?
Magic dock in florida plz 🙏
It's not just a "gas car" but ok.
kyle conner is a conner.
6:28 normal person with blue bubbles
That was definetly a drunk anti-EV nut driving that truck. They knew the switch gear was the one to take out. More and more of these incidents will occur as more and more chargers are installed. They simply can't stand it.
that pulsar car is a nice looking car, just not crazy about it being hybred

Good video, but for the failed attempt to be sarcastic on the blue bubble green bubble problem I'll give a thumbs down.
For years, I had family members in the US who I couldn't video chat with cuz their answer to tech problems was "buy an iphone". This apple cockiness is irritating. Now if you were speaking off the cuff I would be less critical, but come on, it was an ad read. You should be a tad more considerate on your choice of words.
I really appreciate your channel and will continue liking your stuff, just not today.
Do most review in this channel. Do less in out of spec
I90 Massachusetts Rest Area charges ----ALL BROKEN
There are Magic Docks all over upstate NY already (Buffalo is Tesla's charger manufacturing site) and 1 in Connecticut. So hopefully they'll soon cover that section of Massachusetts. If there's money to be made, Tesla will gladly take the business others don't seem to care for.
